Truck U - Season 22 Episode 4 -Street Smart JL engsub fullfilm🎉🌸🍿 Secret Engagement
Transcript
00:00let's face it the majority of jeeps are never going to see a dirt road or they might see one
00:05every now and then today we're going to show you how to lift this jl and we're keeping everyday
00:09street drivability as our main focus hey welcome to truck u today in the shop we've got ourselves
00:18a bright shiny new 2026 jeep rubicon jl looks good you can see that it hasn't been beaten up
00:25too badly although it's trail rated and been on a few trails most of the time behind the wheel is
00:29spent going down the highway yeah about 99.9 of the time so uh you mentioned the trails that he's
00:35been on that's three more than most jeeps it really is that's facts i've got respect for that
00:39so here's the deal the guy wants to go with 37s on this thing so you've got some issues you
00:44know
00:44there's already issues with just the jeep alone right and then those only get exacerbated when you
00:48lift it and put bigger tires on you got to do it the right way because a lot of guys
00:52will just take
00:53whatever lift they can get their hands on and then it just doesn't work out and the problems only get
00:56worse and we're going to compensate for all that today and we're going to give it something that's
01:00going to drive on the road great but if he does want to take it off-road he'll be able
01:03to do that as
01:04well you know matt it's always great to get out on the road and today we're in this jeep jail
01:11you
01:11know the thing is jeeps look good man they're nice looking vehicles but they ride like a jeep they do
01:17they do basically like and they've got the aerodynamics of a brick right and all of the you know just
01:22the
01:22comfort of one too but you know this one is not bad it's got a couple miles on it but
01:28typical jeep
01:29fashion you can kind of feel a little bit of i don't know if it's i don't know if it's
01:34like sway
01:35it's like sloppy man you know it doesn't have that tight feeling like you have in a traditional car
01:40you know or a coupe or something like that so we want to try and make at least make this
01:43thing a
01:44little bit better handling when you go into and from the mall yep absolutely yeah our goal is street
01:50performance yeah with this one because that's about as off-road as it's ever going to get it's
01:54about as much as it's going to get with this thing there we go
02:10there we go so when you're looking to lift up a vehicle to get the clearance you want for that
02:15bigger wheel and tire reach you've always wanted well this is what you get it's kind of a bare bones
02:19kit so to speak so this guy wants 37s and to clear those 37s he's got to have a two
02:25and a half inch
02:25lift on this jeep so you're looking at basically set of taller springs a little bit longer shocks
02:30and then you've got maybe what a a bump stop and that's really about it now the truth of the
02:37matter
02:37is that'll physically give you the clearance you need for the bigger wheel and tire but doing so
02:41you're going to sacrifice a ton in terms of drivability steering overall ride comfort and when you
02:47talk about a jeep to begin with they're not great when you get them from the factory to begin with
02:51so here's one of the problems with that if if you're raising it up and you're putting heavier wheels and
02:56tires on all this at the other end you're changing the geometry and you're not fixing that now your
03:00steering is going to take a beating and on that steering box that thing is just going to get loose
03:04and looser over time right now this is the whole roamer system from steer smarts and it's an entire chassis
03:10system so not only all that but all this as well and this is where it started for us again
03:15a couple episodes
03:16ago you've got that where the where the pitman arm comes in to the steering box right there the sector
03:20shaft goes down and what this kit does is it ties in at the bottom and then that just makes
03:26a rock
03:26solid connection so steer smarts they fix that problem it gets rid of all that deflection you've
03:30got with that steering with the longer arms and everything it really makes you feel like you've got
03:34a solid steering again it gets rid of the sloppiness so they fixed that and then they went 10 steps
03:38further with the rest of this whole chassis system and this is designed to not only you know a lot
03:43a lot of systems will say we want to maintain that factory ride quality this actually improves
03:47the factory ride quality while going up on the air and operating on a larger tire so that's what it's
03:52all about with this and you can see i mean we've got geometry correction just everything is just
03:58there well and the thing is is like this entire system was built you know from top down so you
04:02get
04:02everything you want in one big skew right well let's just say your budget doesn't quite allow for that
04:07you can piecemeal it together and build it up over the course of time as your budget allows
04:11to end up with the same result okay so what we need to do is go ahead and get started
04:16on the front
04:17i got you bro it's not going anywhere that's kind of fast
04:20come on
04:36have you installed your mouse blocker today you know it's important to protect the things that we
04:41love to use and it doesn't take long for rodents to chew through wiring hoses and insulation causing you
04:47thousands of dollars in damage and it ruins your weekend plans the mouse blocker pro features
04:52flashing lights and their proprietary eviction mode blasting at over 115 decibels to keep mice
04:59out of things like utvs and atvs the mouse blocker 360 is designed for the outside with a robust
05:05aluminum case it projects sound and vibrations in a 360 degree pattern with a thousand square feet
05:11of coverage for boats rvs or anything you have stored outside protect your weekends and vacations
05:17with mouse block
05:27hey welcome back to truck u we've got some new install done we've got springs in place we've got
05:33the bump stops as well as the new relocation brackets for our upper and lower control arms now we're going
05:38to turn our attention to the chassis side of this so to speak and a lot of that steering stuff
05:42some of
05:43the chunkier parts right up here you know your tie rod drag link a track bar sway bar and all
05:48this
05:48that the other one of the things that we had to talk to our guy about was on the rubicon
05:51you got an
05:52electric sway bar and you can keep that and work that with the system if you want to and he
05:57said nah
05:58go ahead and get rid of that too i want the i want the system in there i want the
06:01comfort i want the
06:02ride and all this that the other now when you take that out the only thing it's going to do
06:05is throw up a
06:06little code that says it's been disconnected yeah just a little indicator light on your dash saying
06:10that you disconnected it which you know you already did so it doesn't really change anything you can
06:14still drive it up and down the road and not have any problems but that little lights on and if
06:17you
06:17get a programmer you can get rid of that light it's like when i do something around here and bruno's
06:21like
06:21you just did that and i'm like i know
06:45now that we got all the big stuff out of the way we've got clearance to get in here to
06:49this sector
06:50shaft brace from steer smarts that we talked about a little bit earlier now remember we're
06:55doing this whole roamer chassis system but even if you weren't doing the entire chassis system this
07:01is still a great thing to do because it's going to reinforce that steering box right there basically
07:06the way that this works it's pretty simple this nut comes off the bottom that holds on the pitman arm
07:11and this one replaces it and it's got a longer like a collar on it right that's going to slide
07:16into this
07:16bearing that is going to be mounted right there and this bracket those four bolts come out and
07:22this fits over that like a sleeve and then it all ties together rock solid that's what they call
07:28double sheared which means it's strong at the top and the bottom because look you take a look at this
07:34hanging down it doesn't look like it hangs down really far but that takes a lot of punishment over
07:38time especially if you're doing any kind of off-roading like that and all that's got to do is just
07:42get a
07:42little bit of play in it and that's what makes your steering sloppy so this is a great easy way
07:48to
07:48make that steering rock solid i'm sliding
08:08so when it comes to the final mounting of this bracket it's pretty simple you've got four
08:12bolts up here and there are two right here that actually hold the bearing mount so what i like
08:18to do just get it all up in there nice and loose get a couple threads in on each thing
08:22that way you
08:22know nothing's going to fall down on you at this point now i can tighten it all down and that
08:26baby
08:27will be rock solid and then i can get out of the way so that bruno can start up here
08:30and hitting the
08:31drag links and the cross bars and the sway bars and all that stuff
08:49all right
08:53so now it's time to do a little bit of assembly with some of the components here we've got the
08:56drag
08:57length the tie rod and the track bar and basically you know what's nice is the fact that first of
09:01all
09:01the coatings that are done from the guys at steer smart you know they do an e-coating like you
09:05would
09:06get in production right so what that does is it coats kind of from the inside out but what they
09:10do then
09:10is do a second a dual coating where they actually mask off of the threads and then powder coat the
09:15back side of the parts that's where you get the red floor on here and the black on the back
09:19side so this
09:19way it is dual covered it means you can have less chance of getting corrosion now when it comes to
09:24assembling these you know one side is going to be clockwise the other is going to be counterclockwise
09:28just make sure you use a little bit of anisees on it because a little bit goes a long way
09:33when you
09:34assemble the two together the other thing to keep in mind too which is really nice is the fact that
09:38these are actually undersized a little bit to compensate for that coating so this way when you go
09:43to put it together it's not going to bind and gall up or chip and it'll go in nice and
09:47smooth
09:55sweet
10:19ready to go up some yeah winning like a workout so we've got all the steering and suspension
10:28components are all set in place now a lot of it's kept loose because what you have to do is
10:32set
10:32everything once the vehicle is on the ground you've got weight of it now one thing for the track bar
10:36when
10:36we put this in place good thing to do is take the original one and get the measurement overall length
10:41of
10:41it remember we're assembling all this stuff yourself so you want to get it pretty close but you also
10:45want to keep in mind that it's going to have to be a little bit longer to compensate for the
10:49lift so
10:49what you can kind of do is cheat the axle over a little bit before you bolt it into place
10:53and this
10:53way it'll kind of compensate for when this thing gets under a lift and kind of tightens up up there
10:58once you get it down they even give you the spanner wrench if you need to to adjust it and
11:02get
11:02the axle nice and center and then lock everything down in place all right now moving forward you see
11:07the steering stabilizer that is right down there and that's all set now you think about that that's
11:11pretty easy to move back and forth right and you put that in there and it kind of mildly pulls
11:15one
11:15side against the other and what that does is when you're steering it just makes everything feel nice
11:19and tight and it'll suck up some mild vibration but not the blunt force stuff that we're talking
11:24yeah the blunt force trauma is safe for this yeah that's the attenuator up here on the drag length so
11:28that's a mechanical system that's under high pressure and it's all sealed right there what you see right
11:32there right that is designed to take that blunt force so whether it's like a massive pothole that
11:37you hit or one of those railroad tracks that's not quite smoothed out you know those or you slam
11:42into the side of a rock or something like that that's going to absorb a lot of the impact right
11:46there and keep it from traveling up the steering system to you so i mean you can hit something
11:49massive and you're like oh don't even feel it yeah just keep on keeping on yeah exactly so i know
11:54that
11:55we're good but we do have to tighten everything up so yeah it's a good time for you guys to
11:58take a break
11:59when we tighten this stuff up because when you come back we're going to be at the back of the
12:02truck
12:02continuing our work here looks good though yeah man hey welcome back to truck you we're continuing
12:15our chassis system on this 2026 jl now a lot of the work up front has been done focus now
12:21is on the back
12:22and thankfully it's a lot easier back here than up front yeah pretty much back here we've got springs
12:29shocks we've got a new sway bar new heavy duty crossbar and that's that's about it back here
12:34right there's going to be a lot less work in the front which is cool but you know what another
12:37cool
12:37thing is about this system are these bolts right here these are magni coated and what that means
12:42to you and me is that these are oe style bolts and that's just another thing that makes this
12:47whole system so unique you know we talked about the front being a lot of work right and if it's
12:51something that you're not comfortable with doing personally what you can do is you go on the website and
12:55they've got a list of different installers that can do the work for you and make sure it's done
12:59right did you get a copy of that list for us i did next time i think we need to
13:03just make a phone call
13:19fair enough
13:19and tight
13:24so we got that whole chassis system from steer smarts that's all complete now this thing will
13:28drive around smooth as could be like a 1970s cat like bro oh man right did i take you back
13:33yes
13:34you did now it's time though it's a focus on the sound of the vehicle right and when it comes
13:38to
13:38that we've switched the guys at valvetronics because it gives you some options that we've had
13:42a lot of fun with yeah it's selectable and you can control it from the cab because they got a
13:45vacuum
13:46pump that opens and closes a valve so you want it louder you can do it you want it quieter
13:49you can
13:50do that we put it on a raptor last season right and we really liked it we thought okay this
13:54is cool
13:55we want to do another one of these and we've actually got this one for the willies project and we'll
13:59get to that here in a little bit but this is the universal one so this is one that you
14:03would put in
14:04pretty much anything and then you weld all your tubing in around it and you build that but this
14:09is a little bit different and this is the birth child of a phone call you were having with yeah
14:12yeah it's pretty cool on the phone with them and they were talking about some of the new projects they
14:15got going and this is a complete kit for a late model like this a 26 jeep jl the nice
14:21thing about this
14:22whole kit is you don't have to be a fabricator to make it all work it simply bolts into place
14:26which
14:27makes it great because some people are a little intimidated to break out the welder sure sure and
14:31this is your tubing that basically starts a little bit up front of the axle and then to the axle
14:36and
14:36this is everything to the back so t304 stainless so it's going to be durable it's going to hold up
14:40and another thing i like are these little removable tips so that's pretty cool if you're going to do
14:44some off-roading i mean this guy's never going to do it we just set this whole thing up for
14:47highway
14:47driving but if you were someone to do offset roading and you want to have a little more clearance you
14:51don't want to bang them off you can take them off and put them back on again once you're on
14:54the regular road
15:22if you're going for a classic look in your truck with a din style radio or you've got
15:27a classic vehicle where the dash is already cut out the custom autosound usa4 din radio is exactly
15:32what you need the usa4 din comes in either a black or chrome face and it features a jumbo sized
15:37multi-color display this has the classic radio look and also includes a built-in cd player rca pre
15:44outs for adding an amplifier and bluetooth capability for streaming from your favorite mobile device
15:49the custom autosound usa4 din radio is a great way to add that classic look to most of your trucks
15:54that
15:54are 84 and up and also your classics with modified dashes hot shot secret two-step oil treatment
16:00featuring stiction eliminator and fr3 friction reducer will give your vehicle the maintenance
16:05and protection that you want it to have the best part is it's simple to do step one add stiction
16:11eliminator and your next oil change step two is to add fr3 friction reducer during your following two
16:16oil change services stiction eliminator is a powerful cleaner and lubricator it reduces engine wear by up to
16:2262 percent more than oil alone it quiets the engine increases fuel economy and restores power and
16:28compression fr3 friction reducer increases fuel economy up to 4.3 percent and horsepower up to 5
16:36it reduces engine wear up to 42 percent and improves host oil properties in terms of sheer
16:41oxidation and thermal resistance best of all hot shot secret offers a money-back guarantee if it
16:46doesn't live up to your expectations but it will
16:59hey man i gotta say these wheels and tires make a big difference on this thing it looks great yeah
17:04you know i mean i think the easiest way to address a vehicle besides painting it is wheels and tires
17:07i
17:07mean you can make a big impact right and again we haven't talked about this in a long time but
17:11everybody knows i like my stuff ridiculously tall right and this this isn't but this looks good
17:17and and for what it is going to be driving around again takes me back to driving through the mall
17:21and
17:21you kicking the shopping carts that was fun those are the good old days man you can't get away with
17:24that these days it was another jeep we we went out to the beach that one night we did get
17:28a lot of
17:28ducks across the windshield of that jeep dude i want i know this one is duckless i've got a stance
17:33on
17:33that here in just a second but in the meantime we also did the exhaust so you want to uh
17:36take a look at
17:37oh well dude the whole uh the whole the rock i just can't wait to get down and drive it
17:40yeah
17:41that's what i'm excited about too i mean i'm going to hear this thing around here in a second but
17:44just to feel the feel this thing see if it actually fixes the sloppy drive feel you get when you're
17:49cheap well that steer smarts chassis system it looked really good it went in nice and easy it was
17:53a fair amount of work but i mean a lot of parts of pieces but yeah you can tell it
17:58was properly
17:58engineered right yeah they actually put some work into engineering it was nice and that whole
18:02steering is not going to get loose so all right buddy you ready lots of stuff yeah i think it's
18:06i got the remote in my hand right now right so i think it's closed yeah okay so that's quiet
18:13yeah
18:13we're rolling through the neighborhood nobody's getting mad except when he does that all right
18:20now open her up driving like our kids all right let me open it oh i hear it
18:31nice a little racy that is that's a lot louder yeah no that's uh well it's not just louder it's
18:37kind of it's got a little pep to it stuff sounds a little angry i was going to go back
18:41to this but
18:41that's okay don't worry about me so you mentioned the ducks right and uh i had some sticker ideas too
18:47because there's a vinyl shop right down the road and we get some custom work done i've seen some of
18:50the
18:56the windshield or don't duck me hold on i have to work on the phrasing a little bit in the
19:01font
19:01you need to be careful what that detail looks like you do but like or no ducks here right
19:07something hey maybe let's just stay away from the whole duck talk yeah all right fair enough fair
19:11enough all right this is all good looks good sounds good when you need to get it out and take
19:15a ride on
19:16it sure but uh we need to do the other we need to do the other exhaust first on the
19:19willies right
19:20always something to do let's get that done first and then we can go have fun because if we have
19:25fun
19:25first then we're not going to get any work nothing's getting done so our gpl is done and it sounds
19:32awesome now it's time to put our focus on the universal setup that we've got for the willies
19:37now here is our muffler setup and the smallest size they have they offer is a two and a half
19:42inch
19:42tube right here really not an issue because what we're going to be working with is two and a quarter
19:46so all you have to do is put a little adapter on here we're welded in place probably actually
19:51i think we'll go here and cut it so it butts up nice and smooth and then we've got a
19:56flange right
19:56here for our v-band now the whole idea is to do the work here versus like this because it's
20:02a whole
20:02lot easier to do so basically you've got your header here this exhaust tube coming off of it
20:06this flange will be on there which will clamp right here and we are plugging along now i just got
20:13to start doing some molding
20:32let's see how we feel i dig it yeah man i dig it yeah this is tighter a little more
20:38responsive
20:39it's still a jeep it's still a jeep but this is nice yeah you don't you're not getting that body
20:42roll
20:43and that loose feel i'm not feeling i'm getting nauseous as we're going down the road yeah sorry
20:46about that yeah even with the 37s we put on this thing yeah you know what i mean it handles
20:49so much
20:50better again man it's this is a vehicle that is going to be driven on the daily it's not going
20:55off-road and so we want to make sure that you get as best ride you can out of it
20:58knowing that it's
20:59still a jeep even if they get crazy one day and go down a dirt road or a gravel road
21:04they're going to
21:05be able to do it so i i feel good about that dude how about the valvetronic exhaust that is
21:09so cool
21:09man i i just love the fact that you've got some options you want to cruise down like you know
21:14you
21:14know be like a regular street car you have that thing closed off you hit a button it's wide open
21:18headers and it sounds a little bit nastier yeah you know the thing is we put one on that willies
21:24too
21:25man and that's going to be huge on that because that motor is going to really rumble it's like the
21:29old truck with a handful of new things on it it's nice it actually looks really cool it's a hodgepodge
21:35of
21:35new and old man it's it's cool all right man that's all the time we got today for truck you
21:39we'll see
21:39you guys next time
