00:10Greetings comrades, I'm reporting from Beijing about the Typhoon Maisac, the first to make
00:16landfall in China this year, and the tenth storm of the Pacific Typhoon season, that
00:23is still bringing heavy rain and flooding to the south of the country, although it has
00:29weakened in the last day.
00:30The system hit Hainan province with winds up to 23 meters per second, around 83 kilometers
00:39per hour, before moving toward Guangxi and the northern Vietnam.
00:45Several provinces are still under level floor flood and storm alert.
00:50In Naning, the capital of Guangxi, authorities raised flood alerts to the highest level after
00:57rising river levels and the collapse of a medium-sized reservoir in Hangzhou, which forced people
01:05in risk areas to evacuate.
01:08Before the Typhoon arrived, more than 23,000 people were evacuated in Guangdong province.
01:17Flights, trains and part of the sea transport in Hainan were also suspended.
01:23Emergency teams are working in the affected areas, carrying out rescue, clean-up and draining
01:31operation.
01:33Meteorologist warns that even though the storm has weakened, heavy rain may continue in the
01:40coming days across southern China, with a risk of further floating.
