00:00A former volunteer for a Wisconsin Democratic congressional campaign is under fire
00:04after posting a series of troubling social media videos calling for violence against Republicans.
00:10Taya De La Rue, a transgender activist who briefly worked on the campaign of Democratic
00:14Socialist Katrina DeVille, appeared in one video sitting in front of a whiteboard that read,
00:19Kill Your Local Republican. In another, the activist said this.
00:23We are doing trans jihad, and this is something everybody can actually kind of partake in a
00:27little bit in a year because it's about making the oppressor, the bigots, the animals that make up
00:33makeup, for example. We're going to do the reverse. We're going to make it so that they will be the
00:38ones that have to walk down the streets in fear and anxiety and worry.
00:42De La Rue also posted a written message calling for a, quote, existential struggle against what
00:46was described as society's treatment of transgender people. Now, Katrina DeVille, also transgender,
00:52who was running in this summer's Democratic primary to represent Wisconsin's 8th district,
00:56condemned the calls for violence, and said De La Rue only volunteered for the campaign for a short
01:01time before being removed after it became clear the activist was, in DeVille's words,
01:05deeply troubled. De La Rue was later blocked from all of DeVille's campaign accounts for,
01:10quote, actively creating a dangerous situation.
