00:00So the two brothers proceed further in quest of Sita and make, mark the thickening of the forest even as
00:09they went.
00:10So the two brothers, Ram and Lakshmana, they keep searching for Sita.
00:16The forest was full of creepers, trees and inhabited by many birds and deers and elephants, even lions.
00:26Shri Ram overthrew the demon Kadambha even as they later met him on the way.
00:34There was a demon who he met and fought with him in that forest and he freed that demon itself.
00:44He told him how he became a demon. Actually he was not a demon, he was a sage who was
00:53cursed.
00:55He was a sage? No. He was Ghandarva. He was a... how say...
01:00How is Ghandarva? Like a heavenly music person, you know? Celestial music.
01:10Gandarva? Yeah, Gandarva, but how do you translate Gandarva in any...
01:14No. Yes, an angel with a harp. Let's put it in that way.
01:25A heavenly being with a harp in the hand.
01:33So, he told the story to Rama that sage Durvasa, the anger saints,
01:42sage Durvasa had predicated him, the sin has now been wiped out by the sight of the touch of the
01:51lotus feet of the Lord himself.
01:54So, the Gandarva was telling his story that due to a curse which he received from sage Durvasa,
02:02you know, say Durvasa, you know, in Bhagwat itself, you know, have Ambarisha, you know, he was ready to burn
02:08Ambarisha.
02:09So, in Mahabharata, when Draupati and Arjun and the Pandavas were in the forest, he came and asked for food,
02:19you know?
02:20But then he realized, oh, these are Vaishnavas. These are... how say they belong to the Supreme Lord.
02:25We should never mess with them, you know? Even the sage think wise. Even the great Durvasa,
02:33he thinks wise when he comes to Vaishnava. Because, you see, if he don't... if he commit Vaishnava abroad,
02:41he can even lose his place, you know, as a great Rishi.
02:46So, Durvasa here, because that's due to some misbehave of this Gandarva, because you see sometimes,
02:52being in heavens, you know, there are many stages of heavens, many little heavens, you know,
03:00where many angels, all kind of deities and all kind of entities and all this stuff are.
03:10So, sometimes their pride is also there, you know? So, due to their pride,
03:15sometimes you can enrage the Rishis and just like Jaya Vijaya also,
03:22not because of their pride, because they were thinking that the Lord was sleeping,
03:26they didn't let the four, how say, Kumaras, you know, enter.
03:34So, it's also a little bit of pride that they were guarding the door of Vaikuntha itself, you know?
03:41So, that's why they were cursed, you see, that's... you see...
03:45Here again, it's a reminder that Brahmana Aparad is very important, you know, to bear in mind,
03:53you know, there he said, you know...
03:59Listen, O Gandharva, to what I tell you, I cannot tolerate an enemy of the Brahmanas.
04:07So, here Bhagawan Himself is saying to the Gandharva,
04:12you have to understand, those who offend a Brahmana,
04:17they are due to be cursed.
04:20Here, Brahman again, I explained, Brahman is not only those priests.
04:25Of course, Brahman at that time and Brahman of nowadays time is two different kinds of Brahmanas.
04:31Brahmanas in the time of Bhagawan Krishna and Ram, Ram first and then Lord Krishna afterwards,
04:39they are those people who have fully surrendered.
04:43Their mind which is fully absorbed in knowing the scriptures, knowing the Veda especially,
04:49their mind is... they know the Veda
04:54throughout. And due to that, they understand the deeper meaning of life itself.
05:00For them, in the Brahmana's mind, there is no judgment, there is no criticism,
05:08criticism, there is no I or mind. They know that everyone is the soul.
05:16A real Brahmana perceived that Atma which is inside of him is also the same Atma in everybody.
05:23You know, not the same Atma but it is the same kind of Atma is in everyone but of course
05:30with their own journey.
05:33And it is a parcel of the same Supreme Lord Himself which is in each one.
05:40So that's what a Brahmana... because due to that state of realization,
05:46they have already transformed themselves.
05:49Why Bhagawan said, you know, Brahmanas are very important because they have...
05:54due to their transmutating this normal reality
05:58and being absorbed continuously in the remembrance of Bhagawan,
06:02they have transformed into Divine Being.
06:05You know, they reflect the four Vedas and the four Vedas is Bhagawan Himself.
06:10There is no difference between the Veda and him. He is Veda Purusha.
06:15So that's what a Brahmana stands for.
06:20So that's why he said, you know,
06:23those who hold that Spirit of God inside of them,
06:26I can't tolerate those who offend them, you know.
06:30You will see similar in the Bible, it says, I think there is a verse that says,
06:34you can offend the Father, you can offend the Son,
06:36but if you offend the Spirit, I will never forgive.
06:40So you see, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Sriman Narayana dwells into these saints, you know.
06:48Brahmana are all these saints who have
06:51had direct vision, experience of Bhagawan Himself
06:56and due to their relationship, because they have that deep relationship with the Lord,
07:00of course the Lord can't tolerate if somebody offends them, you know.
07:05So like that, you see, when you have a deeper understanding of a Brahmana,
07:11you will understand, but not what you see on the outside.
07:18Those who say, yes, I am a Brahmana from X, Y, Z place,
07:21you have to give me money, all this stuff. No, no, no.
07:25Brahman will not be about that, you know.
07:26When we look at Santukaram, even if he didn't even have a sense in his pocket, you know,
07:33but he will not, you know, go around saying,
07:38yes, I am a great devotee of the Lord, please give me.
07:40No, he will not do that, you know.
07:44Naturally, you see, the devotee will be drawn to help these Brahmanas.
07:50So these are Brahmanas, which is reflecting the Lord Himself,
07:57who reflects that's the image of the Supreme Lord Himself, you know.
08:01That's why Bhagawan said, I can't tolerate those who offend my devotee, you know.
08:06So he who without guile in thoughts, here you see,
08:12words and deeds, does service to the Brahmana, that very gods on earth,
08:18win over Brahma, Shiva, myself and all the other deities.
08:22Here he says, service to such devotee, you know, service to those who he is calling brahman,
08:31those who is pure in their thoughts, you know, those who,
08:36their words are for the benefit of humanity, you know, not to incur harm or pain in the heart of
08:45others,
08:45because these are demonic qualities, you know, and their deeds are always there to help the people.
08:52They forget about themselves completely, you know, and they do everything
08:56so that those people can transcend that material reality, you know,
09:10so that they can transcend that mind which stops them,
09:15that mind which is always creating problems, that mind which is adverse to realization, you know.
09:23So here he said, a Brahmana, those who serve such a saint which is fully absorbed,
09:30they are, they have win over Brahma, they have win over Lord Shiva,
09:36they have even win over myself, those who worship my devotee are dearest to me,
09:40those who worship the devotee of my devotee are dearest to me, Lord Krishna said, no?
09:46So here Rama is saying the same things, you know, those who worship this Brahmana
09:52because of their state into which they dwell, the Brahmana whose mind is fully absorbed in service
10:00to humanity, they are very dear to me.
10:04Because they are so dear to me, you know, I reside in them and, you know.
10:10So, we can carry on. I have let myself a bit too far.
10:24So, here Bhagavan is explaining about a Brahmana, like I just explained to you.
10:31A Brahmana, he is carrying on explaining
10:35the grace which a Brahmana holds in them, you know.
10:43So, he, Sri Ram, is explaining to the Gandharva,
10:50so saying, O Brahmana, even through Durvasa have cursed you,
10:58even if Durvasa beat you, if Brahmana curse you and beat you,
11:04even a saint speak harsh words to you,
11:09is still worthy of adoration.
11:12So, declare the saints.
11:15Here again in Ramtharaman is similar to what is said in the Gita.
11:21Even those who have done so much bad things but yet surrender to me,
11:28must consider as a saint.
11:33So, Bhagavan is explaining
11:38what even if a saint, you know,
11:44the saint will give the blessing in many ways
11:47and the saint's blessing is unknown to the mind of man.
11:54Here Bhagavan is again giving a warning
11:58to everybody saying, don't
12:04misunderstand by looking from a mind point of view,
12:09from a human point of view towards the guru and the saints.
12:16Similar to that guy questioned, you know, a few days ago, you know,
12:23you see, often people mislead themselves through their mind.
12:30They project their own dirt upon the guru and the saints
12:35and they think, yes, it is the same as what they do.
12:40Here Bhagavan is saying, no, it is not like that, you know,
12:45you know, because whatever the saint does is full with the grace of God inside of them.
12:54Even if the saint cursed you, it is a blessing.
12:57Even if the saint beat you, it is a blessing.
13:00Even if the saint speaks a harsh word to you,
13:04that saint is still adoration, you know,
13:07is still his worthy to be adored, actually.
13:11Who has the capacity to point your error to you?
13:16Only those which feel dear to you. Only those who care for you.
13:19If somebody doesn't care for you, who gives a damn about it?
13:23You know, if you don't care about somebody, do you think you will go and tell that person something
13:28which don't mean anything for you?
13:34How would not go to the neighbour and tell the neighbour how idiot he is, even if he is?
13:38You know? No.
13:40But if Aditya is around, which is almost every day, I will tell him.
13:52You know? But here you can see, you know, I see this guy, even how he is, you know,
14:01how I shout at him.
14:10Yeah. Yeah, but how he is, it's really nice, you know.
14:16But it is exactly what Lord Rama is saying here, you know.
14:27So,
14:32Rama is explaining to the Gandharva, you know, that
14:37because his dearness to you, you know, because he sees that your object, whatever you have done
14:45was wrong, you know, and to make you in a right way.
14:50The saint will take any way, any approach, you know, to challenge that mind, you know.
14:58But from your side, how you have to see it, how you have to take it, this is very important.
15:04Because you see, if you are an idiot of very high degree, you will get offended.
15:12You know?
15:13If you are a rascal of very high degree, you will go crazy.
15:21You know? But he said, no.
15:24Those who are dear to you, they are the only ones who can challenge that mind for you.
15:29He can provoke you to some extent to break that mindset.
15:35If that person is not dear to you, if that person doesn't have any
15:40care for you, why should he care for you?
15:43Why should he tell you off? Why should he beat you? Why should he tell you harsh words?
15:49You know? Only to transform you so that you see your own stupidity.
15:54You know? Of course, because of the mind,
15:57how say, earlier we see Bhagawan say, Lord Shankara have said to Parvati, the mind which is dwelling on to
16:04the
16:04external reality, people feel offended, people feel really aggravated, people feel very angry.
16:13You know? And of course, they become, they go into their demonic quality completely.
16:19So, here for the Gandharva, even if he have offended Sage Durrasa, he realised it, that it was a curse,
16:29a blessing in disguise. That curse itself to become a demon, it is for a higher purpose, you know?
16:38But Bhagawan Himself has left Vaikuntha, come on this earth to liberate Him. For whom would He do that?
16:46You know? It's so rich, you know? How that relationship, you know? But everything is so meticulously planned.
17:00You know? Even that curse of Sage Durrasa is planned.
17:07You know? A brahmana must be respected through lacking in ability and virtue.
17:15They say, it doesn't matter how the brahmana is on the external, on the outside.
17:20That brahmana can appear crazy, can appear like a madman,
17:28but you don't know through which way he will give you that blessing.
17:35You know? You will see very often the saints, they will appear crazy.
17:42They will shout, you know? They will curse you.
17:46You know? They will push you away.
17:53They will appear filthy, dirty so that they can impart that blessing
18:05without people knowing, because they don't long for the glory of people.
18:12Bhagawan knows. That's it.
18:15You will see the sadhus, you know, they can appear mad.
18:21You know? Right now, if you see how the madness is, imagine,
18:27in spite of what is happening, the pandemic is happening.
18:30You know? It's killing the whole world.
18:33You know?
18:33You know? But yet, these sadhus,
18:40they are fully mad about God.
18:46that they are all by millions. Yesterday, 2.1 million – well,
18:52nobody has counted them for around roughly – 2.1 million sadhus went and take
18:59the street of Haridwal, procession. You can look on the internet, you will see.
19:07What grace do these sadhus have, you know?
19:09You know? They know what is happening. Nobody could stop them.
19:15They don't care. You know? They are not scared of Corona.
19:20For them, their relationship to God, they have surrendered themselves to God.
19:26They have given their life to God.
19:30You know? They don't think about themselves.
19:33They think about, how can I save humanity?
19:35Even if my life died, even if I died, it doesn't matter.
19:40But the humanity has to be saved.
19:42The dharma has to be saved. The culture has to be saved.
19:45But looking at the people on the outside, how many people,
19:49how many Hindus are thinking about saving their culture?
19:52It's a shame, really.
19:56But these sadhus, they are the ones which keep the sanat and dharma, you know?
20:04They are the ones which really represent that force, that power,
20:10which is putting their life itself.
20:13They are that Brahmin who have given their life to the Lord, you know?
20:16And the Lord also has given Himself to them, you know?
20:22I said, these virtues, you know, these Brahmin, even if they appear crazy,
20:28they are worthy to be worshipped.
20:31Look at when we went to South India two years ago.
20:38When we look at, you know, how we met these great saints, you know, on the street, you know?
20:47It is crazy.
20:50We were in Kumbakonam.
20:55As we were driving in a bus, we were like two buses actually, you know, with all the residents,
21:05the bus come to a point where actually we could have drive, but the bus just stopped.
21:16And of course, at the bus stopped, I felt an energy, you know, around.
21:24And I was looking where does that energy come from, where I could feel there is like a wave of
21:33energy.
21:33So, I was wondering where does that come? And I looked on the...
21:37I was in the bus with the devotees and I looked on the windows outside
21:41and I saw a beggar walking, walking naked.
21:49He was just taking his, how say, dhoti, put it on himself and was walking.
21:56And I looked at him and I said to Swami Pratala,
22:00that man is a saint.
22:04It's not a beggar. It's just an appearance only.
22:09Go, I said to Swami Neruda, go and have his blessing and try to get something for our museum.
22:16You know?
22:18So, it's... So, Swami Neruda jumped out of the bed, out of the bus.
22:25He rushed to the saint. Of course, speaking Tamil,
22:31the saint, he was not talking at all.
22:35He was walking, not bothering about anybody in his Adam attire,
22:44without any concern about anybody. So, he was walking.
22:48Swami Neruda went there, tried to speak with him.
22:53But, of course, his language of the hand,
22:59Swami Neruda was showing, yeah, yeah, can I have...
23:03No, no, wait, wait.
23:05Of course, he would not understand. Of course, the saint,
23:08that man appeared completely crazy, mad, you know,
23:14ignoring Swami Neruda completely, you know, and
23:20of course, a white man in the middle of the street with a beggar, it attracts the curiosity of people.
23:28So, then he went to a house, sat down and the lady came and offered him a maize,
23:36a corn to eat. He ate it and then throw it away.
23:42Then he just got up and walked back down and I said to Pepe,
23:46you better go and get something from him.
23:49Pepe went quickly and went and tried to get something from him, tried to explain.
23:55It was so hilarious to look at the scene from the bus.
24:00It was like two mad men walking.
24:03I see, when I look at such right now, I can still see that.
24:07It's like two crazy people walking.
24:11One crazy person is talking to another crazy to try to get something without any language.
24:18So, then a devotee of that saint came and he explained to Swami Neruda about him and said,
24:26yes, he is a Sat Purusha, he is a great soul and many people come and have his blessing.
24:31And that's what he did, he just go up and down the street.
24:37Why our best stop there is only to have his blessing, you know?
24:45And then I went down, he was so sweet, he was just looking.
24:51Then he came out, he went to another house, we went there also.
24:57He just stood up, took his dhoti and threw it on one of the devotees.
25:04He just threw the devotee, he just woke naked on the street and went.
25:10And as we were going, we got the dhoti from him.
25:13He was so funny, you know, when you look at him, he was so stern, you know, like ready to
25:21beat you up.
25:23But then, when we were in the car, I was saying bye to him.
25:26He had a smile and a very cheeky eyes.
25:31I said to Prita, you see how he's smiling?
25:34Look at him, you know, he was waiting.
25:41And this is the same, the Gandharava waited in the form of a demon to have the grace of Lord
25:50Rama.
25:51And that curse of Sayyidurvasa was a blessing, the greatest of all blessing actually.
25:59To receive the grace of the Lord Himself.
26:04When the Lord manifests Himself, when the Lord descends onto this reality, you know.
26:17So, that's why I said it's not about the appearance of the outside,
26:21it's not about how does the blessing come from,
26:25but as a devotee, as someone which is centered into God.
26:30That's why it's said that those who have that virtue, you know, those people who are good in their mind,
26:39the people which are good in their words and deeds, you know,
26:42they will have the blessing in many kinds of ways.
26:45They're saying to the Gandharava, you are worthy of that.
26:48You know, even if you have caused a certain stupidity, but yet it is no late to bow down
27:00and to ask for forgiveness for your sins that you have committed.
27:05And that curse itself has become a great blessing.
27:11Then he explained why these saints and differ to a Shudra, you know, is different.
27:19Not so a case, not so a Shudra, through possessing a horse of virtue and rich in knowledge.
27:28So he said, those brahmanas, even if they beat you up, if they curse you, they
27:34chastise you, even if they appeared crazy, everything in them is a blessing.
27:42That is how even their clothes is filled with their divine energy.
27:48Even the small dust of their feet is full of the grace of God.
27:55You know, we will see later on now.
27:59So, he said, compared to a Shudra, you know, here when we talk about Shudra,
28:07we are talking about job-wise, you know, we are not talking about,
28:12I say, caste like nowadays people understand.
28:16So, now again we have to understand.
28:19When he's talking about Shudra, it means people which do menial work,
28:23people who do work which is not done by other people, like scavenging, cleaning the street,
28:31cleaning the dirt on the road, you know, like working in the field, you know,
28:40and all these are called Shudra, you know, who do manual work, hard working people.
28:46He said, even if they possess their rich in knowledge and they are,
28:50let's say, full of virtue, they can be very knowledgeable,
28:55the point is that their character predominates them,
29:00you know, because their mind is different from a Brahmana.
29:04A Brahmana mind, I explained to you earlier, a Brahmana mind is fully absorbed into
29:09the Leela of the Lord, you know.
29:12Bhakta, all the devotees, you know, which have that state of Brahmana,
29:17those devotees which is fully absorbed into continuous remembering of Bhagawan,
29:22they are Brahmana.
29:25But those mind which is fully absorbed into
29:29their work, their family and only focusing upon the
29:37means of living, you know, just to live, they live like an animal.
29:43The mind which is fully absorbed into fear, anger, a mind which is fully absorbed into
29:49completely enjoying themselves. I work today, I enjoy myself.
29:53This is a Shudra.
29:58This is a Shudra.
29:58Even if they have knowledge, but their knowledge will be not of virtue.
30:01If they curse you, then it will be terrible.
30:05It will not become a blessing.
30:07It will be completely dirt itself. So, because it is their dirt
30:11projecting upon the dirt, because a saint is full of that love in them.
30:15So, when they curse, they impart that love in the form of curse upon the others, you know.
30:22They have that Amrit inside of them.
30:24So, when they curse somebody, a little bit of that Amrit, they throw it on someone.
30:29So, when they throw that Amrit on that person, that person becomes that Amrit itself.
30:34But when somebody is full of dirt, when they take, they throw that dirt on somebody,
30:39what will come out? What will be?
30:41Then more dirt. That's why you see when people fight like idiots,
30:46you know, on the road you will see, they fight like mad.
30:50Have you ever seen somebody fighting on the road?
30:53You know, they are worse than animals.
30:56When they fight, what happens? Each one is throwing the dirt on each another.
31:01They are fully... What virtue will be there? Nothing.
31:07But more damage will be created. That's what Bhagavan is saying here.
31:13Compared to a Brahmana, when a Brahmana beat you, curse you and
31:18say a harsh word to you, it is a blessing in disguise.
31:22So, the Lord Shri Ram instruct Kadambha in worshipping Himself.
31:31He said, look, I am giving you that grace to worship Me.
31:39So, He imparted Him. He gave Him that blessing. You are Gandharma.
31:42You have been blessed by the sin. You have received that grace from the sage itself.
31:47I bless you so that you can worship Me.
31:53Because you have been freed from the delusion of I and mine.
31:59You have been freed from the delusion of I can do everything.
32:06So, He said, only by devotion.
32:11Build up your relationship with Me through devotion.
32:18So, the Lord was... No. No, He was delighted at heart...
32:24No, just see His devotion to His feet. No, the Lord was delighted
32:29in His heart seeing the devotion that He was offering.
32:34So, the Gandharva, when He was instructed into the path of bhakti itself,
32:39you know, and He was sincere, you know, what gratitude He had, that sincerity, you know,
32:47for having fined the lotus feet of the Lord, you know, and Bhagavan was pleased with Him.
32:56So, and He blessed Him and He became back His original form, you know, not the demon form again.
33:07He bowed down to the lotus feet of Lord Rama and ascended to Vaikuntha.
33:12So, He bowed down to the Lord, He worshipped the Lord and He went back where He came from.
