Marcos woos Canadian investors in mining, critical minerals

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday (Saturday in Manila) meets with top executives of Canadian firms to discuss investment opportunities, sustainable resource development, and stronger cooperation in the mining and energy sectors during his visit to Vancouver, Canada. Joined by Cabinet secretaries, Marcos held talks with executives of Canadian gold mining companies B2Gold Corporation and OceanGold Corporation at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. He also led a roundtable discussion on mining, critical minerals, and energy as the Philippines seeks to attract responsible mining and sustainable investments. During the event, the President witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding among the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines, and the Business Council of Canada. Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the roundtable underscored the participants' shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in sectors "central to the global energy transition."
