00:00Hey, this is Vilko Yak from Barefoot Bushcraft, and I really love my Apple Watch.
00:05I've had an Apple Watch now for many, many years.
00:08I had one of the first-generation ones, and now I've sort of, you know, as they wear out,
00:13I buy another one and another one.
00:15This is an older one.
00:15It's a Series 6, if it matters, 44 millimeters.
00:19I love this watch.
00:20I use it every single day.
00:22I really, really prefer a much more natural-looking watch band.
00:26This is the leather band.
00:27This is about the fourth or fifth one.
00:29I've got these, I've got them off Amazon.
00:31I've got them off Etsy, and they're leather, but you can see all of the holes there.
00:35See how they kind of all just stretch out over time, and if I flip it over,
00:39you can see even, you know, good-quality leather or bad-quality leather.
00:43See how they just all kind of, just sort of all fall apart like that,
00:46and I really don't appreciate that as much as I love the look and the feel of the leather.
00:52So I was kind of shopping around for something that is a little more hardcore and heavy-duty.
00:57This is arguably the toughest Apple watch case on the market.
01:01It's the Ultimal.
01:02This particular one came from Amazon.
01:04It's the Shield Protect Band.
01:07So let's open this up and take a look at it.
01:10It looks like there's some stuff inside in the case.
01:14So the idea, of course, is as a professional outdoor educator,
01:17I never know whether I'm going to be climbing a mountain, you know, tackled by small children,
01:23canoeing.
01:24Who knows?
01:24Like, I could be anywhere, anytime in the world doing anything, really.
01:28So my watch will often take a beating for that.
01:33So I'm always trying to find the toughest thing possible.
01:37Apparently this is it.
01:38So it comes with this weird-looking guitar pick thing.
01:42And let's open this up here, and it's probably just little instructions I'm going to guess on how to put
01:47it in there.
01:48And that's what it is.
01:49It shows a little finger or a thumb there, pushing the back on it.
01:55There we go.
01:57Okay, so let's take a look at it.
01:59So the case itself is pretty, feels like some kind of rubber or maybe, I don't know, latex or something.
02:06It's got, like, it's really hardcore looking.
02:09I kind of like that.
02:10But, again, if you're a very small person, you know, this may not be the right tool for you because
02:16it's huge, which is what I like.
02:19I want something giant.
02:20So let's just open it up here.
02:22There we go.
02:23So looking at it, it has its own independent crown right there.
02:28I kind of like that.
02:29So the crown from my Apple Watch itself fits in there.
02:34And look how easy the installation is.
02:37Like, there's no messing around, man.
02:38It just goes, oh, it's in.
02:40Now, when I turn that, I can see in there, I can see the little crown actually moving.
02:46So it is working.
02:47It touches.
02:50And you don't have to worry about all the buttons.
02:51Everything works the way it's supposed to.
02:53And then this is the cap, right?
02:56Make sure they line up all to mall on that side of the top and on that side of the
02:59top.
03:01And then it just sort of snaps into place.
03:03And that's it.
03:04And look how much it has, I guess, once it's attached properly.
03:07There we go.
03:08I hear some clicking, so it must be in place.
03:10So that's basically it.
03:13Man, that makes your watch, like, way bigger, way tougher.
03:19One of the things I do like about this watch is it does not come with the clear shield on
03:28it, right?
03:28So you can see I can put my finger right in there and the shield itself.
03:34The reason I like that is so that dust and crack doesn't catch underneath it, right?
03:39So, again, I'm going to line up the Ultimol down there with the Ultimol here.
03:44So I guess in case it happens to be keyed, put that on there.
03:49Work it in around the edges so you can hear it click and snap.
03:52And now it has made my Apple Watch into a super-duper rugged-looking thing.
03:59Let's try to try it on here.
04:02Now, you know, you may not wear the Apple Watch the way I do, and that is okay.
04:05I have a reason that I have it the way I have it.
04:10And basically, that's it.
04:13That's on me.
04:14And I will say it's significantly more formidable.
04:18I like all the rubber and stuff around it.
04:20I like it's got the double buckle.
04:22That's just a very cool-looking thing for it.
04:27All right, so the one thing that's important to know about this watch is that there is a feature that
04:31this watch turns off.
04:32So if I click this, the single-lead ECG, see it says hold your finger on the crown, it can't
04:40do it.
04:42So in order to use this feature, I would have to take the watch out of the case.
04:49So if it's an important feature that you use the ECG single-lead if you're tracking your heart rate or
04:56whatever,
04:57it's really important that you know that this feature doesn't work with the watch.
05:03That's about the only thing that I thought that's a bit of a pain in the butt.
05:07But other than that, it's great.
05:10What I'll probably do is I'll wear it for a month or two.
05:12Then I will make another video about how it held up so you can see.
05:17But yeah, so this is a 44-millimeter Apple Watch 6, if that matters to you.
05:23And like I said, it is a formidable-looking piece of thing.
05:26I like all that.
05:27Lots of rubber on there.
05:30But that's the watch strap.
05:32If you want to get your Apple Watch out, they give you this guitar pick-like thing.
05:37Because I guess taking this off is really hard.
05:40And you can push it in there, and you can get this little guy out if you need to clean
05:44it or whatever.
05:45And then, again, when you put it back, you know it's back because it clicks.
05:49I can hear it.
05:50There it goes.
05:51And that's that.
05:52That is back in.
05:53And that is ready to mount on my wrist.
05:57Once again, Vilko Yak for Barefoot Bushcraft.
