Emergency services on the scene of a crash involving six trucks that closed the Hume Highway in both directions southwest of Goulburn on Tuesday, June 30.
Transcript
00:00Good morning, my name is Ian Pollard. I'm Acting Inspector for the Southern Spokes Tablelands Command.
00:06This morning at approximately 5am, New South Wales Ambulance received a call for a multi-vehicle accident at Redalbin on
00:15the Hume Highway.
00:17On the arrival of New South Wales Ambulance resources on scene, they were met with quite a fiery scene.
00:22However, with liaising with other emergency services, we were quickly able to establish that there were 6 trucks that were
00:32well alight and involved in the incident and we had 6 patients.
00:36New South Wales Ambulance paramedics assessed 6 patients and fortunately none of them actually sustained any injuries, nor did they
00:44require transport to hospital from New South Wales Ambulance.
00:47Those 6 patients are extremely lucky to walk out of that crash.
00:52I'm trying to put that fire out using a little bit of foam, so that's having some impact but we
00:58just need to get in there and pull it apart to extinguish it finally.
01:01But the other contents of the other trucks, there was some dog food on one truck, there was some rice,
01:07which the rice is burning quite nicely actually, so we're dealing with that as well.
01:12The fennel resin as such, we've just done an assessment and it appears that it hasn't breached the tanks, so
01:19that will be a good outcome.
01:20But until firefighters can get in there and extinguish that, and then we can get in there and carry out
01:24further investigation and further testing.
01:26And was it, there was butane in alcohol on the two other trucks?
01:30Yeah, so there was a bulk tanker of 38,000 litres of mixed alcohol, being lemon, lime and bitters drink,
01:37and we also had butane cylinders, and there was 8 tonne of butane cylinders, which most of them have exploded
01:47because of the fire, so that's not a hazard for us at the moment.
01:51And then, that's not cool as the water, we got the water, where we got the air.
01:53I got to the water so we got to the meat and the water from one truck.
01:56All right, you can see that the water from the car is a little bit.
01:56So, if you don't know what to do because we can do it without letting the water from the water.
