00:00:09All right, I'll go your seatbelt. This was gonna be the bet. If I won, I get to come over
00:00:17to your
00:00:17house with my bag of goodies. Inside my bag of goodies there are several different bundles of
00:00:25shibari rope. Shibari is a Japanese art of rope bondage. My bet was going to involve showing up
00:00:32in your place and completely tying you up and incapacitating you and then being able to do
00:00:36whatever I wanted to do in every single hole in your body until I was done with you.
00:00:45Trouble for Golden Globe nominee Armie Hammer. Known for his roles in the social network and
00:00:51call me by your name. Disturbing and racing messages allegedly sent to women by the actor
00:00:56Armie Hammer are trending on Twitter. Shocking DMs allegedly sent from Armie Hammer's public
00:01:07accounts are going viral on social media. How did Armie Hammer go from Hollywood Golden
00:01:14Boy to an alleged abuser? The actor Armie Hammer has been confirmed as the suspect in an alleged
00:01:21sexual assault case by the Los Angeles Police Department.
00:01:27I thought we were all joking about that Armie Hammer stuff but that's real. I just found out
00:01:32that that's real. I have a new development. His aunt wrote a book about their family and let me tell
00:01:37you the stuff didn't start with Armie. I know my grandfather had a dark side but I saw my father's
00:01:44dark side firsthand and I've seen my brother's dark side and I've just heard about Armie's dark
00:01:51side but I believe it. Every generation in my family has been involved in dark misdeeds and it just gets
00:02:00worse and worse and worse.
00:02:03And worse.
00:02:28And worse.
00:03:30In 2017, I am here to talk about what happened in my relationship with Armie Hammer.
00:03:46I would love to be able to paint a picture of the red flags that I saw and what happened
00:03:59in order for me to get in the mindset where I was almost fully controlled by somebody.
00:04:08I had lost my entire sense of self.
00:04:11You're his, completely.
00:04:27I think it was November, December 2019.
00:04:30I remember the Christmas lights in Highland Creek Village.
00:04:33They light up.
00:04:34It's super gorgeous.
00:04:36I was trying to enjoy a night with my friends at a bar in Dallas.
00:04:42And then my friend's like, that's Armie Hammer from the Facebook movie.
00:04:46I didn't know who he was.
00:04:47Like, he was tall and he didn't dress like a frat boy.
00:04:50So I was like, wow, yeah, he's super cute.
00:04:53We, like, saw each other in passing.
00:04:56Like, spoke very briefly at the bar.
00:04:59And then I go home.
00:05:05But then I woke up the next morning and he had added me on Instagram.
00:05:10I followed him back and just sat there from afar looking at each other's lives.
00:05:17He acts very goofy.
00:05:19I remember being like, this is fun.
00:05:22It made him feel interesting.
00:05:25Breaking news tonight.
00:05:27As the COVID-19 virus continues to spread, forcing millions of Americans into lockdown.
00:05:33Non-essential business ordered to close.
00:05:37COVID happened in March.
00:05:39So with everything shut down, my business was on pause.
00:05:43So you're, like, sitting there with your thoughts.
00:05:46It was difficult.
00:05:47And then June 2020, you get an Armie Hammer DM, a little blue check mark.
00:05:55He just chose to speak to me one day.
00:05:58So I was like, hmm.
00:06:00You know, my brain, I'm like, I've been doing nothing for a month.
00:06:05It's COVID.
00:06:06This is interesting.
00:06:08But I was very hesitant because I see the persona that was public.
00:06:14It was he's married and he's the father of these two beautiful kids.
00:06:18So I was like, aren't you married?
00:06:21You know?
00:06:22He's like, my wife and I, we have been separated for almost two years.
00:06:27I've been living in New York.
00:06:28She lives in LA and I believed it because he would send me text messages and call me every
00:06:37day.
00:06:38Constant communication.
00:06:40The second he woke up to, we'd fall asleep on the phone together.
00:06:45And immediately he was just sharing all these things with me, intimate details about his
00:06:53parents, family secrets.
00:06:56And I'm like, wow, this is like really powerful.
00:07:00He must feel like really safe.
00:07:02In return, I felt very safe telling him mine.
00:07:09I had gotten out of a really, really toxic relationship.
00:07:15And we were sharing just very intimate things.
00:07:20A lot of the things we shared were trauma we experienced as children.
00:07:28And it is even a deeper connection, like really like rooted those bonds for me, that
00:07:34he was so vulnerable to share something like this with me because I never told anybody.
00:07:38I wanted to help him.
00:07:41At the same time, he's blowing me up with compliments.
00:07:45How could you be this beautiful, this smart, so funny, you're such a good listener, you
00:07:52get me.
00:07:53It's like, he's like, I feel such an intense connection with you.
00:07:57Is that crazy?
00:07:58Are we being crazy?
00:07:59And I'm just like, maybe we are.
00:08:02Between the love bombing and the tension, I felt like this was all perfect.
00:08:11This was amazing.
00:08:12This was like what we're all taught to think is a fairy tale when we're little.
00:08:19Not only is he an actor, a pretty well-known actor, he was gorgeous and tall.
00:08:26And what does he want with me?
00:08:29You know, to say, to say that it didn't have an effect, I think it would have an effect
00:08:34on anybody.
00:08:36Unfortunately, Armie Hammer can't be here today, which is probably better because we'd
00:08:40all be staring at him since he's such a goddamn hunk.
00:08:45There's like certain people that if they shine their light on you, you believe like you're
00:08:50the only person in the room.
00:08:51So there is an element of that to Armie.
00:08:56I know Armie through acting class.
00:08:59We were in the same Tuesday night acting class for years.
00:09:02I got to watch his kind of rise to stardom.
00:09:06Armie had bit player roles in the beginning.
00:09:09You would have a couple of lines, you know, it builds a resume.
00:09:12Hey, Stardor.
00:09:14And then he got Gossip Girl and that was what, like a couple episodes.
00:09:18But we were all in the same kind of boat.
00:09:20We were all just scrambling to try to get auditions.
00:09:25The social network auditions kind of hit like a tornado.
00:09:29Everybody was auditioning for these roles.
00:09:31You know, this is a great opportunity.
00:09:34Armie was cast as the Winklevoss twins.
00:09:37They have the idea for Facebook on the Harvard campus.
00:09:42You know, the attributes are tall, good looking, comes from extreme wealth.
00:09:48Armie has all of those.
00:09:49And I do remember hearing that David Fincher, the director of the social network, liked Armie's pedigree.
00:09:56These are millionaires.
00:09:58Who knows better than that than a descendant of Armie Hammer?
00:10:03I just can't get over what a great name Armie Hammer is.
00:10:07It's a really hard name to be when you're like five, especially because it's like short for Armand, which is
00:10:11like a big name for a little kid.
00:10:14So you were named for your great grandfather, who was the billionaire owner of Occidental Petroleum.
00:10:20Yes.
00:10:21Which sounds like the bad corporation in a Batman movie, by the way.
00:10:27Armie didn't like speaking about his family or his history.
00:10:43Having lived in Hollywood for 20 years, you see the name Hammer on museums and parks.
00:10:51So I knew that family had a lot of money and power.
00:10:54My name is Seth Abramovich and I'm a journalist.
00:10:58I write for The Hollywood Reporter.
00:11:00When I interviewed Armie, he was in awards contention for Call Me By Your Name and was on that teetering
00:11:07cusp of establishing himself as force to be contended with within Hollywood.
00:11:15We started at Holmby Park in Westwood at his request.
00:11:20There's a big sign that says the Armand Hammer Golf Course.
00:11:23And I was like, look, it's your great grandfather's name.
00:11:28Dr. Armand Hammer has parlayed outstanding private success into public power as a chairman and CEO of Occidental Petroleum, a
00:11:36diversified $16 billion company.
00:11:39Dr. Armand Hammer is one of the world's leading capitalists.
00:11:50Armie's a very handsome actor who came out of privilege.
00:11:53And the history of his family is very interesting.
00:11:56He did not have a typical childhood.
00:11:58So right away, I was intrigued by who this person was.
00:12:04Armie was born in Santa Monica, California.
00:12:07And he said his father made an unusual decision, which was to move the family to the Cayman Islands.
00:12:16He and his young brother were brought there from a young age.
00:12:19I was curious why, out of all the places in the world, the Cayman Islands, I associate the Cayman Islands
00:12:24with offshore bank accounts that sort of can't be touched.
00:12:28So I assumed it was something financial.
00:12:32They returned to Los Angeles, I think he was in seventh grade, and Armie started pursuing this idea that he
00:12:39had when he was younger, which is that he wanted to be an actor.
00:12:47The social network absolutely launched his career.
00:12:50He was starring opposite Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield.
00:12:53It was the movie of the year.
00:12:56That was what made him.
00:12:57I remember bumping into him, and all of a sudden, there's Armie in a three-piece suit, looking amazing, looking
00:13:05like a movie star.
00:13:07It's official. I have a ride.
00:13:09And Elizabeth was with him.
00:13:11I'm here with my beautiful wife.
00:13:12Hi!
00:13:13The roles just kept coming, where he was always playing the handsome man.
00:13:18But the problem was, it was a wave of box office bombs after bombs.
00:13:25You know, these movies weren't hitting.
00:13:28What movie, besides social network, had really made money?
00:13:33Thankfully, Call Me By Your Name happened and got him buzzing again.
00:13:38Armie, straight ahead, please. Armie.
00:13:40There was this buzz everywhere, looked, in the run-up to this movie coming out.
00:13:46It just sounded very daring, very sexy.
00:13:49The two of them together, being sexual on screen, was going to make headlines no matter what.
00:13:55Here he was taking a real risk.
00:13:57Hollywood loves an actor who takes a risk like that.
00:14:00And so that buzz is really what pushed him onto our cover.
00:14:06You were reading about him all the time.
00:14:08People cared about him more.
00:14:09He, of course, was doing massive press for the movie because he was on an Oscar campaign.
00:14:15Your fans want to hear from you.
00:14:17At the time, you could say Armie started cosplaying the life of kind of a perfect movie star, if you
00:14:24will.
00:14:26He seemed to be doing things the exact right way.
00:14:32He had the picture-perfect marriage.
00:14:34He had two children.
00:14:35Everything he described was very much lovey-dovey, fairy tale.
00:14:40He came from this family of wealth and privilege, and his career was swimming.
00:14:47Generally, you did not get the whiff of scandal around him.
00:14:52There was one thing that repeatedly came up when I talked to people and told them I was profiling him.
00:14:59And it was about that he had a sort of edgy interest in BDSM sex.
00:15:06I did bring it up, and he shut me down pretty decisively.
00:15:10He said he has less of a comment than even if he had no comment.
00:15:20Juliette, are you okay to bring up your phone so we can talk about some of those examples?
00:15:38Juliette, are you okay to bring up your phone so we can talk about some of those examples?
00:16:03When I first saw that Armie Hammer was following me, it was about a week before quarantine.
00:16:09And I looked up his Instagram, and I said, oh, it's the guy from the social network.
00:16:16Like, you know, he's a big movie star.
00:16:18He was just in Call Me By Your Name.
00:16:20I opened up my messages with the intention of saying, you know, hey, thanks for the follow or something like
00:16:27that.
00:16:27And I had seen that he had already messaged me in 2017.
00:16:33And it was this long message.
00:16:39He was inquiring about a series of photographs of me.
00:16:46And when I reached out back to him, almost exactly three years later,
00:16:51he got back to me within an hour.
00:16:54And then we just started talking.
00:16:56My name is Julia Morrison.
00:17:00I am an artist and writer based in New York and Los Angeles.
00:17:07That series of artworks is titled For Arabella by an artist named Sarah Baba.
00:17:13They are about a toxic relationship and breaking free from that.
00:17:18You have, you know, very existentialist sorts of captions with beautiful girls.
00:17:25A lot of them are quite provocative.
00:17:28I did ask him which artworks of that series he was most drawn in by.
00:17:34He said he liked that photo of me being choked.
00:17:37He started saying things like, God, you're so perfect.
00:17:40It's like you were made for me.
00:17:41Which is ironic because, you know, he just completely missed the message.
00:17:47Being a young woman in this industry where you're modeling, acting, making art,
00:17:56people will shower you with compliments.
00:17:58And you're like, oh, yeah, well, my shit's tight.
00:18:01You know, like, why wouldn't they be obsessed with me?
00:18:03So, like, I mean, I don't want to sound like totally full of myself.
00:18:07But, no, I was not fully alarmed at first.
00:18:09I was more intrigued.
00:18:12He invited me to a play really early on.
00:18:15I mean, within a few hours, really, of our conversation was, you know,
00:18:19oh, are you in New York?
00:18:20I'm working on a play here.
00:18:22Do you want to come?
00:18:24And I was interested in going.
00:18:27And then lockdown happened.
00:18:31Shortly after that, things became sexual in conversation.
00:18:39It didn't really seem that unnatural at first for me because of the context of the times that we were
00:18:45going through in that moment.
00:18:48You know, my friends were telling me about Zoom dates and phone sex with so-and-so from, you know,
00:18:55Hinge or Tinder.
00:18:56And I'm, you know, speaking with Armie Hammer like this in my Instagram DMs.
00:19:05Once the sexual nature of the DM started, it was all that he wanted to ever talk about.
00:19:12He says to me, fine, let's be open and honest.
00:19:17I've wanted to tie you up since I saw those goddamn pictures and messaged you about it.
00:19:23Shibari is how it's spelled.
00:19:25It's the Japanese art of rope bondage with its cousin Kenbaku for total restraint.
00:19:44And then he was saying to me about how if I were to submit to him at the level where
00:19:54he could, you know,
00:19:56call me and say one word and get me to come on command, like Pavlovian dog style,
00:20:04like kind of getting you into this, like, submissive space where, like, you know, he's, you know, the dominant.
00:20:13These are messages that are being sent literally within seconds of each other, you know, very heavy and very frequent.
00:20:21Let me take care of everything.
00:20:24You don't think or worry about anything except being a good little pet, my own personal little slave.
00:20:34In return, you will be worshipped, fed and fucked.
00:20:39I was like, like.
00:20:42But those little hearts just means that you're engaged or that you even received it.
00:20:47That's totally different than actually being, like, in a intimate space with someone.
00:20:54All of that very forward talk was just kind of, like, back and forth like that for six months.
00:21:01But I did Google and see that he had, you know, had a family.
00:21:06And so I figured a man who's married, who is doing that with me,
00:21:12I'm not naive enough to think that I'm the only one.
00:21:23For July 4th, he tells me he was doing this road trip.
00:21:27He was going Miami to L.A.
00:21:30And he's going to cross through Texas.
00:21:32And I had had plans to go to the Hamptons with some friends.
00:21:36It was already set.
00:21:37And he almost got upset with me that I was going to be gone when he was driving through.
00:21:45Somebody had my phone.
00:21:46They're like, somebody named Army has called you, like, 22 times.
00:21:54He sends me a picture when I'm in the Hamptons of my building in Dallas.
00:22:13At this point, we've never spent time together.
00:22:16So it was weird.
00:22:19I remember being like, are we flirting?
00:22:22Or is this scary?
00:22:40I get back from New York, and he left me this note.
00:22:45Oh, this would be a cute note.
00:22:47So I open the envelope, and it just says, I'm going to bite the fuck out of you.
00:22:55And then he autographed this note.
00:23:00I didn't know how to feel about the note.
00:23:03You know, it was like, he talks so sweetly sometimes on the phone,
00:23:08just like, compliments and compliments,
00:23:10and then I get a note that says, I'm going to bite the fuck out of you.
00:23:15As crazy as that sounds, I took it metaphorically, not literally.
00:23:20I thought he just wanted the intimacy, the closeness, wanted us to be together.
00:23:25So I chose to look at it as more flattering than concerning.
00:23:30When I told my friends about us talking, I left that part out.
00:23:33I think that says a lot.
00:23:40Elizabeth Chambers and her actor husband, Armie Hammer, split.
00:23:44On Friday, the movie star shared the news in an Instagram post.
00:23:49Quote, it has been an incredible journey, but together, we've decided to turn the page
00:23:54and move on from our marriage.
00:23:57They released a joint statement, interestingly enough.
00:24:00So, you know, they were going to be super supportive of each other.
00:24:02This was an amicable split.
00:24:04We've grown apart.
00:24:05We've done everything.
00:24:06You know, there's this thing of, like, if you get married young, if you have kids young,
00:24:11eventually you're going to have some kind of midlife crisis or something that you're going
00:24:15to explore all of these darker sides.
00:24:18Or was that army all along?
00:24:31I was coming to L.A., I was coming to see a friend, and after just talking constantly,
00:24:37Armie and I were both like, okay, we have to meet.
00:24:40And this is a new experience to me.
00:24:42I've never been with somebody like this.
00:24:56He's like, we're going on an adventure to the desert.
00:25:01This is flirty, fun, different, but bizarre, risky.
00:25:08I've never met this man.
00:25:10So, I'm freaking out.
00:25:18I'm so anxious.
00:25:20I didn't know what was going to happen.
00:25:25When I got to L.A., the plan was, Armie was going to pick me up after I had dinner
00:25:32with
00:25:32my friends.
00:25:33I was very nervous.
00:25:34So was he.
00:25:35I mean, he was texting me, like, I can't believe this.
00:25:38I'm so nervous.
00:25:43He pulls his truck up, and I had my dog, and I had a little suitcase.
00:25:49We saw each other, and we, like, kissed on the lips immediately, and I was, like, I think
00:25:53we were both, like, whoop, what?
00:25:55Like, it just felt natural.
00:25:57I got in the car, and then we were, like, off to the desert.
00:26:08It was very surreal.
00:26:11I spent, like, the last month talking to this person five hours a day, and then you're spending
00:26:17time with each other.
00:26:17We spent every day together for the next three weeks.
00:26:25We spent a lot of time in 29 Palms.
00:26:28Armie's friend owns a motel that he's renovating.
00:26:34They painted it.
00:26:38I have a picture of my little dog under this, like, motel sign.
00:26:48Right here, this is where we would have, like, you know, like, dinners right here on this
00:26:54long table.
00:26:56Candlelit dinners.
00:26:59We didn't leave each other's side.
00:27:01My chair was a foot away from it.
00:27:03He's pulling my chair over.
00:27:06He's always, like, his hands on my leg.
00:27:09It's, like, even the first day that we met, his hand was always just, like, on my knee.
00:27:13Like, always needed to be touching me, showing me affection, making me feel really comfortable
00:27:18and really safe.
00:27:21It was so hot, so I'd just be, like, in a bikini all day, like, on the back of the
00:27:25scooter.
00:27:32At night, we would go by the pool in the back of the motel and, like, put a projector
00:27:37out and a screen, and then just, like, watch E.T.
00:27:42It just felt like, I don't know, it felt like another world.
00:27:45It felt magical.
00:27:53We really connected just as two people, not a famous actor and me, who's a very private
00:28:03person.
00:28:04I'm just a business owner in Dallas.
00:28:07It's so not me to drop everything and leave for a man.
00:28:10That's, I've never been like that.
00:28:13I think I was starting to fall for him, for sure.
00:28:16I mean, I wouldn't have said I love you, but it was, it was heading towards that.
00:28:20I took a picture right there, just to pose to remember how happy I am for a second.
00:28:25I truly was so fucking happy.
00:28:29I was like, I can't believe this is happening to me.
00:28:38But there were times that something didn't feel right.
00:28:49This is the first time at this tractor supply that you, like, look for those ropes.
00:28:57He would take me in the rope section.
00:29:01They were completely out of ropes, and I'm just, like, thankful, you know, or I'm just
00:29:05like, okay, let's go.
00:29:07I think that's when he sensed that that was out of my comfort zone, so he kind of softened.
00:29:16One night, he was like, watch this movie.
00:29:20It's called The Secretary.
00:29:22It's one of his favorite movies.
00:29:24Maggie Gyllenhaal is the assistant to this lawyer.
00:29:27What was wrong with you, Dad?
00:29:29He was training her to be very submissive.
00:29:35And she acts as the desk, or she'll do the stapler with her chin, or do everything for
00:29:43him, and just thinks, is this what he wants from me?
00:29:50And there was one thing that happened to me.
00:29:56I don't even like to think about it.
00:30:00The situation that happened was something I didn't, I think it's something you speak
00:30:08about before it's done.
00:30:14And we didn't speak about this.
00:30:17It was something that has never been done to me, and it is something that's very degrading,
00:30:25very belittling.
00:30:27And I just don't, I don't like to, I don't want to put it out there.
00:30:39And then I'm like, holy shit, I've got to get back to my life.
00:30:43So I go home.
00:30:51I broke down in the shower, crying in the shower.
00:30:58And I had this wave of anxiety.
00:31:01It's like my body was responding, trying to be like, hey, something's not right.
00:31:06But I, I put it out of my mind, because when we talk, it's like, I miss you so much.
00:31:12I miss you so much.
00:31:13I need you to move to LA, be my girlfriend.
00:31:15He needed me, and it felt nice.
00:31:18And so we saw each other about a week later.
00:31:23He's like giving me quality time, and constant communication, and PDA.
00:31:29You just feel so loved.
00:31:34When we're together, it felt good.
00:31:35But when we're apart, I had this just like, hit in my stomach.
00:31:40We didn't have the conversation where we're exclusive.
00:31:42But we have all these talks where I'm not supposed to be with anybody.
00:31:45So it's just him.
00:31:47He wants complete control of me, and I didn't have the mental capacity to think about another soul.
00:31:53Because, you know, usually he's sending me a thousand texts and a hundred calls.
00:31:56I wasn't going on dates.
00:31:59That's how we wanted it.
00:32:02Actress Rumor Willis was spotted on a date with Armie Hammer.
00:32:06The couple were photographed walking around LA.
00:32:09According to an insider, he's not looking for a relationship.
00:32:13And they denied claims that he is currently dating anyone.
00:32:20The thing with Rumor happened, and he said it didn't mean anything.
00:32:29But it's like, I remember seeing the way his hand was around her.
00:32:38Because he's very aggressive with his hands.
00:32:41He always wanted to be like, hand on me, hand on my arm, hugging me.
00:32:45Like, always.
00:32:46But like, the way he was touching her, I was just like, made me feel like, even smaller.
00:32:50And I felt betrayed.
00:32:53So I tried to end it.
00:32:57I was supposed to come back to LA in September.
00:33:08By this time, he had moved into this teeny, tiny pool house.
00:33:14So, I go to the teeny, tiny pool house.
00:33:16And I'm like, I'm going to end it.
00:33:18And we were at that pool house.
00:33:19And I was like, you're hurting me.
00:33:21I can't do this anymore.
00:33:24And he said, no, you're going to have to block me.
00:33:27You're going to have to do all these things.
00:33:30I leave.
00:33:31We're both crying.
00:33:55The next day, I go to my friend's in Beverly Hills, and we were on a walk, and he showed
00:34:02up on his scooter, where we were walking.
00:34:05He had my location on his phone, and I fell right back into it.
00:34:12I thought it was romantic.
00:34:14I thought, he's fighting for me.
00:34:16And instead of going back to Dallas, we went on another road trip.
00:34:25I think when you really care for somebody, it's kind of crazy what your mind is willing
00:34:30to look past or justify.
00:34:34But then, you know, there's these things that keep happening that I would have, like, hand marks, like, that would
00:34:42stay on my body.
00:34:47I think Armie took that picture.
00:34:49I think Armie took that picture.
00:34:50He bites really hard.
00:34:52And he tells you to wear them like a badge of honor.
00:34:56Almost like he convinced me that I'm lucky to have it.
00:34:59It's like, as fucked up as that sounds, at that time, I was interpreting that as love.
00:35:07Looking at it now makes me sick, and he pushes your boundaries a little bit at a time.
00:35:15And then the tone of the next trip just felt different from the very beginning.
00:35:29This time, when he picked me up, I saw a brown bag, and it had ropes in it.
00:35:43We drove through Sedona.
00:35:47We get to this hotel.
00:35:51We have dinner.
00:35:53We have this gin, vermouth, like, he orders four of these.
00:35:59I've had one margarita.
00:36:02And it's like, we're not getting along.
00:36:06He's in a weird mood.
00:36:08Nothing about the moment felt good.
00:36:10And then he mentions the ropes.
00:36:13How does my heart drop to my stomach?
00:36:18He told me he's only ever tied up mannequins, never people.
00:36:23He wants to share this with me.
00:36:25This fantasy, this experience.
00:36:29Something new that he's never tried with anybody.
00:36:37So when I was like, I'm really not in the mood.
00:36:38I don't feel good.
00:36:39I don't feel well.
00:36:40And he was just like, acted mad.
00:36:43Like, look away.
00:36:44Like, I just was like, how do I get out of this?
00:36:58Then that night, he was drunk.
00:37:01I was not.
00:37:06And I didn't say no.
00:37:09Um, I said I didn't feel good.
00:37:11I said everything except no.
00:37:19So, he puts on this creepy playlist.
00:37:29And, just like, like, it's like the ropes.
00:37:38The ropes were around your neck, your wrists, your ankles, behind your back.
00:37:43It's like, it was, I mean, I had bruises.
00:37:48I had, I hated it.
00:37:49It's like, I understand that if this is like your fantasy or this is your thing, more power to you.
00:37:57But this was not, I didn't like it.
00:38:00And it's like, it didn't feel safe or like, I didn't feel like loved or, it was just horrible.
00:38:10And you're like, completely immobilized.
00:38:12And it's like, there's something about trauma while you're immobilized and you can't move.
00:38:21There's that fight or flight you can't do either.
00:38:24You're just stuck there.
00:38:25And I'm just closing my eyes until it ended.
00:38:30And then we just, he just went to sleep.
00:38:32Like, it was nothing.
00:38:33Like, could we take a break?
00:38:41I almost didn't want to make it real by writing it down.
00:38:47But after that night, this is what I took away from it.
00:38:53ARMY wanted total control of me and absolute compliance, destroying any sense of bodily autonomy.
00:39:03His ultimate fantasy.
00:39:08That scenario in Sedona, I really started to kind of unravel.
00:39:12It didn't sit well with me.
00:39:15But then it's followed up with him pulling me even closer and being like, I want you to meet my
00:39:20mom.
00:39:22Which is huge to me.
00:39:25I think that's a really big deal.
00:39:27Like, it felt like, okay.
00:39:30You know, I'm just clinging to, like, little things to make this okay.
00:39:37The situation with the ropes was three days before I met his mom.
00:39:42But at that point, it was kind of like a Band-Aid on a bullet wound.
00:39:46There was just, like, too much had happened.
00:39:47And we broke up two days after meeting his mom.
00:40:02I knew something about him would come up in the future because I know how careless he is.
00:40:08I know how he texts and he just leaves trails of all this madness everywhere.
00:40:38I woke up on the second week of January.
00:40:40I got my coffee.
00:40:42I sat down.
00:40:43I started opening up Twitter and coming through.
00:40:46My name is Candace Cronkite and my IG handle is BBF Broadville.
00:40:52I've always been interested in anything with pop culture.
00:40:55I really like, you know, deep diving people's backgrounds and why are they the way that they are and curating
00:41:00things that the public may not know about a person.
00:41:04I passed by a screenshot of a DM with the headline,
00:41:09Armie Hammer's ex-girlfriend is leaking his DMs.
00:41:19All of these screen grabs that were pulled on Twitter were coming from an anonymous account called House of Effie.
00:41:30When I opened up that first text, it was shocking.
00:41:46The content that you're reading and you're like, OK, this is a little kinky to progressively getting darker and darker.
00:41:55Like, this is shocking to this is disturbing.
00:42:03After a couple of text messages, I would see this one posted by House of Effie.
00:42:10You were the most intense and extreme version that I've ever had, raping you on your floor with a knife
00:42:17against you.
00:42:18Everything else seemed boring.
00:42:20You crying and screaming and me standing over you.
00:42:24I felt like, God, I've never felt such power or intensity.
00:42:30You know that there are some kinky things or things that you are unfamiliar with.
00:42:36But the idea that somebody gets off on raping somebody and that is what they're pretending to do, it's, it's,
00:42:47I can't, it's just really sick.
00:42:57And so I couldn't stop.
00:42:59I had to do a story on it because I could tell that this was going to be big.
00:43:03Army Hammer has been in hot water over leaked texts.
00:43:07Because of the community guidelines, I'm not going to say what that's about.
00:43:10But you could head over to my IG highlights to see for yourself.
00:43:14Sadly, I saw people laugh it off and not believe House of Effie.
00:43:19And give it the attention it deserves.
00:43:32In January, I see a message from the Du Moi account, a gossip account.
00:43:38She knew that Army and I had been together in a relationship.
00:43:42Because my name had already been leaked.
00:43:46And so Du Moi would talk about it.
00:43:50The Du Moi account, he was posting these screenshots from an account called House of Effie.
00:43:57And they were really sexually violent messages.
00:44:03So she messaged me, is this true?
00:44:09I know how this man speaks.
00:44:11I could write a text for him, but I've seen them a million times.
00:44:14I know the language he uses, punctuation he uses.
00:44:20He always used the word kitten.
00:44:24He'd be like, hi, my little kitten.
00:44:27That was very common.
00:44:30The messages that House of Effie was showing.
00:44:34He said this exact same word to me.
00:44:37I was like, that's 100% true.
00:44:39That's Army.
00:44:50At that point, I just wanted to validate what House of Effie was saying.
00:45:12The next morning, my life just blew up.
00:45:18Army Hammer's ex-girlfriend, Kourtney Busekovich.
00:45:21Kourtney Busekovich has come forward with flames against her ex, Army Hammer.
00:45:25Once Kourtney was willing to go on the record, this story blew wide open.
00:45:29It was about abuse and power and gaslighting.
00:45:35He said things like he wanted to barbecue and eat her.
00:45:40What is happening with Army Hammer?
00:45:43Disturbing and racy messages allegedly sent to women by the actor Army Hammer are trending on Twitter.
00:45:48Shocking DMs allegedly sent from Army Hammer's public accounts are going viral on social media.
00:45:57His sexually graphic texts and DMs of dominating BDSM and even cannibalism began trending.
00:46:04I think this specific one that she posted really shocked people.
00:46:12I mean, he said, I'm 100% a cannibal.
00:46:17He's like, fuck, it feels weird even saying that.
00:46:19And I can picture him saying that so vividly.
00:46:26And then he said that he shot a deer and then ate its heart.
00:46:40There's this whole then darker underbelly that just starts getting you sicker and sicker.
00:46:45He's talking about wanting to eat flesh.
00:46:48The really, really horrific things and imagery.
00:46:56Where does this end? Where does this go?
00:47:01At this point, people were just running with the cannibalism.
00:47:05I'm loco, poor loco, mad like Hannibal.
00:47:07But not like Army Hammer, that dude's a cannibal.
00:47:12Nobody cared about anything except the word cannibal.
00:47:16Pretending like it was all a joke didn't sit well with me.
00:47:20Because it wasn't a joke.
00:47:25Now it's entertainment.
00:47:27Now we're like, we're leaned in, waiting to see how dark this is.
00:47:33While the DMs remain unverified, the stories have kept coming in.
00:47:38Once Kourtney came forward, other women started coming forward.
00:47:42One of them was the writer, Jessica.
00:47:47She had said, if anyone's questioning whether these DMs are real, I'm here to tell you that they are.
00:47:55Paige Lorenz was another woman involved with Army Hammer.
00:47:59She told her whole story and she did not hold back.
00:48:03He kind of just took me in under his wing and he really was so all-consuming.
00:48:09And he made me feel like it was a safe space.
00:48:12He made me feel like this was normal.
00:48:13He made me feel like this was going to be fun and sexy.
00:48:16But I think he used BDSM as like a smokescreen, ultimately, to hurt women and inflict pain on women.
00:48:23Which is the scariest part.
00:48:26Hollywood is a very business-oriented industry.
00:48:30And now, after Me Too happened and Time's Up, nobody is taking a chance on anybody.
00:48:37The actor Army Hammer has been dropped from the upcoming film, Shotgun Wedding, which he was due to be starring
00:48:43in opposite Jennifer Lopez.
00:48:44Army said in a statement,
00:48:48As soon as allegations start to come out that seem to have substance, they're dropping you like a hot potato.
00:49:00WME immediately dropped Army Hammer.
00:49:04Army Hammer has been fighting for his career after being plagued by a social media scandal.
00:49:17It was always talking about how, what is Army going to do? He lost this movie deal.
00:49:23Nobody was talking about the victims.
00:49:26I just felt like I couldn't leave this story alone.
00:49:31I really wanted to figure out more about him.
00:49:34Wondering what different things has he dropped that we have all been missing.
00:49:40The first thing I saw was an interview on where he was talking about tying a rope within 30 seconds.
00:49:48People get thrilled when you pull out a rope at a party.
00:49:51And it was like, hmm, that's weird.
00:49:54You look through the Twitter, you look through Instagram, you look at who he's following on Instagram.
00:49:59He followed a lot of Shibari accounts, which is a form of Japanese bondage.
00:50:04A lot of women in suggested poses.
00:50:08And then there was an article on Playboy.
00:50:14Army Hammer in Playboy said he likes rough sex, he likes to pull hair, maybe a bit of choking,
00:50:21but he would never do it to his wife because he respects her too much.
00:50:26I found DMs that were showing more text and more and more and more content relating to him being involved
00:50:35in the BDSM world.
00:50:37At that point, I was just confused about it beyond 50 shades of gray.
00:50:42Soon enough, I found out that if you set these predetermined boundaries and they're crossed over and over again,
00:50:49that is a problem.
00:51:00The more research that I've done, the more I found that these things that he did are actually not BDSM,
00:51:05that he's calling them BDSM, but it's actually just unsafe behavior that would normally be criminal.
00:51:15When I looked into it, you could clearly tell this is not BDSM.
00:51:20It was getting darker.
00:51:22This looked like abuse.
00:51:27And then Effie of Instagram account, House of Effie, came forward.
00:51:32She had hired famed attorney Gloria Allred, who's known for advocating for women.
00:51:39Effie is 24 years old and she lives in Europe.
00:51:42She had a romantic and an intimate relationship with Armie Hammer on and off between 2016 to 2020.
00:51:54Effie issued a statement that was an absolute bombshell.
00:52:02I'm attorney Gloria Allred, I'm attorney Gloria Allred, I'm a women's rights attorney in Los Angeles.
00:52:08I'm a partner in the law firm.
00:52:11I deal with many victims of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment.
00:52:24I do represent Effie.
00:52:27Victims need to have support if they're going to come forward against a rich, powerful, famous figure.
00:52:34They shouldn't have to do it alone.
00:52:37Doing it alone is dangerous.
00:52:39It's frightening.
00:52:42This is not for the faint of heart.
00:52:48I met Armie Hammer on Facebook in 2016 when I was 20 years old.
00:52:55The relationship progressed rapidly and the emotions from both sides became really intense.
00:53:02He would often test my devotion to him,
00:53:05finally removing and crossing my boundaries as he became increasingly more violent.
00:53:12He abused me mentally, emotionally and sexually.
00:53:23How can you see somebody breaking down like that and not feel for it and hope it was hard to
00:53:32watch?
00:53:38On April 24th, 2017, Armie Hammer violently raped me for over four hours in Los Angeles,
00:53:50during which he repeatedly slapped my head against a wall, bruising my face.
00:53:57During those four hours, I tried to get away, but he wasn't at me.
00:54:06The way that she was speaking through her story through tears and her conviction about what she had been through,
00:54:15I just thought, you know, every woman thinks, oh God, that could have been me, you know,
00:54:20and it's been really close to being me, and in other situations, it has been me.
00:54:25So, I was really grateful for what she had done in her bravery of coming forward.
00:54:34She came forward and told everything.
00:54:38He also committed other acts of violence against me, to which I did not consent.
00:54:51And it launched a police investigation within the LAPD.
00:54:54The actor, Armie Hammer, has been confirmed as the suspect in an alleged sexual assault case by the Los Angeles
00:55:02Police Department.
00:55:03Right now, Armie's being represented by Andrew Brettler, who's known for his defense of people accused of sexual abuse or
00:55:11sexual misconduct.
00:55:13And that seemed a very strategic move.
00:55:15And in a statement, vehemently denied any wrongdoing on behalf of his client.
00:55:21I know his attorney well.
00:55:24We've had many cases against that firm.
00:55:29And I have said many years ago, and it's still true today,
00:55:34that firm represents Hollywood bad boys.
00:55:37And I represent the women they hurt.
00:55:44Even in BDSM relationships, consent is still at the heart of it.
00:56:00It doesn't mean that anyone can do anything to anyone during a sexual relationship.
00:56:09If she withdraws her consent and he continues, that's a crime.
00:56:15Simple as that.
00:56:28I do think a lot of women and men can relate to engaging with somebody who presented themselves in an
00:56:37almost too good to be true way in the beginning.
00:56:39That was really just a manipulation tactic that led to really bad behavior.
00:56:45My name is Lauren Skay.
00:56:47I go by the Zen Blonde on social media.
00:56:51Okay, so Armie's lawyers have spoken, and they called these claims outrageous and said that all of his encounters were
00:56:56consensual.
00:56:56So I saw the Armie Hammer case unfolding, and in hearing all these stories, I wanted to amplify them because
00:57:03I wanted to push them towards justice.
00:57:06I had so many tips coming in, and it wasn't just tips about Armie.
00:57:10It was tips about the whole family.
00:57:12Armie Hammer's not only a famous actor, but a famous actor whose family is an institution.
00:57:16And then eventually, my friend tipped me off that the Hammer family was crazy and that there were a few
00:57:23books about it.
00:57:25Casey Hammer is Armie Hammer's aunt.
00:57:27I found Casey's book on Audible, so I downloaded it and immediately started listening to it.
00:57:34And literally, like, could not, like, believe what I was hearing.
00:57:37That is when I understood that the red down her front was blood.
00:57:42She was screaming for my father to stop.
00:57:45I could see pain and fear shooting out from her eyes.
00:57:49I heard her voice in my head, run, run.
00:57:54I was paralyzed with fear.
00:57:58I was so infuriated by the book.
00:58:00For me, like, just observing it from afar, it seemed like it was a multi-generational trend.
00:58:08That very, like, wealthy, privileged men got away with different bad things throughout these generations.
00:58:17And then I'm on Google, and I'm like, I can't be the one that tied this together.
00:58:21I can't be the one that ties this together.
00:58:22This has to be something that's known.
00:58:23I'm just late to the story.
00:58:25And then realizing that nobody knows this, and then feeling like, I need to put this out immediately.
00:58:31This needs to immediately become part of the narrative.
00:58:36I'm going to let everyone catch you up with the Army stuff, but I have a new development.
00:58:39His aunt wrote a book about their family.
00:58:40And let me tell you, the stuff didn't start with Army.
00:58:43He is the great-grandson of Armand Hammer, an oil tycoon, whose son Julian, who would be Army's grandfather, was
00:58:49insane.
00:58:50He beat the living daylights out of his wife.
00:58:53I posted everything in rapid succession.
00:58:55As I was still listening to the book, the first video started going viral, and then everyone jumped to the
00:59:02videos after, and some people were, like, literally watching them live.
00:59:06She ended up finding photos of her dad, again, Army's grandfather, watching as one of the housekeepers performed a sexual
00:59:13act on another man.
00:59:14I have to say, like, things exploded on TikTok really quickly.
00:59:19It grew overnight.
00:59:22When it started going viral, I was like, oh, no, this is a real human.
00:59:26I should have maybe alerted her that I was doing this.
00:59:32I remember someone texted me and said, someone's blowing you up on TikTok.
00:59:39I remember pulling up that video, and I was watching comments on the screen, things like, are you sure it's
00:59:47his aunt?
00:59:47Did anybody do a DNA test?
00:59:50I mean, it makes sense.
00:59:52I had been erased from the family.
00:59:56She actually reposted me on Instagram.
00:59:59She said, I don't know who you are, but thank you.
01:00:02Part of me was kind of pleased because the world was finding out, and the other part of me was,
01:00:09oh, my God, I'm dead.
01:00:11My brother's going to fucking kill me.
01:00:16What Army is experiencing came from, I'm convinced, maybe even further back than my grandfather,
01:00:25because you just don't wake up and become this dark controller, abuser.
01:00:35There has to be a seed that's planted.
01:00:42My grandfather built an oil empire.
01:00:45He had politicians in his back pocket, so he never took no for an answer.
01:00:49His life was all about secrets.
01:00:52My father had loaded guns all over the house.
01:00:56He used to shoot at me.
01:00:58It was terrifying.
01:01:01That's the sign of a true monster.
01:01:03You can look in the mirror and not see any fault or that you're doing anything wrong.
01:01:09And that's how deep it goes with my brother.
01:01:12And that's why he's so scary, because he has no conscience.
01:01:17Now it's Army.
01:01:19Every generation in my family has been involved in dark misdeeds, and it just gets worse and worse and worse.
01:01:27There's so much beneath the surface that now is finally coming to light.
01:01:34My name is Casey Hammer, and I'm about to reveal the dark, twisted secrets of the Hammer family.
01:01:40I'm about to reveal the dark, twisted secrets of the Hammer family.
01:02:27I'm about to reveal the dark, twisted secrets of the Hammer family.
