00:08My goodness, help them their groan, the strength of the Edson Hanson's M-Bot took the war by storm.
00:13Now that the boys from Oklahoma are back with new music.
00:17And they're here in the UK on their new tour.
00:20Isaac Taylor and Zach join us now straight from Nottingham.
00:24How was that, Zach?
00:26It was great. It was amazing.
00:27Yeah, we played last night and it feels really good to be playing all over the place.
00:31Be in London in a couple of days.
00:35We've been enjoying it.
00:36You're in London right now, by the way.
00:38Yes, we are.
00:39We're in London.
00:40We're going to play Roundhouse in a few days.
00:43I think Thursday is when we play Roundhouse.
00:45I mean, we're making up.
00:46So much of all the musicians are kind of making up the last two years of quiet.
00:50But this is kicking off, I think, 90 plus shows around the world.
00:53So UK, great to be here.
00:54Do you know what?
00:55Well, I'm just watching you back then, and I can see you really embrace that fame as a young age.
01:02You know, it can go one of a couple of ways, can't it?
01:06I know that Robbie Williams quite recently said that fame should come with a government health warning.
01:12Yeah, he's right.
01:14Particularly, it can affect you when you're very young.
01:17I mean, how did you all deal with it?
01:21I think that you have to know who you are in the first place.
01:23I think we had a real advantage of being songwriters first.
01:28And so the music that we put out into the world, whether it's Umbap or whether it's songs like I'll
01:33Come Be Weird,
01:33or some of those early singles from that first record, those are all our voice,
01:38and those are all kind of our lyrics and what we wanted to put into the world.
01:42And so I think we had a real advantage in that area.
01:44A lot of young artists starting off don't have some of that.
01:47And you can still hear those same messages in the new stuff we're doing, right?
01:50There's a new album out right now.
01:52You know, it's three parts.
01:52You still hear those same stories in a song.
01:55But you just survive.
01:56I mean, you were six.
01:57Yeah, I was six when we started.
01:58I was about 11 during the Umbap era when we first came to the U.K.
02:02How do you grow and mature as a person with all of that?
02:07There's all kinds of questions.
02:09You don't.
02:11That's true.
02:11You're my little brother.
02:13My brother.
02:15Music does give you a little bit of license to stay a kid for a little longer than all.
02:19He was also pretty good therapy, going on that stage and writing songs.
02:22I know how Isaac dealt with fame.
02:24He married one of his friends.
02:26I don't know.
02:27Sure.
02:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:28Yeah, no, yeah.
02:29He was in the fifth row.
02:30Yeah, yeah.
02:31I have heard.
02:32But you usually meet your mate at work.
02:35Yeah.
02:35So, yeah, we, you know, work for us at this concert.
02:38Yeah, you see a pretty face like that, you know, you've got to get to know him.
02:41I'm so sorry.
02:42I'm so sorry.
02:43But you were performing and you see this lovely lady that you've been through.
02:46And then what happens?
02:47I very, I made a bit of an ass on myself.
02:51I'm good at my friends.
02:52Sorry.
02:53And, you know, said I tried very hard to get her attention.
02:57And apparently you got her attention.
02:59Yeah.
02:59Well, you are on the stage.
03:01Well, yeah, but, you know, it's not so easy.
03:03I mean, you know.
03:04You didn't have security go escort her back.
03:06Really?
03:07At least.
03:08No, I'll just say.
03:09It's going to be a cosplay dance.
03:10This lifestyle is like, this is normal.
03:12That is kind of normal.
03:14It's a strange life.
03:15You're meeting someone who you instantly know likes you.
03:19I mean, that was a positive sign.
03:21I couldn't really like you.
03:23It was.
03:23Yeah, you know.
03:24But you never really know that.
03:26I mean, just because you see a pretty face in the audience doesn't mean that you get along well.
03:31Doesn't mean that, you know, personalities click.
03:33But it clicked.
03:34And I was very grateful for that.
03:37We have three kids because of it.
03:39You do.
03:40And Taylor and Zach, you both met people that you met through work.
03:43Yeah.
03:44Two lovely women who worked on a church.
03:46And what I think is really impressive is that you all have very strong, long-lasting marriages.
03:52You've been married 20 years.
03:53This year.
03:54I've been married 20 years.
03:5416, 16.
03:55Yeah.
03:55I mean, I think, going back to not kind of going crazy, I mean, we were always songwriters.
04:00We were always performers.
04:01We were always musicians.
04:02That's really, it says musician if you describe our, you know, our occupation.
04:06It doesn't say famous person or celebrity.
04:08It says, like, that's what we do.
04:10And so I think having that sense of this is who we are is a big foundation.
04:15That's such a good point, I think, for anybody who wants to be famous.
04:18It's about the work.
04:19Absolutely.
04:20Love what you do.
04:21You love what you do.
04:22And what, you know, it's not loving being famous.
04:25You know, I'm sure there are books.
04:27Absolutely.
04:27It's loving making the music.
04:29And each of you individually has been songwriting.
04:32And you bring that all together on the album.
04:34Yeah.
04:35This latest record that we put out, the red, green, blue, each color represents each brother.
04:39And we, for the first time, you know, we spent all these years doing stuff together.
04:43And for the first time, we decided maybe we'd deconstruct the band and break the record into three parts.
04:48And each brother basically on their own wrote five songs, produced five songs.
04:53And we played on each other's stuff.
04:55But it was like, okay, Tay, what do you want to do?
04:57Okay, Zach, what do you want to do?
04:58And more like we were studio musicians as opposed to, like, giving Zach way too many, you know, opinions about
05:05his side.
05:07Well, look, it's great to see you.
05:09Where are you playing next?
05:10We're playing in Glasgow next.
05:13And we're all over the UK.
05:15We've got, as I said, playing in London on Thursday.
05:18And all over the UK.
05:19Leaser.net, you can find out.
05:20I love it.
05:21Brilliant.
05:21Do you know what?
05:22It's great to see you.
05:23You seem really healthy.
05:26We're good actors.
05:28Thank you, guys.
05:30All the very best.
05:31Good morning, Brittany.
05:32It's back tomorrow from 6.
05:33It's Lorraine.
05:33Bye.
