00:03Emerging from a period of darkness, Matthew Guy is demanding justice.
00:07Moira Deeming owes me a public apology.
00:11His Liberal colleague accused the former party leader of assault, claiming he put her in a headlock at this Macedonian
00:17community function in May.
00:18The footage shows Mr Guy with his hand on her back as the pair talked.
00:22I did not do what was alleged.
00:25A police investigation agreed, finding he had no case to answer.
00:29Everyone's seen the video so that's very much in the public domain and the matter's been brought to a conclusion.
00:37It's been a thorough investigation and that there is no offence detected.
00:42Matthew has made a reasonable request for an apology and I support that.
00:46Standing alongside his lawyer and taking no questions,
00:49the visibly shaken Matthew Guy also wants the government to apologise for politicising the accusations.
00:55They can come to me the honourable and easy way or a harder way.
00:59My wife, my sons, my parents, my brother, my cousins, my family who share my name deserve those apologies as
01:09well.
01:10My family name, my reputation is not a political toy.
01:14The bullying MP also taking aim at the court of public opinion.
01:19To Aussie males who are sick of this treatment, who are sick of not being believed, some of us in
01:25parliament still have your back.
01:27I have your back.
01:29Mr Guy has been considering his legal options, including suing Mrs Deeming.
01:34False allegations have devastating consequences.
01:39They can damage a person's reputation, career, mental health and their family life.
01:45Mrs Deeming successfully sued former leader John Pasuto after he'd linked her to neo-Nazis and moved to expel her
01:52from the party room.
01:53Her future in the party is up in the air, with MPs saying her position is untenable.
01:58Is she part of a team? Look, if we can resolve things, then great, then we move on.
02:04Mrs Deeming is in the UK and has been contacted for comment.
02:07I've reached out to Moira and I have requested when she returns to Melbourne that we speak and have a
02:13conversation with her.
02:15Pressure is on Jess Wilson to act.
02:17MPs no longer trust Moira Deeming and are searching for more substantial consequences.
02:21But after the chaos of the past three years, Liberals know they need to act with surgical precision.
02:27And while from the outside it may look like the party is imploding,
02:31this latest unedifying chapter should bring them closer together.
02:34Well, nearly all of them.
