00:30Escape from Webb Headquarters No James Bond story is complete without
00:35a trip to the villain's lair, and the Webb Industries delivers just that. While sneaking
00:40through the facility, Bond and his mentor John Greenway uncover a terrifying secret. Sir Nicholas
00:45Webb and his son have been covering up mistakes made by Thea, an AI built to protect global threats.
00:51It was a lie right from the start. There was no mole ring. Thea drew a false conclusion,
01:00so Webb made it true.
01:01Bond and Greenway are then forced into a desperate escape when they learn the truth. The sprawling
01:06factory becomes the setting for one of the game's biggest shootouts, with conveyor belts and heavy
01:10machinery all turning into weapons. Players are able to trigger chaos from every angle,
01:15using gadgets like the missile pen. It all ends in an epic climax when Bond leaps toward a helicopter
01:20while under fire. Chaos.
01:28Every Bond fan knows the routine. Q introduces a collection of strange new gadgets. Bond plays
01:34around with them, and those gadgets eventually save the day. First Light lets players experience
01:39that formula first-hand early on in the game, and if players were curious enough to look around,
01:44they'd be more than satisfied during the attack on Q-Lab towards the end of the game. Every invention
01:49on the floor becomes part of a massive firefight. Lasers, robotic arms, turrets, lights, fans, chairs,
01:56and explosive devices are all fair game as waves of enemies storm MI6. It's a perfect payoff to all the
02:03time spent in Q's workshop. Alone at home, one of the game's best surprises is how quickly it actually
02:11gets us invested in Bond's fellow recruits. Monroe and Cressida bring friendship, humor, and a sense
02:23of normalcy to James's life, making their early departure incredibly painful. Monroe is killed in
02:28the field, and Cressida's injuries force her to leave MI6 behind. The loss doesn't fully sink in
02:34until Bond returns to the apartment that they all shared. Old takeout menus, unfinished games,
02:39and personal belongings are scattered throughout the home. Every single object feels like a haunting
02:43memento of the lives that once filled the space. It's a quiet, melancholic, reflective sequence that gives
02:49players a chance to process the story, while also hinting at Bond's lonely future.
02:53I could've stopped it, but I failed. It should've been me. James Bond.
02:59The mining truck. The mission Time to Die feels like a greatest hits collection of classic Bond moments.
03:05People think it's all about the lungs, but it's all in the mine.
03:10What a mistake easily made.
03:12There's an undercover persona, an escape from a death trap, a huge gunfight, and even a romantic detour.
03:18Then comes the mission's standout set piece. In a nod to the tank from Goldeneye,
03:22and the construction zone in Casino Royale, Bond enacts a rescue driving an enormous truck.
03:28He smashes through a mining site packed with armed foes and destructible environments.
03:32Scaffolding collapses, debris flies absolutely everywhere, and almost nothing survives the chaos.
03:37As if that all wasn't enough, the music kicks in at just the right moment.
03:41You might recognize it as the iconic theme from On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
03:58James, take the wheel. The driving sequences are some of the game's biggest highlights,
04:03and none of them top Bond's first time in the Aston Martin Valhalla.
04:06After keeping the car out of reach for most of the story, Q finally turns Bond loose behind the
04:11wheel. The wait is more than worth it to be sure. Machine guns and missile launchers slide out from
04:17hidden compartments, allowing Bond to mow down countless enemies with ease. Players can even spin
04:22the car into donuts while firing in every direction, just like in No Time to Die. The sequence even ends
04:28with a classic ejector seat joke. For long time fans, it's the ultimate Bond fantasy brought to life.
04:33Now we're talking. Voice analysis complete. You are not Q. You are Bond. James.
04:39You got me. Opening title.
04:41Run into the sunlight. It's the first light of day when you wake.
04:53If anyone was still wondering whether IO Interactive could capture the spirit of 007,
04:57this put those doubts to rest. The prologue ends with a young Bond delivering a memorable one-liner,
05:03before triggering a huge explosion. From there, the game smoothly transitions into a title sequence
05:08lifted straight from the films. Lana Del Rey's vocals guide players through stylish credits filled
05:13with familiar Bond imagery, including dancer silhouettes, firearms, and artistic environments.
05:18Everything about the sequence feels authentic to this franchise. More importantly, it immediately
05:23shows that the developers understand exactly what fans expect from a proper 007 adventure.
05:40Catching a Flight
05:41For all of First Light's impressive set pieces, the cargo plane mission stands out as pure perfection.
05:46It begins with Bond shooting his way across a runway littered with bad guys and explosions.
05:51He then races alongside a cargo plane and climbs aboard before it takes off. What follows is even
05:57more nonstop excitement. Bond fist fights enemies on the wings, hacks the plane controls, and uses the
06:02aircraft itself to take out groups of mercenaries. The sequence reaches its peak with a thrilling free
06:08fall, where Bond grabs onto an enemy and deploys a parachute before hitting the ground. It's equal parts
06:13to the living daylights and Uncharted 3, and every bit as thrilling as it all sounds.
06:18Isola saves Bond
06:19The Bond franchise has never been short on capable allies, deadly femme fatales, and romantic interests,
06:25and Isola Vale somehow manages to be all three. She's introduced as a French agent,
06:30then later claims to be a thief with a personal score to settle. Each reveal seems to bring us closer
06:35to
06:35understanding her, only for another lie to then emerge. Eventually, it's revealed that her
06:40true goal is stealing Thea for a mysterious employer. By that point, trust between her
06:44and Bond is shattered. That's why her final act lands so effectively. Despite betraying him
06:52and being taken into custody, Isola ultimately saved Bond's life, and even gives a farewell kiss.
06:58It's a twist that leaves big questions unanswered until the sequel.
07:02Don't get used to it.
07:04Training Montage
07:05If you want to prove Monroe wrong, you need to up the game.
07:09Let's be honest, most video game tutorials kind of just feel like homework, right? They're necessary,
07:13but they're usually the least exciting part of the experience. Well, that's what makes First
07:18Light's training montage such a pleasant surprise. After joining the 00 program late, Bond is given
07:23two weeks to catch up with other recruits. What follows then is a fast-moving montage just like the
07:28kind you'd see in a movie. One moment, you're learning to shoot. The next, you're racing through
07:32a driving course, climbing obstacles, or even sparring with trainees. The game never lingers too
07:37long on any one lesson, keeping the pace high from start to finish. More importantly then,
07:42it makes you feel like you're growing alongside Bond as he fights to prove he belongs in MI6.
07:51Greenway's Final Request
07:53Perhaps First Light's most important addition to Bond's lore is his MI6 instructor.
07:57Introduced as a stern mentor who hates Bond's antics, he later comes to admire his ability
08:03to think outside of protocol. Together, they unravel the villain's conspiracy, and even after
08:08Greenway's world collapses, he chooses to stand by James. You said you were out, and let you have
08:13all the fun. Their evolving dynamic becomes one of the game's strongest emotional cores,
08:18making Greenway's fate one of the most gut-wrenching parts of the story. Mortally wounded,
08:22he admits with his dying breath that Bond's compassion is his greatest strength,
08:26urging him to never lose it. You've got heart, Bond. You're just what we need right now.
08:35It's a powerful goodbye that adds real weight to the story's conclusion.
08:39Greenway?
08:43John.
08:45Apart from James, who is your favorite character in the game? Greenway? Q? Moneypenny? Well,
08:51tell us your standout character in the comments.
