Tan Sri Azam Baki's appointment to the National Anti-Financial Crime Centre (NFCC) Advisory Board is unrelated to his former role as Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers, Anwar said Azam's appointment was made under the authority of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and remains valid until 2027.
