00:00Ja Morant is going to the Portland Trailblazers. My goodness, what a trade you could have knocked me over with
00:08a feather when this puppy broke yesterday. It is interesting when you look at Ja and, you know, Ja Morant
00:16over the last three years, never available, only played 70 plus games because of injuries and obviously you think about
00:24everything that transpired with off the court issues and guns and
00:29frankly, you know, he was just, he wasn't a good teammate or a good guy and didn't do right by
00:35the great fans of the Memphis Grizzlies. So, you know, it's kind of crazy to consider it was Desmond Bain
00:41and it was Jared Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant and there was that period of time, right, where, you know,
00:48you kind of felt like the Grizz can go on a run and or win the West and or win
00:54a chip 2024, 2025 and Ja just absolutely torpedoed
00:59everything. So, you know, I'm not a Ja Morant fan based upon what he did and did to the organization
01:05and did to the fans in Memphis. Loved him in college, was sad when the Knicks got the third pick
01:09and Ja went to, wanted him on the Knicks in the worst possible way. Not going to pretend that I
01:14didn't. So, I'm not a Ja fan based upon Memphis. I do believe in second chances. Changes scenery here for
01:21Ja Morant, I believe, is fantastic.
01:23Now, it's an interesting fit because you have Dame and obviously you, you have, you know, Sharp and you have
01:32Devi and you have a lot of ballplayers who kind of do the same things in, in Portland. Damian Lillard
01:39is going to be back and I hope that Ja Morant learns from him. You know, originally we thought Portland
01:44was going to do something big with regards to Jalen Brown. That's not going to be the case. I just
01:48checked my watch.
01:49It's Dame time. That's pretty great. Devi became an all-star. I'm a big fan of what he brings to
01:55the table. You know, I'll be curious. There are some insiders who still think that Jalen Brown could be headed
02:03to Portland. They're not out of the woods on that yet.
02:07You know, I love Devi. I absolutely love what he brings to the table and I'm going to be fascinated
02:13to see how this all plays out. Could Drew Holiday be traded somewhere? You know, that certainly is a topic
02:21for conversation. You know, the Trail Blazers made the playoffs this past year.
02:26Needed some juice. Needed some pop. Needed some sizzle. The Jalen Brown situation is interesting and Chris Haynes gave me
02:35this nugget. It's worth watching Denver as a team. Denver could be the team that ends up being in the
02:44mix for Jalen Brown.
02:45I thought Portland made a ton of sense. I'm still not going to eliminate that, but I think the probability
02:50is much less than what it was 24 hours ago with the John Morant stunner.
02:56But, you know, Brown going to a team like Denver and a Jamal Murray trade, maybe this is a domino
03:02effect in how it relates to the Trail Blazers.
03:04Then you could see Drew Holiday traded to Denver. They would need a point guard. So that will be pretty
03:09interesting to see how this plays out.
03:12Look, for Memphis, it's Boozer's team. It's Boozer's show. Obviously, they had to move on. There were such high hopes
03:18for Jha.
03:19He was a bad guy and a bad teammate and prioritized nonsense and garbage. I hope it sticks for him
03:26in Portland.
03:27It's an interesting fit from a basketball perspective. They got a lot of guys in that backcourt.
03:32I mean, if you play Dame and you play Jha on the same backcourt, I mean, it's probably one of
03:37the shortest backcourts in the history of the NBA, right?
03:41I mean, that's just weird. And John needs the ball in his hands. And Dame needs the ball in his
03:46hands.
03:46And Debbie needs the ball in his hands. And Drew Holiday is a quintessential point guard.
03:51So, hell if I know. Also, not my problem.
03:55So, I think it makes sense for Portland because they needed a dude. They need to take a step forward.
04:02They certainly, I mean, you know, Jeremy Grant, Syracuse legend.
04:05You know, him and Murray, that's all they have to trade. So, it's kind of a no-brainer from that
04:09perspective.
04:10But I get it. I like it. I hope it clicks on and off the court for Jha.
04:15Color me a little skeptical in terms of matching up the positions as we sit right now when you look
04:21at the Trailblazers roster.
04:22The Knicks were in the news yesterday with a transaction of their own.
04:29Oh, baby. Lance Shammott's Instagram was on fire after he signed the four-year, $24 million deal to return to
04:37the Knicks.
04:37And listen, this comes a couple days after our guy, Jose Alvarado, agreed to terms on a three-year deal
04:43worth about $14 million.
04:46And I'm not surprised that Shammott's came back. I think he could have gotten more on the open market.
04:52Miami was rumored to be that team that can be interested in Landry Shammott.
04:56They need championship experience. They need to fill out a backcord.
05:00The back page of the New York Post, bravo.
05:04I mean, wham, bam, thank you, Shammott.
05:07And there's a dollar sign for the yes. Yes. Yes. Absolutely, positively perfect.
05:13And, look, the Knicks should run it back.
05:16I think in a lot of ways, the Knicks are going to be better when you take a look at
05:20it in the regular season.
05:21And Shammott was absolutely tough, clutch in the playoffs, especially the first three rounds,
05:27especially in the Philly and most especially in the Cleveland series.
05:31Landry Shammott is a Mike Brown favorite.
05:34You know, fights through screens, plays defense.
05:37He's not one of those guys where if he doesn't play in a game where he loses confidence or rhythm,
05:42he's a great teammate, great guy.
05:44I'm obsessed with all the clips we're seeing with him and John Turturro
05:48and the Young Man in the Three podcast.
05:49It's just absolutely awesome.
05:51I can't get enough.
05:53So I'm thrilled that Shammott is coming back.
05:55And I'm going to be curious to see what happens here with Mitchell Robinson.
05:58We said Alvarado would come back.
06:00We said Shammott would come back.
06:01And again, Steph Bondi reported that it's unlikely that Mitchell Robinson comes back.
06:06I just want to stress this with regards to Mitch, okay?
06:12I love Mitchell Robinson.
06:14Mitchell Robinson is not a starting center.
06:18He's just not.
06:19And the more minutes he plays, he's just, you don't want him being a 25-plus guy in terms of
06:26minutes.
06:26You want him in that 10 to 25 range.
06:29Bad offensive player, off injured, but he's an energizer bunny.
06:33And I love him, and I'm completely obsessed.
06:36I can't get enough.
06:38So I would love to see Robinson back.
06:40I think for him, you take less money.
06:43You stay with the Knicks your entire career.
06:46You have a six-figure job for life as, you know, John Starks or as Larry Johnson or Bernard King.
06:54You're one of those guys on the, you know, the courtside seats.
06:57And, you know, you're shaking people's hands, and you're cheering everyone on.
07:01Once a Knick, always a Knick, Celebrity Row.
07:03Like, that's how I would advise Mitchell Robinson.
07:06Sign a longer-term deal for less money.
07:10Get under the second apron.
07:11That's what I want to see.
07:13But, man, as someone who just can't stop smiling, with regards to the championship,
07:19and I'm watching every single Instagram reel and all the celebrations,
07:22having Landry Schammett back in the fold, I pumped my fists, I screamed out loud, it made my day.
07:31Run it back, baby!
07:33Go New York, go New York, go.
