00:36all right guys here it is our tulum property tour everybody's been asking us how expensive it is to

00:43rent a condo or villa here in tulum mexico this is the airbnb that we've been renting for the last

00:50month for about 50 a night or 1500 a month in today's video we'll give you a quick tour of

00:57our apartment including the bedroom kitchen living room and also a pool that you'll just want to sit

01:03by and relax during sunset and hopefully by the end of the video you will have an idea of whether

01:09or not accommodation in tulum is overpriced or affordable g'day guys come inside i'm going to

01:15show you the apartment we've been renting for the last month for just 50 us dollars per night now

01:21when we booked this on airbnb we only booked it for a week because honestly whenever you book

01:26an apartment and you see the photos it's like a 50 50 gamble it could be amazing or it could

01:32be

01:32absolutely terrible sometimes they take pictures that make it look like it's a lot bigger than it is

01:37and a lot better than it is we were very pleasantly surprised when we got here just how good this

01:42apartment is so i'm going to show you around so this is the main living area which is massive as

01:47you can

01:48see really comfy couch that we have here and a tv we spend a lot of time in the kitchen

01:53it's got four

01:54bench seats here where we do all of our work and we eat all of our meals it's got brand

02:01new appliances

02:02this brand new smeg fridge which i know mandy loves comes with everything coffee machine kettle like

02:08sometimes you get an airbnb and there's just like four bowls four plates and a few knives and forks this

02:13has everything you need it even came with spices and everything fully stocked kitchen a ton of plates

02:20and everything we got smeg oven which is actually really good microwave it's even got a dishwasher

02:27for 50 a night one thing mandy pointed out is that she loved the fact that this is on the

02:33island side

02:34not over here on this side of the kitchen i'm not sure why but i want to keep that in

02:40mind for when we

02:41build our own house so i'll show you bathroom and bedroom no i'll show you bathroom and bedroom number

03:05one this is the master bedroom which is massive and it's got its own roku tv which has been amazing

03:12king-sized bed the linen and everything's really nice the lighting in here is epic and look at the

03:17view from the bed you've got the pools a balcony which you can walk out onto surprisingly the mosquitoes

03:24haven't been bad here at all so we've been having this open during the day massive balcony space we do

03:30yoga and hang out here in the mornings and in the afternoons pretty much all day and there's a ton

03:36of

03:36storage in this apartment which is great for us especially traveling with lila so we've got like

03:41extra blankets extra pillows actually the pillows are really comfy sometimes when you get to an airbnb

03:47you go to sleep the first night and you wake up feeling like you've got a stiff neck because

03:52the pillow just sucks this is absolutely awesome this is the ensuite for the master bedroom which

03:57we don't even really use there's two bathrooms uh and we use the other one so i'll show you the

04:02other

04:02side so this i guess would be the main bathroom because it's a lot bigger and it's got a huge

04:08shower

04:09which is awesome for us with lila being able to just put it down in the shower and not having

04:14a bath

04:15kind of sucks with a baby but you make it work when you have a big shower a lot of

04:19times when you're

04:20renting an airbnb there's literally nothing to clean with and you're just living in filth until someone

04:26comes and cleans it or you move out but this one's absolutely stocked which i know mandy loves yes

04:31and then there's the second bedroom which is the same size as the first bedroom but it's got

04:38two twin size beds so if you're a family traveling with like two kids this would be perfect we've

04:44obviously evolved to the stage where we need two bedroom accommodation we used to just go into studios

04:49or one bedrooms but with lila obviously we need more and there's another walkout balcony here as well

05:07so obviously safety is a huge issue uh for us especially now that we're traveling with our

05:13daughter and in mexico like you definitely have to take safety seriously which is i mean one of the

05:19reasons why we chose to get an apartment on the second floor sounds pretty obvious but if you're on

05:24the ground floor it's a lot easier for somebody to just come in and uh break into your condo so

05:29on

05:29the second floor gives you that extra level of security plus they've actually got 24 7 security

05:36here which is actually really really tight like when we first came in with our taxi driver it took

05:41about 15 minutes just to clear security now and we had to show them our passports and our booking

05:46reference he called up the owner and everything so like no one can get in and out and then there's

05:51like a double lock on the door so everything's completely secure here the only thing that we do

05:59ourselves for extra peace of mind and security because we're using somebody else's wi-fi we use a vpn

06:07which is what we do everywhere we go and we always use surfshark vpn we've been using them for about

06:19actually a gold mine for hackers and it's not so bad in airbnbs but if you're in places like

06:25airports or cafes co-working spaces and stuff like that it's actually really easy for hackers to get

06:39phone or your tablet whatever device you're using so they can't actually hack into your system speaking

06:44from experience we've been hacked multiple times unfortunately over the years i literally do not

07:45we're tired one of us has been up with lila or whatever we just come into this room this is

07:49pretty much the nap room there's another smart tv here so we've got three smart tvs in this place there's

07:56also ducted air conditioning in every room

08:02so

08:25when we decided to come to tulum we started looking at accommodation

08:28actually the combination is probably the biggest reason we came here because there's so many brand

08:33new condo buildings that have been put up in tulum over the last couple years and all of them look

08:39amazing but we tried to really narrow it down to like what we needed which was two bedrooms a gym

08:45close to the shops in a good area close to good restaurants and this place seemed to have it all

08:49but

08:50as i mentioned earlier sometimes everything looks perfect on an airbnb listing and then when you get here

08:57it's just not we've had that so many times so we only booked this for a week to start

09:01and then like i think after three days we're like okay we're going to extend for the whole month so

09:06it worked out to be 520 canadian dollars for one week uh which works out to probably around 350 us

09:15which is 50 a night so aside from the epic apartment it's got so many facilities it's got

09:21an awesome gym there's a spa that has ice bath sauna massage there's a hospital in this apartment

09:30complex a laundromat there's an epic paddle court which we just started playing there's a little dog

09:36park area it is pet friendly i'm not sure if this particular apartment is pet friendly but i've seen a

09:42lot of dogs there's how many pools there's one two three four pools just in this building the building

09:49over from us there's a rooftop pool and then on the other two buildings they got rooftop pools and

09:56there's probably like 10 pools in this complex uh there's a big mezzanine area where it looks like

10:00they're going to have like live music and stuff playing there's like a big co-working space that

10:05they're going to have the only downsides to this place it is a little bit far from the beach area

10:10and

10:10you do have to get a taxi or hire a scooter or a car and then the other downside would

10:16be there is a

10:17little bit of construction still going on like it's not too bad there's been a couple of days where

10:22like it was quite noisy uh and it lasted for a few hours but out of the month we've been

10:27here like it's

10:28been all right it's been pretty good and also and i think this applies to all of tulum is there

10:35are

10:35blackouts periodically sometimes they're scheduled blackouts because they need to do maintenance they

10:40also seem to have a lot of power issues in tulum so like they try to conserve power so sometimes

10:46at peak

10:46periods like between like seven and eight o'clock at night the power goes off for like half an hour

10:52which is apparently normal if there's bad weather like if there's a storm coming through the power

10:56might go out for 20 minutes or so but yeah i think honestly this is probably one of the

11:03most epic gem airbnbs we found in this price point anywhere like 50 a night for something like this

11:11is incredible the architecture here is absolutely beautiful everything's really well kept there's

11:18murals and artwork everywhere and literally apart from going to the beach and going downtown just like

11:25every few days we haven't even had to leave this area because we've got everything we need and it's

11:29super comfortable so whether you're a single digital nomad or a couple or a family like us uh we think

11:36this is an absolute gem we recommend it to anybody so we're going to leave the link down below in
