00:01In May of 2026, Floyd Mayweather Jr. went on the hunt for $175 million.
00:07But not in the ring.
00:09The undefeated boxing icon filed a lawsuit accusing his former investment manager
00:13and his longtime real estate advisor of defrauding him over several years.
00:19It was the perfect capstone to an awesomely ugly month.
00:22Financial problems, legal problems, personal problems.
00:25They all seemed to be crashing into each other at once.
00:28Like the man himself had finally maxed out the Karmic credit card behind the money Mayweather persona.
00:35His planned September rematch with Manny Pacquiao was supposed to headline Las Vegas' fear on Netflix.
00:41But it was relocated when Mayweather tried reframing it as an exhibition.
00:47Around the same time, Mayweather was ordered to pay $1 million in child support
00:51for a daughter he repeatedly denied was his.
00:54A court ruled against him after he refused DNA testing, despite being served legal papers multiple times.
01:00He said absolutely nothing publicly.
01:04Then there was the exhibition bout against the heavyweight legend Mike Tyson,
01:08which would have potentially been a handy financial lifeline.
01:11Except it was pushed back to late 2026 after Tyson broke his hand,
01:15before a broadcaster venue or official date were even locked in.
01:20And hovering over the whole month was the IRS,
01:24reportedly chasing Mayweather for $7.5 million in unpaid taxes.
01:29It was laughable how bad his life had become.
01:31And that's the uncomfortable reality he was starting to live with.
01:34Not that he might be poor, but that his life was catching up with him.
01:39Inside the ropes, Mayweather was ridiculous.
01:4250 wins, 0 losses, world titles across multiple divisions,
01:47generational defensive instincts,
01:48a first ballot Hall of Famer who humiliated some of the best boxers the world has ever known.
01:54No one is denying any of that.
01:58Just like no one is denying that Carlos Monson remains one of the greatest middleweights ever.
02:03But no one in their right mind frames him as an inspirational figure anymore,
02:07because he crossed the line no one can come back from.
02:12Monson's downfall was horrific.
02:15Domestic violence accusations, assault allegations,
02:18it was all drug and alcohol-fuelled chaos,
02:20and the media loved all of it,
02:23until he was convicted of killing his second wife.
02:27To be crystal clear, nobody is comparing Mayweather to a murderer.
02:30That's horrific.
02:31But boxing's moral line has always felt strangely elastic
02:35depending on how many pay-per-views somebody sells.
02:38And beyond the legal headlines,
02:40Mayweather's problematic behaviour has been relentless.
02:43You f***! You f***!
02:45Former employees and associates have accused him of unpaid compensation
02:48and exploited of business practices.
02:51Civil suits of alleged fraud, breach of contract,
02:54and financial misconduct tied to investments and advisers surrounding his empire.
02:58No!
02:59No!
03:01Then there are the incidents of threats and intimidation
03:04involving alleged altercations between members of his entourage and the public,
03:08fighters, journalists and former associates.
03:10But this is all just noise compared to his repeated involvement in domestic violence cases.
03:17There have been multiple allegations across multiple relationships over many years.
03:23Mayweather has even pleaded guilty to reduce domestic violence charges
03:26and serve jail time stemming from a misdemeanor domestic battery conviction
03:30that involved the mother of three of his children.
03:34None of this is rumour.
03:36It's all part of the public record.
03:38Yet somehow, he's made it an afterthought in discussions about his legacy.
03:42That's the real trick Mayweather pulled off better than anybody.
03:45He sold the idea that success buys a blind eye.
03:51For a disturbingly long time, boxing fans, sponsors and broadcasters happily played along.
03:57And that's the problem.
03:58The money Mayweather monster didn't survive because of Floyd.
04:02It survived because everybody kept feeding it.
