00:00Cost of living is the top concern for Johor voters ahead of the July 11th state election.
00:07A survey by the Institute of Strategic Analysis Policy Research and two local universities found
00:14that around 60% of its respondents cited the rising living costs as their biggest concern.
00:21The survey was conducted in mid-April and polled 4,000 participants with Chinese respondents
00:27making up nearly half of the sample. In-Sub chairman Pamela Yong said the findings showed the election
00:34would be decided at the kitchen table with voters prioritizing everyday financial pressures
00:40over other issues. She said nearly half of the respondents across races were concerned about
00:47roads, drains, lighting, traffic and parking while one in four wanted jobs closer to home.
00:53Yong said despite some federal policy concerns, many respondents still trusted the Johor government
01:00to manage the state's economic challenges. She said the findings show what voters are
01:06prioritizing ahead of the July 11th Johor election.
