00:13hoping to secure their hands on a box of explosives.
00:17It is, of course, Territory Day here in the NT,
00:20which is the only day Australians over the age of 18 can legally buy and then set off fireworks.

00:50For the occasion, hundreds of tonnes of pyrotechnics have been imported from many places across the world,
00:57mostly China, just for today.
00:59At this shop alone, 14 tonnes have made their way here
01:02and to put that into perspective, about 9 tonnes of pyrotechnics go off at the Sydney Harbour New Year's Eve
01:07fireworks every year.
01:09Oh, that's 14 tonnes in this shop. Just this shop.
01:11We have, I think, 140 different items or packs this year.
01:15I think we've got five different brands this year.
01:17And yeah, there's a huge number of fireworks.
01:19Stuff that goes from $2 all the way up to $600 to $800 for packs.
01:23We are expecting a little bit of rain here in the Northern Territory,
01:26which is quite unseasonable considering that we are in dry season at the moment.
01:30So we're hoping that won't put too much of a dampener on festivities
01:33so we can all have a cracker of a day.
