00:00It looks like inter-office romance may be going the way of the Rolodex. A new survey finds that
00:05fewer Americans are developing crushes, going on dates, or hooking up with their co-workers.
00:09According to the Human Resources Group, SHRM, just 22% of workers said they had a workplace
00:15crush, down from 49% last year. It's a big dip. Office dating also took a hit with just 16
00:22% of
00:22employees saying they went on a date with a co-worker. And when it comes to office hookups,
00:26only 7% admitted to a, quote, risky romantic encounter at work, roughly half of last year's
00:32number. That may help explain another trend. Younger Americans are far less likely than older
00:37generations to meet their spouse at work as more people find their partners online instead.
00:42But don't count office romance out just yet. Among those who are still open to dating their
00:47co-workers, more than half said they were looking for true love. And perhaps most surprising of all,
00:51nearly two-thirds of managers said office romances actually have a positive effect on the workplace.
00:56So maybe your one true love is sitting in the cubicle next to you and you're just too busy
01:01swiping on the apps to notice.
