00:02G'day, I'm Steve Graham. I've spent my life driving trucks across Australia.
00:11Bloody pain in the arse, Camel.
00:14It's a tough job. This is a bastard on a bit of road.
00:18Now, we've got a big problem in the industry.
00:21Aussie Trucking is at a crisis point.
00:2426,000 drivers are needed to fill a huge labour market gap.
00:28Australia relies on us.
00:31Supermarket shelves will be stripped bare.
00:33They need our trucks.
00:35But now, after decades behind the wheel, a generation of drivers is about to retire.
00:44We have a massive crisis, a driver shortage.
00:47So me and my mates are going to do what we can to pass the torch and get the next
00:51generation ready.
00:52This is so bloody stressful.
00:55Come on buttercup, you'll be alright.
00:56Living the dream.
00:57He reckons he wants to be thrown in the deep end.
00:59I'm throwing him in at a hundred mile an hour.
01:01Oh!
01:04Eww!
01:05Frustrates me!
01:06I have faith in you, you can do it.
01:09If the trucks stop, the nation stops.
01:21Oh, f**k!
01:24Oh, f**k!
01:26Oh, f**k!
01:27Cracked the housing.
01:30The future's here and his name's Roy Murrell.
01:3622-year-old heir to a trucking dynasty, Roy Murrell has graduated to epic long hauls in road trades.
01:44This is f**king scary.
01:46Under the watchful eye of mentor Steve Graham.
01:49You beauty.
01:50Go Roy.
01:51Mate, you don't just talk the talk, alright?
01:53You walk the walk.
01:54I'm proud of you.
01:54But Roy has never trucked on dirt roads.
02:00Until now.
02:01And this road is one of the toughest.
02:13He's on a mammoth journey to the northern tip of Australia in a 53-metre triple road train pulled by
02:22The Beast.
02:24A 1997 Western Star owned by...
02:29Jim Foodie.
02:30Outback trucker.
02:31Extraordinaire.
02:35Who's mentoring Roy for the trip.
02:38Roy's come to give me a bit of a hand.
02:40He's not got an easy trip.
02:42It's gonna be bad.
02:44There's no question.
02:45Half of this 1,000-kilometre journey from Cairns to Bamaga is on the dirt.
02:52Roy was on schedule to catch the last ferry across the Jardine River at 6pm.
03:00There goes any chance of crossing the ferry today.
03:06I don't know.
03:07I've hit a rock or something and it's just popped it.
03:09It's not good.
03:12The cracked hub cover isn't just cosmetic.
03:14It's the reservoir for oil that lubricates the wheel bearing.
03:18If the oil runs dry, the bearing will overheat and cease, disabling the truck.
03:29I think I've just clipped a rock off the road.
03:32It happens really.
03:35So I've just got to come up with a solution.
03:38Board you this one up.
03:39Make it work.
03:40That's all I can do.
03:42Come on foodie.
03:43Surely you've got a box of tricks in here somewhere.
03:45Come on foodie.
03:49F**king trucks.
03:56Oh, just...
03:58Mate I'm just about to throw my toys out of the cot.
04:05oh we're on that'll get us out of trouble front axle of the trailer got the same cap as the
04:11front
04:12I change the caps over bodge this cap up tape it up best I can seal it put it on
04:17the back
04:17we can get going so I just got to use the old electrical tape and wrap like hell
04:32oh shit we got dramas again if you look at the difference this is the trailer that's off the
04:38front you know that's significant the bearings sit out a lot further on the hub than what the
04:44steers do so my idea of that's going out the window so what a piss off
04:55ah just gonna have to run it tape and oil don't go well together but you know if he can
05:01get me up
05:01there the rest is history part of bush mechanics you know I've done worse I've done worse I've got no
05:10option I can taste the water at the ferry taste it how close we are sometimes you just got to
05:21do what
05:21you got to do to get yourself out of strife and it's gonna have to do you know let's go
05:39lost an hour with that that's trucking that's when you think you're winning you're losing
05:54corrugation to the gently sharpened up a bit
06:03sitting in the table drain just uh try and make the ride a bit smoother for the you know the
06:08repair
06:09just try and nurse it up there it's the only thing I can really do
06:22I'll probably pull up in a little bit just to check it see how it's traveling
06:33but minus the build defeated at the moment everything can go wrong has gone wrong
06:41this job aim for the faint-hearted and you know I can see why you know not many people
06:47do it and not many trucks do it it takes it out of you
07:00check in this old cat
07:10me
07:21I'm here today picking Shelly up from the airport I've double booked on a job so she's
07:27going to she's flown over to help me out I think she needs to sort of learn something new so
07:32I've
07:32got her some cattle to cart it's a bit of a worry because cattle are unforgiving they kick they chase
07:38yeah didn't get hurt really easy I'm pretty nervous actually I don't know what I'm driving or what size
07:45on the truck is or have how many trailers or anything like that so I'm quite nervous actually
07:54so we got a sign here we'll just a little sign to welcome sign to Perth hello buttercup
08:10I'm good yes which way this way this way don't worry I'll carry my bag
08:23look at that
08:24gee she flash that's her she's a beauty in real life let's get moving because we haven't got all day
08:31where you going you'll need these well I yeah because I ain't driving you're driving
08:38really if you scratch it you're dead this is nerve wracking
08:45holy moly holy shit look at us big girls go I'm gonna die
08:50okay so how does it feel to be driving a real truck so you let people drive your truck often
08:58no
08:59well I feel nobody's driven this really yeah my wife and a couple of mates nobody gets to drive it
09:07it's become now a part of my life I feel I feel spiritual to have actually had it yeah and
09:14because
09:15most people just get to drive a truck not something that the passion and the love yeah that's true
09:21you know and it's been your life like you know when you've been out on jobs for days on end
09:25weeks on end
09:26there's you in the truck yeah isn't there
09:33get it back in the shed
09:35wrong way straighten your truck up just straight now
09:41shelly's trucking career has come a long way in a short time under sludger's guidance
09:47straighten her up now straighten up straighten up
09:52no from struggling to reverse with trailers you've missed that today's the big day off to do the
09:59license she took her multi-combination test
10:07congratulations you see on the roads over here and graduated to be doubles and road trains and new
10:16commercial work we've got the first load today so it's pretty nerve-wracking that yeah I'll be doing it on
10:23my own
10:25g'day sludge I've done my first run that's exciting you've done super well
10:33the trucking cattle is another level
10:38I'm really nervous about this job you know especially when I'm doing the job for you but
10:43then also the fact that I'm cutting the cattle and um you know they're alive and they're breathing and
10:50they need a bit more care and attention than the cotton or the grain so how much experience have you
10:55had with cattle
10:56well I've grown up with cattle I've been around cattle my whole life but um I'd say I'm rookie rookie
11:04trucking cattle is one of the most dangerous cargoes of all
11:08they move and sway tilting the trailers
11:12rollovers are a constant threat
11:19shelley will be cutting cattle for farmer Mark Talbot one of Sludge's most important customers
11:26so Mark's a good guy you want to do a good job don't up for me because it's my customer
11:35and I've got all faith in what you'll do thank you that's why I've asked you to come and help
11:40me
11:40you know it's it's yeah and I appreciate that thank you
11:51oh here we go here we go but there's Mark over there so we'll go and say g'day
12:01how are you Sludge all right Mark how are you mate good to see you good to see you welcome
12:04to Brunswick
12:05hello hello I'm Mark nice to meet you Shelly nice to meet you thanks for having us
12:08this is Marley hello Marley Marley's the boss so what's the story you want to come and cart some
12:13cattle I need the experience trying to teach you something new well it sounds all right if you've got a
12:17bit of time
12:18that'd be great you're in good hands here with Mark so um I'm gonna disappear and go and do Milo
12:22now
12:23thanks thank you when you get done tomorrow give us a ring and yeah
12:28we'll go from there I'll let you know how she goes yeah I'll tell you the truth tell me the
12:32honest
12:32truth all right we'll see you all right careful so we've cut the cord sludge is gone I'm not really
12:39on my own though so Mark's here and um I get a really good vibe from Mark like I feel
12:44like he's
12:44super supportive and I'm going to learn a lot from him so I'm excited about that um but yeah we've
12:50got
12:50got a lot on ahead of us so if you're driving a Volvo FH16 auto shift and also it's got
12:57the
12:57electric steering in it which is something you may not have experienced before no never and
13:01that'll be coupled up to a b double doing the b double for cattle is going to be very interesting
13:05I've got a lot to learn then we might go for a bit of a run and put it all
13:09through the truck
13:09wash and get it all cleaned up ready for tomorrow
13:15put on the brake now press that button in brakes off locked on off the brakes are now off
13:23now to go into um into gear you'll put your foot on the brake again and move into a that's
13:30it just a go
13:30one forward you're in you're in that's it that's automatic and now you all you do is just put your
13:36foot on the accelerator
13:47this is nerve-rack get onto your side that's it
13:54you can't tell me that's not better than changing gears oh it's so good but it's bizarre yeah even
14:01the steering is so smooth and so soft isn't it very direct it'll take a little bit again yeah
14:06i'm sort of struggling with it a bit when you go to back up that's when you notice how good
14:10it is
14:11because it's so easy with no effort in it yeah it doesn't feel like i'm driving a truck at all
14:22so we're going to put into this driveway here on the right
14:26for the health of the cattle being transported the trucks are thoroughly washed between jobs
14:33you're just going to drive through here in a minute pull up about here
14:37all right window up there's going to be bloody water going everywhere i know there you go
14:43oh wow oh my gosh put your wipers on keep moving better keep moving it should be just on walking
14:51pace
14:54and about here or it all starts to break loose
15:03oh holy dooling that's intense i felt that
15:17oh my god oh my god keep going keep going keep going keep going
15:22oh
15:31me
15:42this is stick to my truck thanks at least i got phone reception i can talk
15:47i've got gear in my truck if i was in my truck i'd have that fixed i'd be i'd be
15:52in bamiga by now
15:54i've had enough let's keep going
16:24these corrugation that finally pull you up to walking speed
16:32i thought they were just a myth but here they are rattling the shit out of me
16:41plan was to try and make the ferry no it's only 150 k's like what's going to hurt it here
16:49we are
16:53struggling to see the light of the tunnel at the moment
16:57but you know foodie did warm me and you know i just young eager and you know i just want
17:03to get
17:03the job done just battling on
17:08the road is not just smashing roy's truck it's destroying his wheel bearing bush fix
17:15i'm gonna have to pull up and fix this properly it's it's playing with my head i've got it
17:22it's been made it i just
17:34it's been made it i just
17:44disturbed the disturbed the other one no gasket creates this leakage right here just got to try
17:51anything at this point try and make something
17:58this is not what i signed up for i'm missing my truck a lot a lot
18:18i'm gonna try this cardboard just kind of just making my own gasket this will act as a
18:27as a seal lucky i learned this in school
18:34cutting and tracing out shapes and i suppose school did give me something
18:42make this works i'll be happy now
18:54i'll top it back up with oil and try again
19:02i hope this works
19:15two hours and 15 minutes to go 150 kilometers
19:22that hub's got really got to hold oil because you know if it doesn't keep trading oil and
19:28if i don't keep the oil up to it it's gonna cook the wheel bearing and collapse the wheel bearing
19:33so
19:34i really needed the hold and fingers crossed
20:07it's still leaking but it's not as bad
20:12it's not leaking as bad as it was see what happens
20:20oh hang on
20:22oh my god
20:53Pull her up there, make sure all the water's coming out everywhere.
21:09With her rig clean, Shelley is ready for tomorrow, carting 70 head of unpredictable cattle.
21:16I am really nervous.
21:18That's 70 lives and then marks, so it's a lot of responsibility.
21:23It's not just a big job for me, but it's also remembering that this is Sludge's job, so
21:29I've got to get it done for him.
21:40Shelley, we've got to get mobile, but before we do, let's have a quick look around this
21:44trailer.
21:44When you're loading and unloading trailers, be very, very careful not to put yourself in
21:48a position where you can be pinned back against something with cattle coming back on top of
21:54you.
21:55Use the internal gates as a protection.
21:57When you're loading cattle, always keep yourself behind the gate, put your foot on the bottom
22:02of it and shut like that.
22:04That way if an animal kicks the gate, your leg will absorb the impact and it won't come
22:08back and hit you in the face.
22:09All right, well I think we'd better get going.
22:16Shelley will be doing two jobs for Mark, one today and one tomorrow.
22:22Before today's job even starts, they must make a two-hour, 170-kilometer drive from Mark's
22:29base to collect cattle from Kojanot.
22:33Then it's back the way they came to drop the cattle at a yard in Bunbury.
22:41Get yourself nice and straight and lined up and you'll be able to see the ramp in your
22:45back mirror.
22:46The art of reversing has so far eluded Shelley.
22:51This is the part that I'm the most nervous about.
22:54So you want to try and get your trailers as straight as you can get them.
22:56You should be able to see the ramp in your back mirror.
22:58No, I can't.
23:00Am I going straight back to that?
23:02Yep, if you reckon you're on line.
23:05So you go right hand down to start with.
23:08Right, now take the cab back the other way.
23:13Righto, see now we've lost it again.
23:15We've got to get it back straight.
23:16So go forward and line yourself up.
23:23Into reverse, right hand down, right hand down.
23:28Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going.
23:29Let's hand down hard.
23:33Pull up a little bit.
23:34We've got to get the ramp.
23:37Beautiful.
23:38I know you there.
23:39All good.
23:40You've done well.
23:41Thanks for your help.
23:41Oh, you went straight on.
23:44Don't know about that.
23:48First time ever loading a double-decker of cattle.
23:52Yeah.
23:52Yep.
23:59Hold it.
24:00There you go.
24:02Grab your gate.
24:03Oh.
24:03Oh, oh, oh, oh.
24:04Watch your head.
24:05I hit my head.
24:06Forgot to duck.
24:09I was really focused on making sure that I had my foot on that gate so that if any pressure
24:13was applied, the gate didn't hit me in the face.
24:16You're right.
24:16These were tall people.
24:18And I'm not even that tall.
24:26Done.
24:33We're heading now to the holding yard, so we've got a couple of hours drive ahead.
24:37We need to make sure that we stick to the time slot allocated to get these cattle there
24:41and get them unloaded.
24:45It's not looking too good tomorrow.
24:49Yeah, the forecast is not good.
24:51We've got quite a bit of rain coming.
24:54Damaging winds are possible, even a tornado the West Australian is just putting up now.
24:57Possible tornado?
24:58Yeah.
24:59Yeah.
25:02With the bad forecast, Mark and Shelley now need to squeeze their two jobs into one day.
25:09So we'll have to get back to get this job done tonight.
25:12We don't have much choice now because with this bad weather coming in, it'll get that
25:16wet.
25:16We probably way better get the truck in where we've got to go.
25:18Okay.
25:19We'll have to get these trailers changed over, get the cattle in and get them on and get
25:22you to cart them down to the other farm for us.
25:24So hopefully we'll have enough light today.
25:36Go over to the ramp here.
25:40Start to straighten up, keep going.
25:42Pretty well on the money I reckon.
25:46Hey up, hey up.
25:48Come on.
25:52Done, done.
25:53All good.
25:56Clock's ticking now, so we've moved tomorrow's job to this afternoon to try and fit it in
26:00and try and get it done before dark.
26:02It's absolutely essential that we get this done tonight.
26:05Otherwise it won't get done until mid to late next week, which isn't good enough because
26:11it means the cattle in that paddock at the moment will run out of feed.
26:24We're just going to put the green trailer on.
26:28I'll go and have a quick look at these cattle that's standing there ready to go.
26:31It's going to be pretty tight.
26:37It's not unlocking.
26:43That's got it.
26:48No it doesn't.
26:49The teen pen's still there.
26:51You're in someone else's truck and you don't know what you're doing.
26:55I don't know why it's not opening.
26:57This is what makes you look like a real rookie too.
27:00I hate this.
27:07It's not opening.
27:08I can't do anything.
27:13Oh hang on.
27:17Oh my f***ing son.
27:28Big pot hole in the road.
27:30It just comes out of nowhere.
27:31The road was pretty good too.
27:50Thank the Lord, the roads have got better.
27:53You can sit on, you know, 70, 80 k's now and not at crawling speed though.
27:58You know, it was about 40 k's there, it was just crawling.
28:10Just going to check that patch repair on that front wheel just to see how it's travelling.
28:17That's good.
28:18Still got oil in there but the tape job's looking a bit worse for wear so that's alright.
28:24That's the least of my worries at the moment.
28:26I reckon that'll see us out now.
28:28I think the gasket's finally taken up.
28:32You know, the old home job gasket.
28:35It's a winner.
28:42Victory's on its way.
28:43I can say it might make the ferry but I'm going to make a shower that's for sure.
28:50I'm going to be singing in the shower.
28:57That's the dirt done.
29:02We're on the home stretch.
29:04It's been one hell of a day today, that's for sure.
29:07I've got myself out of trouble, you know.
29:09A bit of bush mechanics and, you know, a bit of using the brain help.
29:20So I've got to cross the ferry first thing in the morning now and I've only ever heard stories
29:24of heat going wrong and you're going across the ferry and your truck goes in the drink.
29:30I don't, I don't plan on that happening to me.
29:33I've just got to, he really gave me some pointers on how to do it.
29:36So we're just, by far then I can't, you know, go wrong really.
29:49We have arrived.
29:52That is a fix of a lifetime.
29:54There is not.
29:57Mate, there is no oil, I betcha.
30:03And look at me now.
30:08Mate, that's, that's, you can't, you can't script that mate.
30:11You know, just.
30:17We nearly made it.
30:18We're in arm's reach.
30:19So yeah, I reckon if I get a good run up I'll be on the other side but, yeah, I
30:24don't
30:25like the look of it.
30:27Crocs floating around in here.
30:31A big fella like me would be like a nice breakfast for them.
30:34Or dinner.
30:35Whatever they prefer.
30:36But yeah.
30:37Oh, we done all right.
30:38We made it.
30:39That's the main thing.
30:40We're here.
30:41Can't complain about that.
30:42It's bloody, it's been a big couple days but we're still at, we're still at half a day's
30:46work, three quarters a day work tomorrow.
30:49Time to have a shower.
31:01Go on.
31:03It's 4.30 now.
31:04We've got at least a 45 minute drive by the time we get the cattle in.
31:07It's gonna be cutting it really fine.
31:09Like I'm not sure if we're gonna get it done in daylight.
31:10All right.
31:12A tornado forecast has forced Shelley and mentor Mark to pull forward their second cattle delivery.
31:19The pressure is on to avoid unloading in the dark.
31:25To add to that, we've got a turntable that's different to my truck.
31:29Can't get that to work.
31:32Urgh.
31:33Frustrates me.
31:35Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
31:37Go on.
31:37Hey, hey, hey.
31:38Boss.
31:40The rookie needs some mentoring.
31:42Righty.
31:43What's the trick with this turntable?
31:46What's it doing?
31:47Well, I'm pulling on it, but it's not opening.
31:50This is the shit that makes a rookie look like a real ****.
31:54Oh, you got it right out there.
31:55That's all right.
31:56That's good to go.
31:57But it's still closed behind it.
32:00This is a real turntable.
32:01Not that rubbish.
32:01You have those little tiny ones over there.
32:03Yes.
32:04As you pull forward, the drawers will open up and come out.
32:07So I've done that right.
32:09You've done it right.
32:10Yeah.
32:15Gosh.
32:21Up.
32:25Oh, shit, that feels funny.
32:32Chickers!
32:36but no one they're guiding me in so I really don't want to hit this part
32:45oh there we are no I reckon we're right hey hey come on the sun's setting fast behind me
32:55it's five o'clock now there's a 45 minute journey we've got a lot to do in a very short
33:01period of
33:01time look at that bloody hell how good was that beautiful I don't want to look at the time because
33:13I can clearly see the Sun dropping so it's a bit of a worry I'm starting to really feel the
33:18pressure
33:18of this of losing the Sun and I can feel it I can feel the tornado coming first time on
33:27my own I'm
33:29quite nervous the Sun will have gone down by the time we get there but hopefully we'll still have
33:36enough light in the day to get these guys off and down the ramp safely unloading in the dark I'm
33:49not
33:49used to it ideally we'd like to do with a little bit of daylight just to be safe
33:54the last term before the farm
34:10gosh I wouldn't want to come in this paddock with a bit of rain it already feels quite soft
34:24oh
34:24oh look fellas out you go come on out you go
34:27hey up hey up hey up hey hey hey hey come on they're hungry
34:34hey hey we didn't want to be doing it in the dark you know we're really hamstrung the weather that's
34:44coming in tomorrow the cattle couldn't have been moved you don't want them here stressed not having
34:48enough feed that's just not an option so we really had to push through and do it today we've made
34:55the
34:55right choice and it has ended well I'd love to do more it's been an amazing learning curve it's
35:03something that I would love to be involved in and get more experience with
35:26hey
35:27hey hey oh how are you got my job done how did you go with your job yeah I got
35:33my jobs done thank you
35:35we ended up um getting it done last night it's a bit dark and we ran out of light but
35:40um today
35:40it's just been pouring all morning so it was good to get it done yes I did have a bit
35:46of a battle backing
35:48the semi in to load the cattle hey you've got to learn to bang and you need another trailer before
35:54you're really ever gonna learn but you'll get better as you go yeah it's definitely something I
35:59need to practice with the two trailers otherwise everything went well Mark was fantastic because
36:04you're learning the right way which is what we've always sort of said it's good to learn the right
36:08way yeah I'm glad we got the jobs done haven't let you down no you did you've done a good
36:13job thank you
36:14very much you're gonna buy a cattle crate now you're gonna give me a loan yeah oh good one that
36:19I don't
36:19have to pay back no tight ass with interest all right thanks for everything bye see ya see ya bye
36:28it's great that I've had so many people to learn from but I want to keep learning and the great
36:33thing is about sludge and mark is that I know that I'll be able to continually learn from them
36:37especially with their depth of experience in years being behind the wheel I've actually picked a good
36:43one to mentor we need truckers out there that you've got faith in I'm excited for the industry to know
36:53that we've got people like Shelley coming through hi you're beautiful right mate I'll talk to you soon
37:11all right back like foodie said 11 o'clock time slot down load this cement powder over there so I've
37:17got a I've got a race over to make that time with the ferry only able to carry one trailer
37:25at a time
37:26Roy will take the much-needed cement powder straight through to Bamaga first
37:36here's the last hurdle the last jump before the other side the ferry is the only way for vehicles
37:45to cross the Jardine River without it Bamaga's supply route is cut off
37:59you know there's a 40 ton weight limit on the on the ferry and I'm going to be 39.5
38:04ton so all right
38:07truck and trailer so I've got a little bit to think about and a little bit nervous
38:12Roy has good reason to be nervous the weight of his truck and trailer will ground the ferry
38:45to refloat the ferry foodies
38:48taught Roy an old trucker's trick
38:52I've got to help the ferry out because it gets stuck because you know 40 tons on the
38:55ferry it's going to bottom out so I've got to go and drive forward and and and budge it
39:07like that like that we're on the ferry this is pretty cool
39:18so
39:31so
39:48You know, we're crawling up the hill now, but one thing I had to mind is just how soft
39:52I'll come off the ferry because I didn't want to spit the ferry out from underneath me.
39:57We've done it.
39:58That's what we want.
40:00That's pretty good.
40:01That's pretty cool.
40:04That's another thing to check off the bugger list.
40:08Ticks.
40:12You know, home stretch now.
40:15I can smell the fresh air at the end of the line.
40:18I'm feeling great.
40:20I've really, you know, chopped.
40:21Seven months into my driving career and, you know, I'm already doing a run after KPO.
40:26That's pretty cool.
40:27I've had a good chance at a fair bit of variety of experience and great mentors along the
40:32way.
40:33It's been a privilege to, you know, know Foodie and know Steve Graham that go out of their
40:41way to help me and, you know, give me pointers where I need it.
40:45Yeah, I appreciate it a lot.
40:54Job done.
40:58How are you, mate?
40:59How are you?
41:00Yeah.
41:01Yeah, look at that one for you.
41:02Oh, mate.
41:04Just how we need.
41:06Yeah.
41:06Cheers, mate.
41:07See ya, mate.
41:07Look, hats off.
41:09I'm really impressed, mate.
41:10If all rookies were like him, the industry's in good hands.
41:13Hey, do you want to come and do it again next week?
41:15Another run next week?
41:18Oh, give me about a week to recover and we'll, you know, ask me this question about a week's
41:23time and I'll have an answer for you.
41:24He ticks all the boxes, mate.
41:26That's the best way I can say it.
41:27There's no bullshit about him.
41:29He just quietly goes and does what he does, you know.
41:31Yeah, mate, he can come and have a work with me any time he wants.
41:34He's in another truck there.
41:35It's already, I'll put his name on it if he's not careful.
41:39Nice one, job done.
41:42That would have to be one of the best experiences I've done in my life.
41:47I'll definitely take this job on again.
41:51Pretty proud to do that job for Foodie and, you know, and for the local community of Bamaga.
42:01It's another successful delivery for Steve Graham's first intake of Rookie Truckers.
42:08I'm proud of my rookies.
42:10Each one of them has had to meet different challenges and they've overcome them quite well.
42:16Steve and fellow mentors Yogi and Sludge searched Australia to find Rookie Truckers who wanted to step up.
42:25Steve Graham.
42:25Nice to see you.
42:27They took on massive loads.
42:30You're not going to see something like that tonight.
42:33Rough roads.
42:34Far out.
42:35And some of the harshest terrain on earth.
42:38I need a break.
42:40From red dirt to city streets.
42:43Jeez, look at that.
42:45F***ing hell.
42:46They battled breakdowns.
42:49F***.
42:49Pissed an oil out.
42:50And deadlines.
42:52I don't have time to sit around.
42:54Oh, no!
42:56Keep going.
42:57To prove they've got what it takes to survive on the open road.
43:02You're done all right.
43:05You're doing all right.
43:06But the hunt continues.
43:09Steve and his team will keep on searching.
43:11Good luck, bud.
43:12For the next generation of rookies.
43:14Yes!
43:15There you go.
43:16It's all.
43:17To take on the toughest trucking job in the world.
43:20Woo!
43:21We finally made it.
43:23Job's done.
43:24I feel optimistic about the future of trucking in Australia.
43:30Here is what it takes.
43:46You're missing pieces.
43:47You're missing pieces.
43:49Now that's amazing.
43:56This track springs repressions.
43:56You
