Anna Azallion spoke with Dr. Elizabeth Hale of The Skin Cancer Foundation about the areas of your skin where sunscreen should be applied.
Transcript
00:00You're probably forgetting sunscreen in some of the places that matter most.
00:02People usually remember their face, arms, legs, but Dr. Elizabeth Hale with the Skin Cancer Foundation
00:07says people constantly forget the backs of their hands and even the tops of their feet.
00:11So when we apply to the face, make sure that you apply back to the sides of your face,
00:16including the ears, the sides and the back of the neck.
00:19She says it's best to apply at home before you get dressed, then reapply while you're out in the sun
00:23later.
00:23But what about UPF clothes?
00:25I am a huge fan of sun protective clothing.
00:28Do you need to put sunscreen on under that clothing or is that protection enough?
00:32I think that applying a base layer with a great broad spectrum sunscreen,
00:38ideally a lotion, is a great idea first thing in the morning.
00:41But it means less need to reapply later.
00:43So remember, before you head outside tomorrow,
00:45think of the places you usually ignore when it comes to sunscreen.
