00:09hosting the two-day event on September 9th and 10th. The unusual gathering is designed to build
00:13momentum heading into November's midterm elections and comes as Republicans look to expand their
00:18majorities in Congress. On Truth Social, Trump called the event a truly historic celebration of
00:23what he described as the great American comeback. The president said the convention will highlight
00:27his America First agenda, including no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, stronger borders, lower costs,
00:33American energy dominance, and what he called the country's golden age. Trump also promised
00:37appearances by entrepreneurs, manufacturers, first responders, and he said lots of great
00:41entertainment, calling it a rally like none other. And Texas is an interesting choice given the
00:45importance of the midterms in the Lone Star State. State Attorney General Ken Paxton is locked in a
00:51high-stakes Senate race against James Tallarico, and the state is also expected to gain additional
00:56Republican-leaning House seats through redistricting.
