00:03Iran's most senior clerics have called for the assassinations of President Trump and Israeli
00:07Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring the leaders mador al-dam, or deserving of death.
00:13The 88-member body called the Assembly of Experts issued a 10-point statement in which
00:19they wrote that killing the, quote, wicked prime minister of the Zionist regime and the
00:23criminal American president was a religious duty that must be carried out under any circumstances.
00:30The clerics, who were constitutionally tasked with choosing and supervising the Supreme
00:33Leader, wrote that avenging the death of the late Ayatollah was of paramount importance.
00:39It is obligatory upon any duty-bound person who gains access to these criminals to send
00:44them to hell, they wrote.
00:46Meanwhile, Iranian newspaper Hamshari ran a front-page story featuring Trump's face and
00:51the crosshairs of a rifle scope, with a banner headline reading, Revenge is Certain.
00:56The clerics also warned that the ongoing ceasefire negotiations to end the war were merely a
01:02delay tactic to give the U.S. more time to plan another round of attacks.
01:06The explicit remarks from the clerics, who play a central role in governing the Islamic Republic,
01:12come at a pivotal moment as the U.S. and Iran attempt to work out a permanent peace deal.
01:16This week's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Qatar for what the White
01:22House described as high-level talks on Iran through mediators.
01:26Tehran officials have said the two sides must still sort out the terms of a fragile ceasefire,
01:31signed two weeks ago before they could tackle more difficult topics, such as possible limits
01:36to its nuclear program.
01:38The developments indicate the two sides are far apart on key pillars of the initial framework,
01:43which calls for Iran to lift its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for financial
01:48incentives, and sets up 60 days of negotiations to achieve lasting peace.
