The focus now turns to the contest for Paul Papalia’s soon to be vacated seat of Secret Harbour. While it is regarded as a safe Labor seat, Australia’s political landscape is shifting at rapid speed, and One Nation has wasted no time in declaring itself a front runner.

00:26albeit with a diminished margin of 11.5%.

00:35Last year One Nation secured just over 8% of the primary vote in Secret Harbour,
00:40but it's now talking a big game.
00:43If we run a great campaign, we make sure we talk to the people
00:47and let them know that we're going to deliver for them,
00:49we will sink Labor in Secret Harbour.
00:51A by-election in this seat will offer some insight into WA's current political landscape.
00:57Not only will it test whether One Nation can win over local voters,
01:02it may also reveal the relationship between the minor party and the Liberals.

01:13If they run and we won, well we'll be preferencing them above Labor, that's for sure.
01:18Normally a margin of around 11 or 12% is a fairly safe seat and a fairly safe margin.

01:28While Labor has already opened pre-selection nominations for the seat,
01:32the Liberal Party will meet later this week to decide whether to contest.
