00:00My perfect Thanksgiving plate?
00:01I am so glad you asked.
00:03In my family, Thanksgiving looks like this.
00:06A potluck of Pyrex and Corningware dishes
00:09precariously placed on every kitchen counter surface
00:12so that you have to reach over people
00:14and cover dishes in order to fix your plate.
00:16It is one of my most favorite meals of the year,
00:18so let's break it down.
00:20Obviously, there is fried turkey.
00:21I don't do roasted turkey, period.
00:23Next to that, we've got cornbread dressing
00:25served with giblet gravy.
00:28The dressing is so moist, though,
00:30the gravy is not really necessary, but it is mandatory.
00:34Touching that, cranberry sauce, the canned kind.
00:37I don't mind my cranberry sauce touching my greens,
00:40collards, or mustards cooked with a lot of smoked pork.
00:43Same with the peas.
00:45Those are topped with something pickled,
00:47like onion relish or marinated vegetables.
00:50Now, beside the turkey, we've got sweet potatoes.
00:53I prefer the savory kind,
00:55not the kind topped with marshmallows.
00:57Right here, up top, pineapple casserole.
01:00It is a vegetable side and mandatory
01:03at Thanksgiving in my family.
01:05Up in the corner, it's not a holiday without a deviled egg, y'all.
01:08Deviled eggs belong on the Thanksgiving plate.
01:11Last but not least, a roll topped with lots of butter.
01:14Notice what I did not mention is mac and cheese or mashed potatoes.
01:17I know, I know, but for me, when it comes to my Thanksgiving plate, I prefer my carbs, and I
01:24love carbs,
01:25to be Thanksgiving specific, like dressing and sweet potatoes.
01:30What did I miss? What is on y'all's perfect Thanksgiving plate?
01:34All right.
