Drivers are being urged to avoid Gateshead town centre during the next phase of the flyover demolition. The council says the closure is expected to bring the most significant disruption so far, while businesses remain open throughout the works.

00:09Gateshead Council says that the closure, beginning on Saturday 25th July, will be the most complex
00:15stage of the whole project, and it's expected to go on for several weeks.
00:19Officials are advising all commuters to use the A1, the A19 or the Tine Tunnel where possible.
00:26They've also suggested that people consider travelling by public transport, walking or cycling.
00:32The Council says businesses remain open, while Round the Clockwork aims to reopen the junction
00:38as quickly as possible.
