Hundreds of students turned out at Caribbean Airlines' first career fair on Thursday, where they got the chance to interface with representatives from a wide range of industries. Among them - a number of aspiring journalists, who took the opportunity to show CCN TV6 what they're working with. Rynessa Cutting has more.

00:21 Sport lovers, aspiring economists, future pilots,
00:25 just a small cross-section of the hundreds of young people
00:28 who attended Carbon Airlines' inaugural career fair today.
00:32 When we first came, we had to wait for a little while, but it's ok.
00:35 As soon as we came inside, we went by the first booth, they were actually really nice.
00:38 We learnt a lot of stuff about the types of airlines they have,
00:40 where they come in and fly to. We learnt a lot of stuff in the first booth.
00:43 And what career path are you considering?
00:46 Personally, I would want to be a pilot.
00:49 30 exhibitors from a wide range of sectors were at the expo,
00:53 a few of which represented industries which align with aviation and travel.
00:59 For aviation and related industries, we have the UTT here.
01:03 UTT is one of our partners and UTT has an aviation programme.
01:07 We also have many representatives from across the organisation here.
01:11 We have engineers, technicians, cabin crew, pilots.
01:16 We have a simulator here, so persons have a very immersive experience.
01:21 And that is what we're about. We're having an immersive experience.
01:24 There are workshops taking place in various areas,
01:28 mental health, self-care, conflict resolution.
01:33 Carl says it intends to make the career expo big and better next year,
01:37 as it seeks to help develop and prepare the youth for the world of work.
01:42 On October 27th, Caribbean Airlines and the University of the Western Lees
01:47 signed an MOU. We have the second cohort of interns
01:52 currently at Caribbean Airlines through that MOU,
01:55 and we also operate a summer intern vacation programme.
02:00 A total of 70 schools participated in the career fair.
