'We asked Trump to stop playing YMCA', says singer Victor Willis Source: BBC
Transcript
00:00When you see your music being played at Trump political rallies, how do you react?
00:05I like hearing the music at all times, and I like the fact that fans of all kinds, Democrat or
00:10Republican, they all like YMCA.
00:14And that is something that's very pleasing to me.
00:17YMCA, as a matter of fact, has even gone up to number 14 on the charts, on the Billboard charts,
00:24for dance music this week.
00:28As far as endorsing Trump, I don't endorse Trump.
00:32I've never endorsed Trump, nor has the village people.
00:35So we have even asked him basically to even stop playing our music at his rallies.
00:41But because of the copyright law in the United States, which comes under a blanket licensee, he's able to play
00:48our music anytime he wants to at any venue because he's not using it in an incorrect way.
00:55So we don't knock it.
00:56Has he got the moves?
00:58You like his rhythm?
01:00Donald Trump does what Donald Trump does.
01:03I've never seen him actually put his hands up and make the YMCA, you know, because he, like you said,
01:09he's changed it to M-A-G-A or something, you know.
