Third tanker hit in Strait of Hormuz in 24 hours, maritime agency says

00:02Three tankers have reportedly been struck in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
00:07No casualties or impacts to the environment have been recorded.
00:11The British maritime agency said late on Tuesday afternoon
00:15that it had received a report of a tanker sustaining minor structural damage
00:19while passing to the waterway.
00:21The vessel continued to its next spot of call.
00:23Around 35 minutes earlier, the agency said another tanker was reportedly struck
00:29by an unidentified projectile in the Strait causing structural damage.
00:34The UK maritime trade operations centre is investigating the incidents
00:38and advised vessels in the area to proceed with caution.
00:42Early Tuesday morning, a third ship was reported being hit in the region
00:46by an unknown projectile on the port side.
00:49The ship was sailing south out of the Strait close to Oman.
00:52Iran's first state news agency named one of the ships striking the Strait as the Al-Rugayat
00:58and said it had been targeted after allegedly ignoring Iran's Revolutionary Guard Navy warnings
01:04while passing through the Strait's Omani route.
01:07Tehran had said only its approved route to the passage is safe.
01:11A spokesperson for Qatar's foreign ministry has condemned the attack on a Qatari tanker,
01:16calling it an unacceptable attack on the security and safety of international maritime navigation.
