00:00Ah, yes, we are a step closer to LeBron and Steph teaming up with the Warriors.
00:08Wow.
00:09And the Red Sox break out the brooms to sweep away and embarrass the Yankees.
00:15Shine Time starts right now.
00:30Are we about to see LeBron James and Steph Curry team up for a sequel to what we saw in
00:37the Paris Olympics?
00:38My goodness.
00:40All of a sudden, there are reports.
00:43There are signs.
00:45Look at our guy K.O.C.
00:47Last night, Yahoo's Kevin O'Connor reported that Golden State is in pursuit of both LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
00:56They can get a D, according to Kevin O'Connor from Yahoo Sports, from Washington in a trade.
01:03And that could be, would be, the key to convincing LeBron to go north to the Bay and form a
01:11Big Four with Curry and Draymond Green.
01:15And then you have this today.
01:18This tweet from our guy, the insider of all insiders, Shams Sharania of ESPN.
01:26And every single word in this tweet to me matters.
01:31Shams writing,
01:32Warriors forward Draymond Green declining his $27.7 million player option to become a free agent in the interest of
01:46allowing Golden State the flexibility to pursue James and Davis.
01:55Wow.
01:57Wow.
01:58And, listen, when K.O.C. wrote it and the way he reported it, if you read it and I
02:05did on Yahoo Sports, it felt real.
02:07If you didn't believe it, when Shams drops that Shams bomb this morning, man, here's what it means.
02:15The Golden State Warriors are officially a destination for LeBron James.
02:19I was prepared after reading K.O.C. on Yahoo Sports, I was prepared today on Shine Time to say,
02:27okay, if I'm going to raid the field, right, give you a percentage on whether or not I think it's
02:34realistic that LeBron James and Anthony Davis could go to the Golden State Warriors, I would have said 50%, which
02:41to me is a massive number.
02:43Because he's been in Los Angeles for a while now, his son is on the team, his business ventures are
02:50in L.A.
02:51They just re-signed Austin Reeves.
02:53They have a great relationship.
02:55But then you start thinking about, okay, the Lakers, according to multiple reports, California Post has been all over this.
03:01The Lakers have not offered LeBron a new contract.
03:06So, with free agency, the new league year starting Tuesday, 6 p.m. Eastern time, that counts as something.
03:15The fact that they, and again, it just takes one simple offer from L.A., from the Lakers, and we
03:21never had this conversation.
03:23But when someone is credible, as Kevin O'Connor reports this, that's a big deal.
03:29Then you listen, and I did last night, to Bill Simmons' podcast, and he thinks there's a realistic chance LeBron
03:36leaves, and the Warriors are very much in play.
03:39Okay, that's great copy, that's great conversation, O'Connor, Simmons.
03:43And when Shams puts the Draymond piece into action, I increase this to 60%.
03:53We are now operating on the blanket of assumption.
03:57And there are other teams and things and scenarios that could be in the mix here, and we'll get to
04:02some flies in the ointment.
04:03But for the next day or two on Shine Time, we are going to operate under the blanket of assumption
04:09that the Golden State Warriors are the favorites when it comes to the services of LeBron James.
04:18Now, the Anthony Davis piece, to me, is the fly in the ointment.
04:23And it's not that Davis wouldn't want to go to Golden State.
04:27It's if I'm Washington, what's in it for me?
04:31You just got A.J. DeBonsa, you have Sarr, you have a good young core, you have Trey Young, you
04:37have Anthony Davis.
04:38Like, I don't think my mentions are going to be blown up on social or on the YouTube comments for
04:44today's show if I say that if they keep that together in Washington, that's a playoff team.
04:51Like, I don't think that's a hunt take.
04:54I'm not wearing oven mitts.
04:55Washington should be able—we said this last week after they drafted DeBonsa.
04:59After Trey Young, that deal was done.
05:02I think Washington can make the playoffs.
05:04Now, if Anthony Davis wants to be a pain in the ass, ask the New Orleans Pelicans about that,
05:10he can obviously control where he goes and control his destination and control the narrative.
05:17We could also see Washington make a sweetheart deal with a team like Golden State
05:23and get some young players that they think could ultimately help them.
05:28Maybe they can control that situation.
05:31So, it's the Davis piece to me, because he's tied to Washington, that's the one yeah but in all this.
05:40The other thing that I think needs to be stressed, are the Lakers awake?
05:45Are the Lakers paying attention?
05:47See, I go back to the month of March, right?
05:50We were ahead of the curve here on Shine Time, where I said there are four teams I could see
05:55winning a championship in no order.
05:57The Thunder, the Spurs, the Lakers, and the Knicks.
06:00And obviously, we were light years ahead of the curve.
06:03Other, you know, talking heads saying, it's going to be Minnesota, it's going to be Boston, it's going to be
06:08Cleveland, it's going to be Detroit.
06:09We nailed the teams.
06:11We absolutely nailed it.
06:13The Lakers, when you had Reeves and Donchish and James playing together, were 15-2 in the month of March.
06:18And then, obviously, Donchish gets hurt.
06:21Austin Reeves gets hurt.
06:22That ill-fated Thursday night in OKC.
06:25And the rest is history.
06:26Now, they bring back Reeves last week.
06:28They draft Carr, and that was an amazing job by Rob Palenka.
06:32I think the Baylor kid is going to be terrific for the Lakers.
06:36But they don't have an offer for LeBron?
06:38What's the endgame?
06:39DeAndre Ayton opted in, not what the Lakers wanted, I'm sure.
06:43They're going to have to look into moving him.
06:45I'll be curious to see if Mitchell Robinson is an option as a backup center for the Lakers.
06:51Mitchell Robinson, love him.
06:52He's not a starting center in any way, shape, or form.
06:55But I do think that this is what LeBron is looking at here in terms of potential roster with the
07:02Warriors versus the Lakers.
07:03Here's the other thing when it comes to LeBron and the Golden State Warriors.
07:07Obviously, Steph and LeBron together would be the Monstars.
07:12I know that they are obviously not at the right stage in their careers.
07:18They're both getting to the back nine.
07:19This could be, in theory, LeBron's final year in his majestic, legendary career.
07:25But if you can get this reenactment from Team USA together, we talked about this with regards to the Warriors
07:33last week.
07:34The Warriors are never going to rebuild.
07:36They shouldn't rebuild.
07:37They have Steph Curry.
07:38They sell out the Chase Center all the time.
07:40I don't think that, frankly, the Warriors, as we speak today, without the full roster, you know, they didn't make
07:47the playoffs last year.
07:47I don't think they're a playoff team this year.
07:49But they are a traveling must-see band.
07:52Steph Curry's an icon, a legend.
07:54Can't take your eyes off him.
07:56Steve Kerr, to me, is one of the five best coaches in the history of the NBA.
08:00If you put LeBron on the Warriors with Anthony Davis and Draymond Green, and they just crushed the draft,
08:07I think this would be, I mean, I love Yaxl.
08:10I think he's terrific.
08:11Kerr would be absolutely the right guy to take all these personalities and have him blend.
08:17This would not be an example where LeBron would get dinged.
08:21Oh, he's ring-chasing.
08:23LeBron is, you know, 42 years old.
08:26LeBron James can do whatever he wants, in my opinion, right now at this stage of his career,
08:31and he should be celebrated.
08:33Look, there were some reports this weekend.
08:35LeBron in Miami could be a fit.
08:38Take his talents back to South Beach.
08:40LeBron in Cleveland could be a fit.
08:43Bill Simmons was talking on his incredible podcast about the Spurs being a fit.
08:49This would not be an example here, going to the Warriors of ring-chasing in any way, shape, or form,
08:54because Golden State, they obviously have the history and tradition over the last decade-plus
08:59of winning four championships, and Steph is an all-timer, but nobody would be at their prime.
09:05But honestly, for our purposes on Shine Time, if we had this team together, it would be a topic of
09:11conversation every single day.
09:13I mean, it would be must-see TV, Amazon, and ESPN, and all the different partners, NBC, Peacock, everyone would
09:21be tripping all over themselves
09:22to try to get this Warrior team with LeBron on their specific networks every single day.
09:29So, all of a sudden, this feels real.
09:34Now, the Lakers need to make sure this doesn't happen, and I can't stress this enough.
09:39The L.A. Lakers, I mean, I don't see a plan B.
09:42Is it just they're done with LeBron?
09:43They don't want James on the team?
09:45I can't imagine that would go over well with Reeves.
09:49I can't imagine that would go over well with J.J. Redick, who loves LeBron.
09:54They obviously were podcast partners a lifetime ago.
09:58I mean, it just wouldn't make any sense to me.
10:01So, if I'm the Lakers, I'm doing everything in my power to make sure this doesn't happen.
10:06But all of a sudden now, we're operating under the blanket of assumption that LeBron James
10:13and Steph Curry could play together realistically.
10:16League year starts 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
10:19Buckle up, Buttercup.
10:21Let the games begin.
10:22This goes beyond a rumor mill conversation.
10:27When Shams tweets that Draymond Green is opting out, and that was a huge component
10:33to obviously finding a way to get these guys together salary-wise, fit-wise,
10:39all of a sudden, we could be looking at Steph and LeBron playing together.
10:43They're not who they were based upon their age.
10:46But, man, I think that would be amazing for the NBA, for buzz, for history.
10:52And if James, who may be at this stage of his career, is looking at one thing and one thing
10:57only,
10:59Jordan.
10:59Because I'm one of those guys where, and I mean this as a compliment,
11:04it's Michael Jordan number one, draw a line, LeBron James number two, draw a line.
11:08Like, I don't even think there's a discussion.
11:10If LeBron James ever was able to take this version of the Golden State Warriors and find
11:16a way to get them deep into the playoffs and or win a championship, that might shift the
11:24conversation and or narrow the gap.
11:27So, I can't get enough of this.
11:30This doesn't feel like your fantasy league anymore.
11:32This feels real, where you have a lot of reports, a lot of credible journalists,
11:37in terms of the Golden State Warriors and Curry and Kerr and Draymond and AD and LeBron,
11:44all teaming up together.
11:46Buckle up, Buttercup.
11:47Meanwhile, back in Steph Curry's hometown of Charlotte, the Hornets have now made a second
11:52big trade in less than a week.
11:54How about what transpired with Miles Bridges as they trade Bridges and a 20-29 first round
12:02pick to the Suns, along with a 20-27 second rounder for Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neal, and
12:09a 20-33 first.
12:11This comes days after they sent LaMelo Ball packing to Minnesota, and now the rumor mill
12:17is focused on a possible pursuit of Celtic star Jalen Brown.
12:22A couple of important things here.
12:24Number one, I love this for Charlotte.
12:27I genuinely do.
12:28I think that when you are an NBA team, you're either in a five-on-five sport, where you're
12:35supposed to be, you feel internally like you can get there, or you know you can't.
12:40And as fun as Charlotte was down the stretch of last year, they were not a playoff team.
12:45So they needed to make some changes.
12:48Now, you look at this right here, in terms of additions and subtractions, all the buzz
12:54with the Hornets.
12:55And I've always argued Charlotte is a great basketball city.
12:59Obviously, you think about all the college basketball in North Carolina.
13:02You know, the Hornets before they became the Pelicans back in the day with Larry Johnson,
13:07Alonzo Mourning.
13:08That is a great NBA market.
13:11The league ownership ruined it forever.
13:13Look, I love the ball deal for Minnesota.
13:16I really think Reed is going to help this basketball team.
13:20I think Grayson Allen, he will certainly sell tickets, former Duke star.
13:23That's going to help.
13:25Miller is terrific.
13:27Khan Knipple is terrific.
13:29And if you could somehow find a way to get Jalen Brown, this Hornets team would be ready
13:35to rock and roll now.
13:37Because when you add those kind of pieces and components, and you added O'Neal, you added
13:42like Grayson Allen, if you could then trade other players and or the first round picks
13:48that you have accumulated, and you ship them to Boston, man, I think that would be absolutely
13:53terrific.
13:54We're at a stage right now when it comes to the Jalen Brown sweepstakes.
13:59First of all, you know that ever since they lost to Philadelphia and he went on Twitch,
14:05I have been of the opinion that Jalen Brown would be gone, right?
14:09Now, you look at these first round picks, certainly without question, the Charlotte Hornets have
14:16a bevy of picks that they will be able to deal to land Jalen Brown.
14:21Let's be crystal clear about that.
14:23So I expect Jalen Brown is going to get traded.
14:26I think there are three teams that you look at.
14:29Number one, the Hornets.
14:30Number two, and this is frankly, I think the leader in the clubhouse, Portland.
14:34I think Portland would make a lot of sense here.
14:37You know, we could talk about Sharp, talk about Klingon.
14:39They've got a couple of first round picks.
14:42I also think with James Harden opting out of his contract and they can try and soften
14:47the number on a multi-year deal in Cleveland, maybe that re-energizes a potential rumored
14:54swap with Evan Mobley going to Boston in exchange for Jalen Brown.
14:59Boston has to move Brown.
15:01Let's be crystal clear.
15:02The genies out of the bottle, toothpaste out of the tube.
15:05Any cliche you want to use, there's no turning back here when it comes to ultimately at the
15:10end of the day, you know, Jalen Brown being back in Boston.
15:13Even when they won a championship, it was not the right fit in terms of Brown always felt
15:20like at the end of the day, he wasn't respected by the fans and they like Tatum, whatever it
15:25was.
15:25They won a championship with him.
15:27If I'm Brad Stevens, if I'm Joe Mazzulla, you trust yourselves.
15:30Even if you don't win, quote unquote, the trade or the trade machine doesn't give you a check
15:34in your box in terms of this team or that team as the trade winner, you're doing it because
15:40you have to.
15:41Once you put Brown in the Giannis deal, he was gone.
15:45And apparently Brown is acting like he's done in Boston because he's done in Boston.
15:49We have not wavered or waffled on this on Shine Time.
15:52And I expect that you will see Jalen Brown traded by the Boston Celtics this week.
15:58And I believe right now, and listen, I would love there's a mystery team or something fluid
16:03or something we don't know.
16:04I would say that Charlotte, Portland, Cleveland, those are the three teams I think make the
16:11most sense and or the most realistic.
16:13I think Portland would be right now at the top of the list.
16:17Did you guys hear that my Knicks are the champions of the world?
16:20Kevin Durant's heard about it.
16:22I would tell him to strike while the iron's hot.
16:24I mean, this is a time that I don't think New Yorkers or the Knicks can, you know,
16:30we're going to get back, you know, so I think you should.
16:33Nah, it's probably true.
16:36It's probably true.
16:37I mean, you got to take advantage of this time right now.
16:39You don't know if this will come around.
16:41Yeah.
16:42It's been 53 years, so.
16:43I mean, it could be a 56.
16:45It could be another 53-year wait.
16:48Every time Kevin Durant speaks, I want to just scream.
16:53I want to yell.
16:54And I love Kevin Durant.
16:56I defend Kevin Durant.
16:57I defend Kevin Durant from going to OKC.
16:59And going to Golden State.
17:01You know what Kevin Durant is?
17:02He's a two-time champion because he's won two championships.
17:06He won the finals MVP a couple of times.
17:08He's an all-time great.
17:09He's also an all-time antagonist.
17:12And I don't even understand what he's doing.
17:15I get it.
17:16He decided to sign with the irrelevant Brooklyn Nets and not the Knicks.
17:19And he wants to throw all sorts of shade.
17:22Listen, he realized he was playing to the crowd, right?
17:27You know, the question was asked about Jalen Brunson and advertising and marketing and taking
17:33advantage of being a champion.
17:36And his whole point was, you know, take advantage of it now.
17:39You don't know when that's going to happen again.
17:42And then the crowd started getting into it.
17:43And his wheels started turning.
17:45KD, pipe down.
17:47I mean, Kevin Durant right now is in no man's land in the NBA.
17:51And unless he's traded to Detroit, he's not sniffing the Larry O'Brien trophy anytime soon.
17:57So let's be crystal clear about that.
18:00So Kevin Durant loves throwing shade at the Knicks.
18:03Having said that, if I'm a Knicks fan, nothing can rattle us at this stage.
18:09It doesn't matter.
18:11Maybe in the past, if we hadn't won, I'd be angry at Kevin Durant.
18:14I'm not angry.
18:16Tears of a clown right there.
18:18You signed with the Nets.
18:20You've been irrelevant ever since.
18:23And the Knicks, listen, Jose Alvarado after Friday's show, three years, 15 mil.
18:29Let's go.
18:30You know, Mitchell Robinson, I really hope, and I know it's not likely, and Steph Bondi
18:36has been reporting this, and Steph's the best, of course, covers the Knicks for the Post.
18:39Unlikely Mitchell Robinson comes back.
18:41If I could advise Mitchell Robinson of one thing, take less money and re-sign with the
18:48Knicks.
18:48Mitchell Robinson is not a starting center.
18:51I know that.
18:52You know that.
18:53Knicks fans know that.
18:54I fear that some of these teams, because they can, in their mind, sell it.
18:59It's world champion Mitchell Robinson.
19:01They can get him while he's hot, fresh off of winning the Larry O'Brien trophy.
19:05No, I, Mitchell Robinson is a phenomenal backup center.
19:10That's who he is, okay?
19:12I hope he comes back to give the Knicks a better shot to run it back.
19:16I saw a report, Jake Fisher had it, that Landry Schammett could be in the mix to be, you know,
19:21one of the wingmen for Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Miami Heat.
19:25I can see that.
19:26I can see Pat Riley being interested in bringing in Landry Schammett.
19:31You know, I think Schammett really wants to stay in New York.
19:35We'll have to see what the financial number is, what's, you know, the Heats offer him,
19:39what the Knicks offer him, what anyone else offers him.
19:42But here's the thing when it comes to Durant and it comes to the second apron.
19:46And, you know, you saw Isaiah Joe just get traded from OKC to Detroit.
19:51And, you know, they OKC have to make another deal and Wallace gets shipped to the Atlanta Hawks
19:56and a really good deal for Atlanta.
19:58No question about that.
20:00And Hartenstein gets his new contract, right?
20:03You know, the second apron is just, I know why it's there to prevent dynasties and, you know,
20:09hosting a national sports radio show for a living for over two decades.
20:15I know fans got sick and tired of the Warriors.
20:17I know they got sick and tired of LeBron in the finals every single year.
20:22I get that.
20:24But I think at this stage, when it comes to the second apron, you don't even have the desired result,
20:30right?
20:31I mean, OKC having to, and OKC's still loaded, by the way.
20:34Let's be crystal clear about that.
20:36You know, OKC, obviously, they have, they just cleaned up in the draft.
20:40And, you know, they still have, to me, the best roster in the NBA.
20:43You know, last nine years, nine different champs.
20:47And that's what the league wanted.
20:48But that second apron, owners don't like it.
20:51GMs don't like it.
20:52Players don't like it.
20:52Agents don't like it.
20:54And that sucks.
20:55Now, when Durant says it could be another 53 years, maybe.
21:01But also, maybe not.
21:03And I think whenever the Knicks stop partying and celebrating, and here's hoping that's half past never,
21:11I think the Knicks are going to absolutely be in contention to run it back.
21:17I think if you want to rank the teams going into the start of the offseason tomorrow,
21:23I would put the Knicks third on the list in terms of most talented teams.
21:28Or if you look at Vegas and the odds, you have OKC number one, San Antonio number two,
21:34Knicks right now number three.
21:35I'm good with that.
21:36Like, Dad, that's not shade.
21:38And I would say right now, we'll see what Detroit does.
21:41I like their Isaiah Joe deal.
21:43We'll see if Cleveland does anything.
21:45Atlanta is off to a terrific start with Flemings and, you know, our friend Zuby from St. John's,
21:51Zuby Edgefour, and obviously that aforementioned deal with OKC, getting walls.
21:55That was terrific.
21:56I think the Knicks are absolutely going to be the favorite.
21:59And there's a lot of reasons to believe they'll be better in the regular season
22:03now having the experience of having won a championship.
22:07So, at the end of the day, I just, it's a weird thing from Kevin Durant.
22:12And I know he's catering to the crowd.
22:14I just wish for himself, you know, Kevin Durant is a legend.
22:19And if Kevin Durant, you know, didn't wear that extra long shoe with the Brooklyn Nets in that game seven,
22:25second round against Milwaukee, the game tying two would have been a game-winning three.
22:29They would have advanced to the next round.
22:30Who the hell knows?
22:31That could have changed history for Giannis and for everybody involved.
22:35People forget about that.
22:36That was a big deal in the second round of the year the Bucs ended up winning a championship.
22:40I'll tell you, though, every time Durant speaks, every time he goes to social media,
22:46every time he has a new burner account, it just, it breaks my heart because I love Kevin Durant.
22:51I always defend him as a player.
22:54You know, Durant saying that, you know, the Warriors were an underdog.
22:57He said that a few weeks ago, going from OKC to Golden State.
23:00They were a 73-win team, KD.
23:03What are we doing here?
23:04I just wish he would sometimes just get a grip and get a clue.
23:09He has so much to offer as an NBA player, so much to offer as, you know, a wise veteran
23:16now in the NBA,
23:18Team USA icon.
23:19He's been around the block.
23:20He's a big sports fan, big football fan, big NFL fan.
23:25Just stop with the garbage and the nonsense and the slander.
23:28Also, could be next year when the Knicks win another championship.
23:33My New York Yankees are now 3-7 in their last 10 games after going up to Boston this weekend
23:39and getting swept in a four-game series in New England's living room.
23:44Aaron Boone does not seem concerned.
23:46How do you make sure, like you said, a tough weekend like this doesn't snowball into anything?
23:51That's what we do, baby.
23:52You gotta love this stuff.
23:54You gotta eat this stuff up.
23:56It's a sickness, and you gotta just, that's what the grind is.
24:00We got a really good frickin' team.
24:02You know, we played crappy on this trip, kinda.
24:05Feels bad.
24:07Kinda pissed off, right?
24:09But it's what we do.
24:10It's what you sign up for.
24:12We'll dig ourselves out of it and get it going here in short order.
24:16But we just, you know, bottom line is we didn't play well this weekend, and we gotta do better.
24:21It's what you sign up for?
24:24It's what you sign up for, Aaron Boone?
24:27Losing to this awful, pathetic, embarrassing Boston Red Sox team?
24:32A Red Sox team that has just been a disaster all season long?
24:37Brooms Day, absolutely.
24:38I mean, this was an embarrassment last night.
24:43I mean, Sonny Gray, former Yankee, and I loved when Brian Cashman made that trade, because
24:50I love Sonny Gray.
24:51I'm a huge Sonny Gray fan.
24:53Loved him with the A's.
24:55I loved when the Yankees got him.
24:57Didn't pitch well with the Yankees.
24:58Then I love Sonny Gray when, ultimately, he goes to Cincinnati, and he goes to Minnesota,
25:04and he goes to St. Louis.
25:05He signs with the Red Sox, and Sonny Gray admits, I lied.
25:10My agent lied.
25:11Said I'd be happy in New York.
25:12He basically said, I hate Boone.
25:15I hate Cashman.
25:17I hate New York.
25:18I hate the Bronx.
25:19I hate Stans.
25:20I hate Derek Jeter.
25:21I hate Mickey Mantle.
25:22I hate Babe Ruth.
25:24I'm paraphrasing here.
25:25What he said when he signed with Boston.
25:27That's basically what he said.
25:28And then I'm watching Sonny Gray last night, finally, when NBC got around to putting the
25:34game on, as opposed to the fact that it was on Peacock, because they were airing golf.
25:38Thank goodness, my girls like Love Island, so I knew my Peacock password.
25:43But I digress.
25:44So here I am, and I'm sitting there watching after finally flipping around, finding the
25:51game, and I'm watching Sonny Gray stick it to the Yankees.
25:57He's throwing a no-hitter into the eighth.
25:59But of course, these are the Red Sox, and this is the worst version of the Red Sox, most
26:04embarrassing version of the Red Sox, that Red Sox fans have seen in 50 years.
26:09The expectations were high, and they brought in, you know, all these pitchers in the offseason,
26:14and a lot of people, myself included, thought they'd make the playoffs, they fire Cora, which
26:19was asinine and idiotic, John Henry, the owner, is clueless, Sam Kennedy, the team president,
26:25and Craig Breslow, the overmatch general manager, they're like bobbleheads.
26:28They have no power, no say.
26:29They don't know what the hell they're doing.
26:32Devers, Bregman, all of it.
26:34Hot garbage.
26:35Red Sox have been atrocious and awful and irrelevant.
26:38And this is the team that beats the Yankees?
26:43If the Yankees went into Boston and split, I would be livid.
26:48I'd be livid.
26:49They got swept.
26:51And last night, you saw Braves throw in the ninth.
26:54I mean, if someone, an outfielder in elementary school, my son Theo's Little League team,
27:00missed every single cutoff man, and then everyone in the infield was just lollygagging,
27:05and walking around with no urgency, I'd be annoyed at the kids on the Little League team.
27:10I mean, the Red Sox, who are terrible, trying to give the Yankees that game.
27:15They couldn't even take it.
27:16I love Bednar.
27:17Bednar has been phenomenal.
27:19He's been on a heater.
27:20They have to take him out.
27:21Cruz comes in, game over.
27:24I mean, go back through the chronological order here, right?
27:28Go back to Thursday, where you see Schlittler on the bump,
27:31and the Yankees couldn't catch the ball.
27:34His ERA dropped, and they couldn't win.
27:38They couldn't hit.
27:39They couldn't have any kind of juice or sizzle or effort or energy or fundies
27:45or just catch the damn baseball.
27:48They got rocked on Friday night.
27:50Saturday, bad weather in New York.
27:52I sat my ass on the couch.
27:54It's like old school 1 o'clock Yankees, Red Sox.
27:57All these games are always in prime time.
27:58It's on ABC.
28:00I mean, I felt like I was, you know, growing up back in the day.
28:031 o'clock, Garrett Cole is giving up homers.
28:06That game was over before I even got comfortable.
28:09And I know that, you know, I use strikeout-to-walk ratio often in describing how a pitcher pitches.
28:16Cole was terrible.
28:17But it's not his fault necessarily.
28:19It's the offense.
28:20And here you got Aaron Boone talking about, oh, you know, it's okay.
28:24We're going to be fine.
28:25Look, this is the first time I've been angry as a sports fan since the next one, right?
28:30This is the first time I've been angry.
28:31There is a perspective, and that perspective is the American League sticks.
28:35American League sticks.
28:36As of Monday morning, there are only four teams in the entire league that are above .500.
28:42Think about that for a second.
28:43One of them is a White Sox.
28:44That's all you need to know about how bad the American League is.
28:48We showed you the standings.
28:49Yankees on Thursday entered the series as a first-place team with the best record in the American League.
28:53They're now a wild-card team.
28:56If the season ended today, and we had our producer Griff call Rob Manfred of Major League Baseball, it doesn't.
29:02But if the season ended today, the Yankees are going on the road in the playoffs.
29:08They're a wild-card team.
29:09They don't have home-field advantage anymore.
29:12A mess.
29:13A complete and utter mess.
29:14And this goes back to the lack of oomph, right?
29:19The lack of urgency.
29:21The lack of focus.
29:23Boone is to blame.
29:24The Yankees need four new relief pitchers.
29:27Let's be crystal clear about that.
29:29And where is the Yankees' ability to steal the Red Sox' soul?
29:35Think about it.
29:36There was not one Red Sox fan who, going into this series, like, yeah, Yankees, Red Sox, really pumped up
29:43for the best rivalry in baseball.
29:45We barely made it a deal on Shine Time last week.
29:48Because the Red Sox are awful.
29:50I mean, the Mets fans were laughing at the Red Sox.
29:54We're on record calling the Red Sox the biggest embarrassment in all of baseball.
29:58And they sweep?
30:00They take the broom and they not only sweep away the Yankees, they stick it up their derrieres?
30:04What, are you kidding me?
30:05That's a disgrace.
30:07It's a gutless, puke, pathetic performance.
30:11There are basically, right now, three batters in that lineup.
30:16Because this is not about, well, Judge isn't there.
30:18No, no.
30:19You should be able to take a series against the worst Red Sox team that we've seen in the last
30:2440 years.
30:25And I don't want to hear that Judge isn't there.
30:28Ben Rice, great.
30:30Ballinger, great.
30:3252-year-old Goldschmidt has had a really strong season.
30:35Other than that, if you're a Yankees fan, who do you want in the batter's box?
30:41There's not one player on this team that you want, and I like Jazz.
30:44He's been terrible.
30:46Austin Wells isn't hitting his weight.
30:48Austin Wells isn't hitting my weight.
30:50That's a problem.
30:52If I have to look at Anthony Volpe's face one more time, I'm going to absolutely lose it.
30:56Some series are just worse than the others.
30:59And here's the thing, and we're going to be careful, right?
31:02I'm not declaring the season over because the AL sucks.
31:07The Yankees are still alive.
31:10The Yankees in Vegas, if you look today on DraftKings, they're the overwhelming favorites to win the American League.
31:18But this is bad.
31:20Three runs on Thursday, one run on Friday, one run on Saturday, and they just got—forget the final score because
31:27that distracts and those runs were not earned in the ninth.
31:30I mean, they're getting no hit by Sonny Gray into the eighth inning.
31:35Sonny Gray, who basically told you that he hates Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada, and he thinks Roger Maris is
31:45an overrated clown.
31:46That's what he said when he signed with the Red Sox.
31:49Come on.
31:49He hates Joe DiMaggio.
31:51I mean, it's—he hates New York pizza, and that's the guy who's sticking it to you last night.
31:58Brutal.
31:59Absolutely brutal.
32:00Despite all their encampments this weekend, the Yankees may still have gained a new fan.
32:06I want to be a Yankees fan.
32:08Why?
32:08Why can't you be a Mets fan?
32:10Because I don't want to be the worst.
32:13We're Mets fans in this house.
32:14Well, I don't want to be the worst team.
32:20So which team do you want to root for?
32:23Yankees.
32:26Yeah, I mean, that kid.
32:29David gets it.
32:31Seriously.
32:32And you know what?
32:34David Stearns needs to walk to that kid's house.
32:37Not get in the back seat of a car.
32:40Walk to his house and apologize for making kids all over the metropolitan area cry.
32:48Kids, adults, the elderly.
32:53That's one thing that all different Mets fans.
32:55Doesn't matter your age, your race, your religion, what you believe in.
33:00You're crying because of David Stearns.
33:03You broke the kid.
33:05The kid wants to root for the Yankees.
33:07What the hell is wrong with you?
33:09We went through this on Friday.
33:11You know, Carlos Mendoza fired.
33:13Sure, great.
33:13But it's David Stearns' fault.
33:15Who lets Pete Alonzo go?
33:17Who brings in Devin Williams?
33:19Who decides, well, we're going to take a non-first baseman and have him replace Alonzo at first base?
33:25The back end of the rotation's terrible.
33:27I mean, Bo Bichette, never played third base.
33:30Come on down.
33:31Overreaction to Kyle Tucker.
33:33And then at his press conference, that was an embarrassment.
33:37And I loved, loved the way John Heyman and Joel Sherman, Mike Puma, everyone from the Post just absolutely hammered
33:46Stearns.
33:47By the way, I don't get the sense he's worried about his job at all.
33:51Like, that's why that kid is crying.
33:54Because he watched the press conference.
33:56And that's why he's moved to tears.
33:58And he's thinking of rooting for the Yankees.
34:01Because Stearns has no answers.
34:04My goodness.
34:06I mean, that press conference was a mess.
34:09And then, there's this.
34:13Yeah.
34:14Mr. Met, understanding the moment.
34:17Understanding how tough this is.
34:19I don't even know how my guy, Steve Gelbs, was able to concentrate during this.
34:24Did you see our guy, Clem, from Barstool?
34:28He put together the bracket of Mets disasters.
34:34I mean, it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on the internet.
34:38Seriously.
34:39I mean, just one category as a four seed was Jason Bay.
34:44You didn't even have to explain it.
34:45I mean, you know, Kevin Mitchell cutting off a cat's head was like a seven seed.
34:51You know, the collapse in 2007.
34:54My personal favorite, which always, you know, over the last 20 years showed the Mets ineptitude.
34:59You know, they put Ryan Church when he was concussed on an airplane and flew him coast to coast and
35:04he never played again.
35:06We got Mr. Met dancing behind our guy, Steve Gelbs.
35:10Kyle Schwarber, by the way, 30 home runs.
35:12Phillies, to me, are the biggest challenger when it comes to the Dodgers in the National League.
35:16Congrats to the Dodgers, by the way.
35:18Winning the NL West.
35:19Stealing the soul from the Padres.
35:22They actually lost against their old friend Walker Buehler on Friday and then won Saturday, won Sunday.
35:26That is over, and the Dodgers have the best record in all of baseball.
35:30Phillies, Dodgers, that's my prediction.
35:32That was my prediction before the season.
35:34My prediction now when it comes to the NLCS, Braves have come back down to earth.
35:39Mets are a waste, a total waste.
35:41Kids are crying.
35:43I walked the streets today.
35:45I mean, people are just grown men and women just in tears.
35:49I said, what's wrong?
35:50I root for the Mets.
35:52I put my arm around you.
35:53I mean, it's like a comedy of errors.
35:55It's an embarrassment.
35:58And Schwarber, who, you know, let's be honest.
36:00I mean, he is just so much fun to watch.
36:03And the Mets, they're just gutless.
36:06They're lifeless.
36:07They were put together in such a pathetic way.
36:09And it's year two of the Juan Soto contract.
36:13Hey, Juan Soto, how you doing?
36:17And people thought, because I'm a Yankee fan, this was me throwing shade.
36:21I'm not throwing shade.
36:22I said before, Juan Soto signed, I can win a World Series here.
36:25As long as David Sertz is building the team.
36:27And I, last year, said the Mets will not make the playoffs.
36:30And they didn't.
36:31And this year, I thought they'd get in as the last wild card team.
36:34I had them third in the division before the season.
36:36Just comparatively to the rest of the teams in the National League.
36:41This is a mess.
36:42Year two of the Juan Soto contract.
36:44How's that going?
36:47Speaking of incompetence, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have fired their general manager.
36:57Perry Manassian, out.
37:0036-49.
37:02Third worst in the American League.
37:06John Moshelek is officially the interim general manager.
37:11So, I thought about this.
37:13And you see Perry's face right here.
37:20I think that Artie Moreno is the worst owner in all of sports.
37:26I really believe that.
37:28And Perry is clueless, and he deserved to be fired.
37:31But it's also simultaneously not his fault.
37:34So, here's a picture of Shohei Otani shaking Artie Moreno's hand.
37:40Artie Moreno was going to sell the team.
37:42And fans rejoiced.
37:45They were dancing in the street.
37:46And then I think he decided not to sell the team out of spite.
37:51Artie Moreno, I firmly believe, is the devil in disguise.
37:56You see oftentimes, California Post has all the videos.
37:59A lot of fans in Anaheim, they make news.
38:03They go viral for singing and dancing and chanting for Artie to sell the team.
38:09I really think, if Rob Manford is awake, and there are a lot of bad owners in baseball,
38:14the Rockies, terrible.
38:16John Fisher with the A's going from Oakland to Sacramento, eventually to Vegas.
38:21He's terrible.
38:22Pirates owner is terrible.
38:24Artie Moreno is the worst.
38:25And they have turned a Southern California market into a totally irrelevant wasteland.
38:32The Angels have the longest droughts of not making the playoffs in baseball right now.
38:3711 years.
38:39And frankly, it feels even longer than that.
38:42You look at the Angels, and a couple years ago, Perry wanted to trade Shohei Otani because
38:48he wasn't coming back to the baseball team.
38:50And Artie Moreno wouldn't let him, saying, well, we're going to re-sign him.
38:57On what planet did you think Shohei Otani wanted to be part of this mess?
39:01They had Shohei Otani and Mike Trout and couldn't make the playoffs.
39:05Shohei Otani and Mike Trout, and they couldn't make the playoffs.
39:11Moreno won't let his executives rebuild, won't let him develop a farm system.
39:17He's not only a bad guy, by all accounts, he's meddlesome.
39:21And I really think he hates the fans.
39:23Like, I think he genuinely wants to screw the fans and stick it to them.
39:28I feel bad for Mike Trout.
39:30I know he signed the contract.
39:31I know.
39:32He could have signed with the Philadelphia Phillies.
39:35He's from, obviously, South Jersey.
39:38That would have been great.
39:38He roots for the Eagles.
39:39Instead, he hitches his wagon to this guy, Artie Moreno, the absolute worst.
39:46Permanazzi, in five-plus years since 2021, was 392-500 as the general manager.
39:52One of four teams, okay, over the last five seasons in baseball that have not made the playoffs.
39:58Pirates, Rockies, Nationals, and, obviously, the Anaheim Angels.
40:04And here's the thing, if you understand Angels' history and tradition.
40:09The Angels have it.
40:10They genuinely do.
40:12The Angels, for so many years, in the 80s, the 90s, then finally they get over the hump, 2002.
40:19The late, great Garrett Anderson and Troy Gloss and those fun-to-watch teams.
40:24I mean, they get over the hump.
40:25They win the World Series.
40:27The fan base, unbelievable.
40:29The ambiance used to be great.
40:31The rally monkey.
40:33Everything about it.
40:35Celebrities would go to the games.
40:37They would have the stadium packed.
40:39Now, you don't have anyone in the ballpark unless you're openly rooting for the owner to sell the damn team.
40:49And they're right.
40:51The worst feeling as a sports fan is when you know your team's dead on arrival.
40:56And normally, in baseball, there are two levels, right?
41:00Haves and have-nots when it comes to what you can spend.
41:04The Angels are in a monster market.
41:07They're a have.
41:08They spend money.
41:09They have no idea how to spend money because Moreno says, yeah, get me Anthony Rendon.
41:16Remember him?
41:17He hates baseball.
41:18He comes from the Washington Nationals after they won the World Series, collected the money,
41:24and basically gave all the fans and Artie the proverbial middle finger.
41:28The double bird.
41:30That's how bad it was.
41:31I mean, think about all the nonsense and shenanigans and lawsuits and deaths
41:36and everything that has transpired with this pathetic organization.
41:40And it all stems from the top.
41:42I mean, firing the general manager, sure.
41:45But we're talking about an absolute disgrace of a baseball team.
41:50And now these fans have to watch Shohei Ohtani.
41:53He's going to win another MVP.
41:54Doing his thing right down the road.
41:58Brutal.
41:59Absolutely, positively brutal.
42:01To the NFL now, where things get weirder and weirder between Brandon Ayuk and the 49ers.
42:06Here is a portion of Ayuk's latest video post.
42:10General manager going to pull it to my house.
42:13A weirdo.
42:15Like, bro, don't pull it to my house, uninvited boy.
42:19Shit ain't safe.
42:20Little fuck.
42:22But I knew his ass was going to do it.
42:25So I'm looking at my camera, my front door camera.
42:28I see a big old white boy, white man.
42:33Former NFL safety.
42:36And I'm like, oh, hell no.
42:39And I know my wife is about to be back home soon.
42:42So I have to call my wife and say, it's a big ass white man at the house.
42:49I don't know what he doing over there.
42:51He was not invited.
42:53Shit creepy.
42:54So if you're on your way home, just probably just spin the block a few times.
42:58Because I don't know what, bro, on.
43:00It's weird.
43:06I don't think it's exaggeration to call Brandon Ayuk the single worst decision by the San Francisco 49ers.
43:16And they've had some crazy ones, including what transpired with that trade-up and Trey Lance and everything that went
43:23on there.
43:24I also don't think it's crazy to call this the worst contract extension in the history of the NFL.
43:29Four years, 120 mil.
43:3376 mil guaranteed.
43:35That was before the 2024 season.
43:37Since he signed the extension, he has as many touchdowns as I do.
43:44Zero.
43:46Didn't even play football last year.
43:49Brandon Ayuk is a sad, scary, loose cannon.
43:55The thing is, if you remember the chronological order when it comes to Brandon Ayuk,
44:00they gave him permission to take a trade.
44:02And Cleveland had major interest.
44:04New England had major interest.
44:06The Pittsburgh Steelers had major interest.
44:07And then everyone kind of backed off.
44:11And remember, Ayuk was in Shanahan's doghouse, benched, suspended, didn't start certain games
44:18because he was a knucklehead.
44:20He had, you know, issues in terms of showing up on time.
44:24And now this is all spiraled.
44:26So then to not trade him, and you knew at the time that he wasn't the right investment, wasn't worth
44:33it.
44:33And to give him that kind of money, then they had to take back the guarantees because he didn't show
44:40up.
44:40He wasn't there for injury rehab.
44:43And now you got Ayuk spending more time on YouTube and more time driving and making all sorts of rants
44:48and speeding and breaking the law.
44:52And this is the worst.
44:54This was all preventable.
44:55I wanted the Niners, this brass, to win a championship more than anything because I think they're so smart and
45:01they're so calculating, got so many things right.
45:03You know, the fact that they lost, you know, both those Super Bowls, they should have won both,
45:07especially the last one against Kansas City, which they lost in overtime.
45:10That just would have stamped this regime.
45:13Now I don't know how they recover.
45:15And this is not going to end well, and he's not going to play for San Francisco ever again,
45:19but I'm here to make this case today.
45:20And I know that Ayuk and Jaden Daniels played together in college.
45:25If you are the Washington Commanders, and you're listening to this rant as he describes Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch,
45:33if you're the Washington Commanders, I know Jaden Daniels and Brandon Ayuk played together in college.
45:39Why would you ever invite this nonsense into your building?
45:44Makes no sense.
45:47Don't do it.
45:48Do not invite this kind of chaos and drama.
45:52And I know Washington could use another wide receiver.
45:55This is not a wide receiver.
45:57This is a ticking time bomb.
45:59This is a problem.
46:00This is not someone you want to hand money to and trust.
46:05I get it.
46:06Daniels and Ayuk have a previous relationship.
46:09I don't care.
46:10I would rather play with 10 on the field than have Brandon Ayuk on my roster.
46:15The Niners clearly feel the same way.
46:17This was a disgrace and an embarrassment and the easiest first guess in the history of sports,
46:22and I destroyed San Francisco for giving Ayuk this contract.
46:26Sometimes in sports you feel like, okay, guy had a great year, got to give him a...
46:29This wasn't the case.
46:31They gave him permission to seek a deal.
46:33Cleveland, New England, Pittsburgh.
46:35What a mess.
46:36What an absolute mess.
46:38And finally today, the Buffalo Bills have officially announced that OJ Simpson will not be on display
46:48and honored in their brand new stadium in the team's Hall of Fame
46:53as they get ready to go into this great, gorgeous new ballpark.
46:59The team said in a statement,
47:02We have made an organizational decision that he is not a fit to display inside our new stadium and family
47:13circle.
47:16And I want you to understand the key word there, display, right?
47:21Because they're not kicking OJ out of the Hall of Fame.
47:26They're just not displaying it.
47:29Nor do I think that OJ should be kicked out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
47:34He earned it.
47:36What he did with the Buffalo Bills.
47:38He was a great running back in USC.
47:39But what really pisses me off is when I hear people say,
47:45Well, with OJ Simpson, this was a complicated legacy.
47:52Complicated legacy?
47:53He's a murderer.
47:54He killed two people.
47:56There's nothing complicated about this.
47:59He played football.
48:00He played football brilliantly.
48:02When you think of OJ Simpson, and if you're the Buffalo Bills and you have this new stadium,
48:06you start going over everyone who's been part of the organization and represents it the right way,
48:12you don't think of OJ as a football player.
48:15You think of this and why this happened.
48:19And you think of OJ getting off originally.
48:22Let's be crystal clear.
48:24And then what transpired?
48:26And the nonsense and the circus.
48:28This is not a complicated legacy.
48:31He murdered two people.
48:33That's it.
48:34There's no complications.
48:37Great job by the Buffalo Bills.
48:40That's the show.
