Suffering is everywhere in Gaza - but for a few minutes, a VR headset can take people somewhere else.
Transcript
00:00In central Gaza, moments of escape are rare.
00:03Now, displaced Palestinians can find brief relief through virtual reality headsets,
00:10like this 71-year-old woman who lost seven family members and now uses a wheelchair.
00:17The most common cases we see in the camps are people who have experienced trauma during the war and sustained
00:23injuries.
00:24Children are also using the headsets,
00:27watching green landscapes and animals far removed from their daily reality.
00:32Aid groups warn Gaza's children face severe psychological distress.
00:36Research shows virtual reality can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and post-traumatic stress,
00:43offering immersive distraction and emotional processing.
00:47The idea was launched by a team of programmers and specialists with management-based abroad.
00:52Through this project, we are able to provide several psychological support services.
00:57VR cannot replace long-term care, but in a setting where options are limited,
01:03a few minutes of mental escape can offer relief.
