Dogs and cats at work: Yes or no? Here are Europe's most pet-friendly countries

In a new survey of 16,000 workers, more than half would consider switching job for a dog-friendly company.

00:08The UK has a soft spot for pets.
00:11Around two-thirds of job openings there say dogs are allowed at work,
00:15and that seems to have quite a few benefits.
00:18Researchers say bringing dogs to the office can reduce stress and anxiety,
00:23encourage better social interaction and even improve cognitive powers.
00:27Germany comes in with the second highest number of dog-friendly workplaces
00:31with nearly half of job listings saying pets are welcome.
00:35The US ranks third followed by Australia, then France, the Netherlands and Spain.
00:41Ireland is last with only 17%.
00:45Could having strict pet policies make a company less competitive? It might.
00:49A study by Mars Pet Nutrition on 16,000 workers found that more than half
00:55would consider switching jobs if pets were allowed at their new place of employment.
01:00The most eager to switch jobs if their furry friends are allowed are the Romanians,
01:05followed by Greeks, Swiss and Hungarians.
01:09But it's certainly an important factor for employers who also have to consider the disadvantages.
01:14Some workers may be scared of dogs or allergic to pet hair, for example.
01:19Additionally, pets can cause damage to personal property,
01:23so businesses might have to obtain specific insurance
01:25or pay additional fees to allow animals on the premises.
