00:00Nancy Pelosi is preparing to retire after nearly 40 years in Congress, but this week's news isn't
00:04about her politics, it's about her husband. Paul Pelosi is facing a possible misdemeanor
00:09hit-and-run charge after authorities say he crashed his convertible into a parked car in
00:13Napa County, California over the weekend and then drove away. His car eventually broke down not far
00:18from the incident. Now, investigators say Pelosi told deputies that he knew he had hit something
00:22but didn't know what it was. Now, the sheriff's office says alcohol was not a factor. Pelosi
00:26registered a blood alcohol content of zero, and authorities are recommending a misdemeanor
00:31property damage hit-and-run charge. A spokesperson for the Pelosi family says Paul has personally
00:36apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and promised to take responsibility for the repairs.
00:41Now, this isn't the first time he's been in hot water for his actions behind the wheel.
00:45He previously pled guilty to a DUI charge following a 2022 crash. For that one, he was sentenced to
00:51five days in jail and three years of probation, ordered to pay $6,800 in fines and restitution
00:56and complete a DUI program. And way back in 1957, when he was just 16 years old, Paul flipped his
01:03sports car and killed his older brother while driving near San Mateo, that's south of San Francisco.
01:08According to a patrolman quoted by the San Francisco Examiner at the time, his 19-year-old brother David,
01:14who was a passenger, had apparently urged him to drive slower before the fatal incident.
