00:00I do, however, believe that the relationship between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady had a lot to do with why
00:05they aren't playing together anymore, or they weren't playing together and they ended up splitting apart.
00:09I mean, the fact that Belichick drafted Jimmy G to be a successor and wanted to trade Brady or get
00:14rid of him or cut him or, you know.
00:15That Wickersham story about how they locked Jimmy Garoppolo out of the TB12 facility is like one of just, it's
00:22one of the best stories.
00:23It truly is great.
00:24And how everything was weird with Alex Guerrero and Bill Belichick was like pissed off at Alex Guerrero.
00:28That was a great era.
00:30Like, that was a great era.
00:31Oh, my God.
00:31I can't believe this is all going on.
00:32Like, it was.
00:33And then, you know, it was so funny.
00:35People didn't believe it, by the way.
00:36No.
00:36Blamed Wickersham, said you're making this up, whatever.
00:38And then he was right.
00:39And he was right.
00:39And then, like, basically, it's all been confirmed, all of that.
00:42Confirmed.
00:42Gronk was sitting down at dinner, at breakfast with Wickersham and giving him all the info.
00:46It was unreal.
00:48So we all knew that it was all going on behind the scenes.
00:50And maybe, just maybe, a couple years from now, we might hear more about Jalen and Jason.
00:54But I don't think there's any more to it than what we're hearing.
00:56I really don't.
00:57You're wrong.
00:58Always more.
00:59I did, however.
01:01Except Malcolm Butler.
01:01That's it.
01:01You know, the Malcolm Butler thing.
01:03As I said, if there's one person in sports that I could inject truth serum into and just have an
01:08hour to talk to, it would be Bill Belichick.
01:10And the very first question is, tell me what the F happened with Malcolm Butler.
01:15That's it.
01:16And then, you know what I would do?
01:17Then I would use the rest of the serum for the crafts.
01:20And I'd be like, no.
01:22And I would be like, what happened to the deflator?
01:24Yeah.
01:25Where are they now?
01:26They just, like, disappeared.
01:28I can't believe we live where we live.
01:30Where they lived.
01:31And nobody knows anything about what happened to Jastrzemski and one of the other guys' name was.
01:38McNally.
01:39McNally.
01:39Like, nobody knows.
01:41And the only person who's ever said that they've run into him was that comedian, Jim Brewer, who said he
01:46ran into one of the dudes down at some place in the Bahamas.
01:50Which is odd.
01:51But the story was so odd that I believed it.
01:53Very, very strange.
01:54But Bill Belichick and Tom Brady are back.
01:56The Bill Belichick story that came out yesterday is from a Seth Wickersham, of all people, book that's coming out
02:01about Sean Payton.
02:02And Sean Payton said that for a moment, right when Bill ended up leaving the Patriots, for a moment, there
02:09was discussion that Sean Payton was talking to the Broncos about possibly letting Bill Belichick be the head coach until
02:15he ended up getting his 15 wins, which would pass Don Shula for the all-time wins.
02:19And Sean Payton would step back as offensive coordinator and then very nicely step up.
02:23And, of course, that was shot down.
02:25I don't know, like, who that's more embarrassing for.
02:27Because, again, I think if you're Bill Belichick and you knew they did that for you, then you've got to
02:31feel like a tool.
02:33They're only letting me do this so I can win 15 games.
02:35You'd seem like a little bit of a tool.
02:37No, no, no, no, no, no.
02:38If somebody legitimately wanted to do that for Bill and they had an offensive coordinator of Sean Payton's repute willing
02:44to agree to it, that's not embarrassing for Bill.
02:47But then it's like Bill not getting hired for, like, his own reason.
02:51You know, like, he wanted to get hired as a head coach so he could do everything he used to
02:55do here.
02:55Get all of his own coordinators, get all of his guys in here, bring Matt Patricia in to screw up
02:59an offense.
03:00God, that's the worst.
03:01That is one of the worst all-time football moves I've ever seen.
03:04When he did that that last season, it was fireable.
03:07That and drafting to kill Harry.
03:08Well, you know, what can you do?
03:10They can't all be zingers.
03:11But in this case, Tom Brady is now talking.
03:14And Tom Brady's talking about.
03:16Well, Tom Brady's never stopped talking.
03:17But in this case, this one actually I thought was interesting.
03:20Maybe less so the Bill comments, because maybe that's more of what we heard.
03:24Go ahead, I don't want to interrupt your flow.
03:25You were going to talk about the niceties.
03:26No, no, no.
03:27Let's go ahead and just play the Tom Brady.
03:29Do you have the Tom Brady clip there, sis?
03:30So this is him talking right about the Super Bowl.
03:32Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:33He was asked what his favorite Super Bowl was.
03:34And I never would have guessed this if I had to.
03:37This would be third or fourth, I would guess, of the six he won here.
03:41Let's take a listen.
03:42I think one that was like the 2014 one against the Seahawks.
03:46You'd probably say like the Atlanta one where we came back from all those, you know, down a bunch of
03:50points.
03:51But the one, I won three really early.
03:55And it was kind of like, ah, you know, what's so hard about the NFL?
03:58You know, I mean, I sounded like a little dick.
04:00I mean, no idea.
04:02Oh, my God.
04:03I mean, it was like I went to Michigan.
04:05We were good in Michigan.
04:06Oh, yeah.
04:06And I won two bowl games.
04:07And then I got to the pros my first year.
04:09We won the Super Bowl.
04:10And then, you know, my next year we didn't.
04:11And then we won two back-to-back.
04:13So I was kind of like, this is what you're supposed to do.
04:16You're supposed to start the season, work hard, you know, and then win.
04:18That's okay, big deal.
04:19But then we lost in 07 to the Giants.
04:21Then we lost in 2011 to the Giants.
04:23And then we played Seattle in the 2014.
04:25So we'd gone 10 years.
04:27And I had three years, three times we won it.
04:29Then I had two where we lost it.
04:31And then I was like, man.
04:33And then 2014 came.
04:35And we're going against the Legion of Boom.
04:37And we're down, I think, 10 in the fourth quarter.
04:40Or, yeah, 10 in the fourth quarter.
04:42And then we ended up having just the most incredible, you know, last, again, last 20 minutes of the game.
04:49And defense played incredible.
04:51I mean, that stopped down at the goal line.
04:53It went from like, you know, again, we were losing most of the game.
04:56We finally got a lead in the fourth quarter.
04:58They drove right down the field.
04:59And then Dante Hightower made one of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history, tackling Marshawn, getting blocked, had like
05:05one shoulder out, somehow got Marshawn on the ground, which like 10 guys can't get Marshawn on the ground.
05:10And Dante did it with like one shoulder.
05:12And then Malcolm makes one of the greatest defensive plays in the history of football.
05:17And everyone after the game talked about, you know, oh, not handing the ball to Marshawn.
05:20I was like, how about that play by Malcolm Butler to like pull the trigger?
05:24Yeah.
05:24Yeah, to pull the trigger on that as a rookie to like go over the top of the pick and
05:29the acceleration burst.
05:30And then it was crazy.
05:33You know, that's my favorite Super Bowl.
05:35Really?
05:36You know, your favorite?
05:37It's my favorite because, A, it was the best ending.
05:40It was a great game.
05:41It was against a very worthy villain.
05:44And speaking of deflategate, it was at the center of that whole controversy.
05:48Yes.
05:48So it was definitely redemption.
05:49I get it.
05:50Right.
05:50That was the unequivocally the sweetest.
05:55But there was the one thing about the Atlanta one was that the Atlanta one was so stressful that you
06:01almost couldn't enjoy it.
06:02Matter of fact, it was not until about a week afterwards that it really hit me that they had done
06:07it.
06:07Because all of the things that like just the like the Edelman catch, you had to sit there and wait
06:12to see if it was a real catch.
06:13And then even like the final James White touchdown, you had to sit there and wait.
06:17And there's that video of of Bill Belichick walking out the field.
06:19And Tom Brady didn't even realize they won.
06:21Bill's like, hey, we won.
06:21We won.
06:22Like, I mean, even he was kind of in shock that everything had gone the way that it did.
06:26I honestly did not enjoy the end of that Super Bowl where they beat Atlanta because it was so stressful.
06:35People wear 28-3 shirts that have license plates.
06:37They don't have Malcolm Butler, you know, Marshawn Lynch.
06:40You just don't hear that as nearly as much.
06:42And 2001.
06:44I mean, come on.
06:44That is talk about legendary.
06:47It's it's legendary, but it was one on a field goal.
06:49You know, it's like to me, the Malcolm Butler interception is the greatest play in Super Bowl history.
06:57What a field goal with Brady leading a drive in two minutes when John Madden was saying kneel on the
07:00football and take it to overtime.
07:01I mean, it's cool.
07:03It was great.
07:03It's the greatest show on turf.
07:04I mean, I I'm just stunned to hear Brady say that.
07:07I'm actually surprised you say that as well.
07:09I'm curious if there are any other Patriots fans who feel that way, that some that the 2014 title is
07:13their favorite.
07:14I guarantee you, if we were to take five calls right now and they were to pick like whether it
07:19was 2014 or one of the other ones, like I would people would agree with me.
07:23I think that 2014, because it included the greatest play in Super Bowl history and because it was truly like
07:30an epic back and forth, it was just an awesome game.
07:32The entire thing.
07:33And like that last quarter was was like edge of your seat back and forth.
07:38And you and it was a likable team.
07:40I just think that that was right there.
07:43The best, the most satisfying of all of the different of all the Super Bowls.
07:48Atlanta, as I said, I didn't enjoy it until a week later because I couldn't believe it.
07:52Even the next morning on the air, I'm like, how the hell did that happen?
07:54By the way, I want to give Brady credit there, too, because I'm always critical of him and things he
07:58says.
07:58But for him to gush that much about members of the defense, not just Malcolm Butler, but Hightower and everything
08:03else, like that's pretty cool to hear him speak about the team in that way.
08:08That's as good as of an answer as I've heard Brady give in a long time.
08:11Well, the Malcolm Butler thing's great because I know that he was like watching tape and he did a lot
08:14of studying on and he saw that exact play.
08:17So he almost knew like exactly what they were going to do.
08:20And he just I mean, yeah, it's the greatest play in football in NFL history and not only NFL history,
08:26Super Bowl history.
08:27That Malcolm Butler interception is truly the best play in NFL history.
08:31But it's more framed as the biggest gaffe in football history, like in the decision to.
08:35Oh, well, that's sure.
08:37So, yeah, that that was it was very, very dumb, but it doesn't take away how great that play was.
08:42Yeah.
08:43But Edelman's catch is equally as is good, as impressive.
08:46I mean, 2014 is the that's I think that the majority of people will agree with me.
08:50Is that out of all that you did a poll right now of which is your favorite Super Bowl?
08:55Yes.
08:55Yes, 2001, I'm talking I'm talking Patriots wins.
08:58Yes.
08:59Yeah.
08:592014.
09:00I just third.
09:01There's not even.
09:01No, I just put the poll up.
09:03I'm telling you, 2014 will be like I'm right on this.
09:07Patriots fans will think it's 2014 in the majority.
09:10There's gonna be a lot of people are gonna be very sentimental about the first one.
09:12I understand that.
09:13But I think that most people would say 2014 was the one that felt the best.
09:16That was the that was the coolest.
09:17That was the best one.
09:18You're wrong, but that's fine.
09:19I appreciate the take.
09:20That is a I don't even think it's a hot take.
09:22As a matter of fact, I think it's a lukewarm to cold take.
09:25I honestly believe that most people think the way that I do on this.
