Before CONTROL Resonant completely warps Manhattan in 2026, we need to talk about Remedy Entertainment's ultimate sci-fi masterpiece: Quantum Break! In this full gameplay playthrough, we are revisiting Jack Joyce’s time-bending journey and Monarch Solutions. While Microsoft technically owns the IP, Remedy has masterfully woven this lore into the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU).

Today, we are breaking down the massive links between Martin Hatch's shifter abilities and Mr. Door—the cosmic entity Dylan Faden encountered in his dreams.

With Dylan Faden taking the protagonist spotlight in the upcoming Control sequel, using the liminal space known as "The Gap" to alter reality, understanding the "Time Stutters" and chronon particles of Riverport is more important than ever. Watch how the breaking of time itself laid the cosmic groundwork for the Federal Bureau of Control's shifting worlds!

00:04:362. Ground Zero Op All
00:04:40Hey, Jarheads. Just got word from Martin Hatch.
00:04:44Apparently, our almighty overlord, JK, Paul Serene, has given the green light to our PR proposal.
00:04:52We're implementing a broad PR strategy to deal with the public reaction to the university operation.
00:04:58That means that you will all be working with me directly for the next several hours, whether you like it
00:05:03or not.
00:05:04That's directed at you, Dave.
00:05:05First up, news broadcast.
00:05:08I've skimmed through the list of witnesses polled from the university and marked the best candidate to deliver our false
00:05:14confession.
00:05:15Amy Ferraro.
00:05:17Perfect mix of hot and sad puppy.
00:05:19Media will eat her up.
00:05:21Green screen and recording equipment are being prepped as we speak.
00:05:25Time is of the essence.
00:05:26I need that video shot and delivered to me within the next half hour in order to get it to
00:05:31media in time.
00:05:32So get her ready for her 15 minutes of fame.
00:05:35We're going to be pinning all this on Jack Joyce, that wacky little domestic terrorist rascal.
00:05:40Somebody needs to take the fall, right?
00:05:43The device that Monarch stole from the university but Charlie isn't allowed to know any further details about due to
00:05:50his security clearance has been airlifted to the Ground Zero operation.
00:05:54I'm arranging covert transport to its final destination at Monarch Tower.
00:05:58I'll be your eye in the sky, monitoring traffic to make sure the route is clear.
00:06:03Also, I want my security clearance upgraded once this shit calms down.
00:06:07Level 4?
00:06:08Bullshit.
00:06:10Still searching for Joyce.
00:06:12Transport disappeared after entering the Ground Zero perimeter.
00:06:15Digging through our hundreds of camera feeds to see if anything comes up.
00:06:19Even if we can't locate him ourselves, it's not like Joyce can go anywhere without somebody spotting him once Ferrero
00:06:25does her thing.
00:06:26Liam Burke is leading the search party on the ground.
00:06:29Five dollars to anybody who can make Burke smile.
00:06:32That's all for now.
00:06:33The brain to your bronze.

00:10:49What's Reaper Squad doing with the video cameras on main 3?
00:10:52Looks like some bitch named Amy's gonna be the poster girl for Serene's PR campaign.
00:10:57Filming confession videos.
00:11:00We blew the library to create misdirection.
00:11:03The media's gonna latch to that and Amy's gonna tell them the protesters were behind the
00:11:07whole thing.
00:11:09You honestly think that's gonna be enough?
00:11:11We've got a hell of a lot of noise out there.
00:11:13Well, you haven't seen Serene and Hatch work their magic.
00:11:16Eleven minutes after we left, I heard the cleaners had every bullet hole filled.
00:11:21Police have the whole campus roped off.
00:11:23But guess who paid off the police?
00:11:25Jesus.
00:11:30Big shot!
00:11:50This elevator looks like the only way out of here.
00:11:53There's got to be a generator around here somewhere.
00:11:57No power.
00:11:59Figures.
00:12:04There we go.
00:12:09What the hell is that?
00:12:16Hello?
00:12:18Jack, this is Beth Wilder.
00:12:19Beth?
00:12:20I'm...
00:12:20You're the one my brother was looking for.
00:12:23I'm the one who was attempting to rescue your ass until you decided to go on a gunblazing
00:12:27ship parade through that warehouse.
00:12:29Now listen closely.
00:12:30You're at the outskirts of a Monarch Clonan harvesting operation, and Paul Serene is at
00:12:35the dry docks nearby.
00:12:36Not a recipe for fun times.
00:12:39So how about...
00:12:39Dry docks.
00:12:41Paul's at the dry docks.
00:12:43Then that's where I'm at.
00:12:44No.
00:12:44Jack, the fracture is our only priority now.
00:12:47Time is ending.
00:12:49Will said he...
00:12:50Will's dead.
00:12:51My best friend came back a goddamn monster.
00:12:53He knew this would happen.
00:12:54He prepared for it.
00:12:55But Paul's the key to understanding all this.
00:12:57And I'm gonna find him.
00:12:58We both know that if you find Serene, you're not gonna be asking questions.
00:13:03Think this through.
00:13:09Paul was at the dry docks in the distance.
00:13:12I recognized a place.
00:13:15William had a workshop in that industrial area for years.
00:13:19I knew that couldn't be a coincidence.
00:13:30I did what you said, okay?
00:13:33Please.
00:13:35Please just let me go.
00:13:36You did good, Amy.
00:13:38Broadcast just went up.
00:13:40But Hatch wants a follow-up confession.
00:13:42You got the script?
00:13:44Yeah, this one's more reflective.
00:13:46Like, wish we could undo what we've done sort of deal.
00:13:50Dave will feed you the lines.
00:13:51Dave?
00:13:53You're using your names.
00:13:56You're not letting me go, are you?
00:13:58You're never letting me go.
00:14:01Please.
00:14:02I didn't do anything.
00:14:04I just...
00:14:05It ain't fair, right?
00:14:06So use that on camera.
00:14:08Protests got out of hand.
00:14:10Thank God, Monarch was there to save us.
00:14:13No.
00:14:13I'm not doing this again.
00:14:16You're not letting me go.
00:14:17I'm not gonna do this.
00:14:18Are you fucking sure about that, princess?
00:14:21Not the time to play hero.
00:14:23Stay on side, we all go home.
00:14:25Hey, maybe pay those student loans of yours.
00:14:28I'll give you a minute to clear your head.
00:14:30Obviously, you aren't thinking straight.
00:14:37What was that?
00:14:42Oh.
00:14:58Jack, Joyce.
00:15:00You.
00:15:01From the protest.
00:15:02What are you...
00:15:04I am so sorry.
00:15:06I didn't want to, but they made me do it.
00:15:09They made you do what?
00:15:11What is this place?
00:15:14They forced me to make false confessions for the news, I think.
00:15:18I'm so sorry, Jack.
00:15:21They were armed.
00:15:22Hey.
00:15:23Whatever you did, it's not your fault.
00:15:25None of this is your fault.
00:15:27I'm just glad you're okay.
00:15:41October 9th, 2016, 722 AM.
00:15:46From Paul Serene.
00:15:50Rhi, Ground Zero Operation.
00:15:53To Sophia Amaral.
00:15:56Sophia, yes, the fracture has begun.
00:16:00And yes, it will take its inevitable course, but you worry too much.
00:16:06I understand your concerns, but our preparations will be ready by the time it has run its course.
00:16:13Keep in mind that I've been to the end of time.
00:16:16I've seen how this plays out.
00:16:18We've taken every precaution necessary.
00:16:21Now we just need to make sure that the pieces fall into place.
00:16:25We cannot cancel the gala tonight.
00:16:28The team needs reassurance that our plan is moving forward without further complications.
00:16:33Even those who aren't aware of the lifeboat protocol need a guarantee that their efforts are not in vain.
00:16:40They need to know that I am in control.
00:16:43The university was only the first step.
00:16:46Now the real work begins.
00:16:49I am almost finished up at Ground Zero.
00:16:51I will head to the island for my treatment very soon.
00:16:55I couldn't have done this without you, Sophia.
00:16:58Paul
00:16:59To Paul Serene.
00:17:02From Sophia Amaral.
00:17:05Date, October 9th, 2016.
00:17:087.01 AM.
00:17:11Subject, Fracture and Your Health.
00:17:14Paul
00:17:15The fracture occurred at exactly 4.15 AM, just as you predicted.
00:17:20However, the stutters seem to be occurring at an alarming rate, much more frequently than we expected.
00:17:27I know better than to question your knowledge on the matter,
00:17:30but I just want to be sure that the timeline you proposed grants us enough time for what must be
00:17:35done.
00:17:36You didn't receive your treatment before you left.
00:17:39I can't stress how important it is that you continue consistent treatments, or the efficiency will dwindle.
00:17:45We can't afford for your sickness to intensify.
00:17:49Not now.
00:17:50Please, come to the island to receive your treatment as soon as time permits.
00:17:55I'm worried about you.
00:17:57Dr. Sophia Amaral.
00:17:59Head of Research.
00:18:04God, I knew Marek was doing something, but this is completely fucked up.
00:18:17Listen, I need to get to the dry docks.
00:18:19Do you know the way?
00:18:20Uh, no, uh, no, I don't think so.
00:18:24But they took me in through a security station nearby.
00:18:27I can help you find a way through there.
00:18:30I owe you.
00:18:41The security station is right over there.
00:18:50Ugh.
00:18:52I knew Marek had a dark side, but this?
00:18:55They're controlling the entire media, everything.
00:18:59They can't cover this up.
00:19:01It's too big.
00:19:03They can.
00:19:04Trust me.
00:19:11It's locked.
00:19:13Okay, there must be a gate control around somewhere.
00:19:17Yeah, I'll check.
00:19:21Monarch's twisting the story for the media, claiming the protest went hostile and that we detonated the library.
00:19:28They're blaming you, Jack.
00:19:32I'm Paul's scapegoat.
00:19:34This isn't good.
00:19:35Once that newscast goes live, the whole city is going to be against you.
00:19:39Nobody's going to have a clue what really happened.
00:19:44Do you think the others are okay from the university?
00:19:48I have no idea.
00:19:50They told me they were sent home, but I don't know what to believe anymore.
00:19:59Hey, it worked.
00:20:05It's not holding long.
00:20:07I don't think you're fast enough.
00:20:11That could be fixed.
00:20:18Oh my god.
00:20:20You're just...
00:20:23You're just like them.
00:20:25Like who?
00:20:27I saw them on the way in.
00:20:29These geared up soldiers that blink in and out.
00:20:34Okay.
00:20:36Something new to look forward to.
00:20:39You know, I thought I was losing my mind when I saw that.
00:20:43You're part of this.
00:20:45I need to know what's going on.
00:20:48You really want to open that can of worms?
00:20:51You just defied physics.
00:20:53I'm entitled to all the worms.
00:20:58Alright, my brother tried to explain.
00:21:01Time is an egg, which is now fucked.
00:21:05A time egg, which is...
00:21:06It's fucked.
00:21:07It's like broken.
00:21:08I don't know.
00:21:09W-what?
00:21:11Why is there an egg?
00:21:14Time is ending.
00:21:15Monarch has something to do with it.
00:21:17Get me to the dry docks, and I'll find out why.
00:21:26Maybe you can climb through that open window on the second floor?
00:21:29Yeah.
00:21:30That should work.
00:21:31Wait here.
00:21:37Okay.
00:21:38Well, I'll fill you in with what I know,
00:21:40but when you put the pieces together,
00:21:42it all goes banana pancakes.
00:21:44So everyone thinks that Monarch is run by this smarmy asshole named Martin Hatch,
00:21:49but everyone here answers to a guy named Paul Serene,
00:21:52and apparently he founded Monarch in 1999.
00:21:57Now, here's the thing.
00:21:59Paul Serene is the exact name of a guy
00:22:01who was heading some top-secret physics project at my university,
00:22:04so it's gotta be the same guy, right?
00:22:08Wrong.
00:22:10You know, I heard that Monarch was there to steal the project from the university,
00:22:14but why steal something from yourself?
00:22:17Also, I saw that guy Paul Serene on campus once,
00:22:20and he looked like 30 years old.
00:22:22So if you started Monarch in 1999,
00:22:24that would make him 14.
00:22:26So unless he's a dookie-houser for corporate America,
00:22:29that's impossible.
00:22:31Banana fucking pancakes.
00:22:34So Paul founded Monarch.
00:22:45Need to get up to that open window.
00:22:47Huh.
00:22:51Huh.
00:22:55Yeah, that window's pretty high up,
00:22:57but I think it's the only way in.
00:23:14Is that another one of those?
00:23:20I'm starting to get the hang of this.
00:23:22What do you think?
00:23:26All right, that's it.
00:23:31That window, Jack?
00:23:35Made it.
00:23:36Now to get to that door.
00:23:48Finally.
00:23:49Good work.
00:23:52I need to make this right.
00:23:55I'm going to use the terminal up here
00:23:56and try and dig up what Monarch's really up to.
00:24:07Ferraro, an eyewitness on the scene.
00:24:09Amy, tell us, what is going on here?
00:24:11There are people from our group
00:24:13who took things too far.
00:24:15Shit.
00:24:16Things got very violent.
00:24:17I'm so sorry, Jack.
00:24:19They forced me to do it.
00:24:20I know.
00:24:21Of Jack Joyce.
00:24:22There's nothing you could have done.
00:24:23Sounds like a terrifying scene down there.
00:24:25We really appreciate
00:24:25where you were going on record to speak out.
00:24:28against what appears to be
00:24:29such a dangerous person.
00:24:31Around zero.
00:24:33That's the same area
00:24:34my brother used to have his workshop.
00:24:37I may have to pass through there
00:24:38to get to Paul.
00:24:40Paul?
00:24:41As in Paul Serene?
00:24:43That's why you're going to the dry docks.
00:24:46October 9th, 2016, 821 AM.
00:25:00It's all rumors and conjecture from what I hear.
00:25:03I wasn't at the university op,
00:25:06but there's no way Jack Joyce took out all those guards.
00:25:09He's just some random guy,
00:25:12not a trained assassin.
00:25:13The stories floating around make it sound like he's shooting laser beams out of his goddamn asshole.
00:25:20Anyway, they got Liam Burke hunting him down right now,
00:25:24so I think it's safe to say Joyce is fucked.
00:25:27Off the record,
00:25:28I heard Paul Serene has been investigating a potential traitor within Monarch.
00:25:33Somebody's been accessing all kinds of confidential information.
00:25:37Remember that research Dr. Amaral was doing to find a permanent cure for Serene's sickness?
00:25:43Rumor has it somebody sabotaged the tests,
00:25:46had to start over.
00:25:48Just a few weeks later,
00:25:49the uni-op goes sour,
00:25:51willing to bet the same person sabotaged us there.
00:25:55Keep your eyes peeled, man.

00:26:11Gil,
00:26:12were you with Prowler Unit at the uni?
00:26:15Hearing all kinds of rumors that Jack Joyce took out seven squads on his own.
00:26:20They're saying he's chrono-active without any kind of tech.
00:26:23We're getting stories about him freezing operators,
00:26:27disappearing into thin air.
00:26:29Even heard one about him being in two places at the same damn time.
00:26:34I thought it was all bullshit,
00:26:36but we just got word that his transport went missing after it entered Ground Zero Perimeter.
00:26:41How the hell does that happen?
00:26:43We got reason to be alarmed?
00:26:45They ain't telling us shit over here.
00:26:49Ashton
00:26:49We have unfinished business.
00:26:52You may want to stay here until I'm done.
00:26:55Yeah.
00:26:56I think you're right.
00:26:57I'll open the door for you.
00:26:59Okay.

00:27:07You too.
00:27:09Mr. Serene's chopper is inbound for...
00:27:12Hey, Clarice?
00:27:12Is that you?
00:27:13This is HQ Alpha.
00:27:15Charlie, I told you to stay off the operations challenge.
00:27:18Sure, Clarice, listen.
00:27:19Pat's told me to search for Joyce.
00:27:20I've got footage of Burke taken out of Guard in A1.
00:27:23Back of Monarch truck was left open.
00:27:25Now I'm checking...
00:27:26Seriously, don't worry about me.
00:27:27Guards are either sleeping on the job or, you know...
00:27:29Just do what you need to do.
00:27:30Not sleeping?
00:27:31You know what I'm saying?
00:27:32Catch my drift?

00:27:39I'm just giving you a heads up, okay?
00:27:41Over an hour or whatever.
00:27:50Still no word on Joyce's location.
00:27:52Yeah, I heard his brother scream like a bitch when he died.
00:27:56When he shows his face, I'll make him do the same.
00:28:00Son of a...
00:28:02Did I scream?
00:28:05My powers were unpredictable.
00:28:07They kept growing by leaps and bounds.
00:28:26Jack, I found a radio.
00:28:28You okay?
00:28:29Still kicking.
00:28:32Monarch radio is lighting up.
00:28:33They heard a noise and know you're coming.
00:28:35Be careful out there.

00:42:28My screenplay
00:42:30To Sophia Amaral
00:42:33Hey, Dr. Amaral.
00:42:35We haven't talked too much,
00:42:37but I'm one of Serene's guys from Reaper Squad.
00:42:40Working around all this time tech stuff,
00:42:43or chrono tech, you call it, I guess,
00:42:46got me real inspired,
00:42:48so I started writing a screenplay.
00:42:50There's a lot of science talk in here,
00:42:52so I want a scientist to check it
00:42:54and make sure it kind of makes sense.
00:42:57Would you mind taking a look?
00:42:59Thanks.
00:43:00Here is the first half.
00:43:02Time Knife
00:43:03Written by Bruce Livingston
00:43:06Act 1
00:43:07Interior
00:43:09Office
00:43:10Night
00:43:10Bruce Savage stands in his office.
00:43:14He is sexually attractive.
00:43:16Somebody knocks on Bruce's door,
00:43:19and he opens it.
00:43:20It's a scientist's lady.
00:43:22She looks like a librarian with glasses,
00:43:24but she is actually a scientist.
00:43:26You can tell because she has a lab coat.
00:43:30Lady Scientist
00:43:31Help me.
00:43:33Bruce
00:43:33Okay.
00:43:35Lady Scientist
00:43:36Take this knife,
00:43:37because some bad apples are trying to steal it,
00:43:40and it is very important.
00:43:42Bruce
00:43:43Okay.
00:43:44Lady Scientist
00:43:45What is your name, handsome?
00:43:48Bruce
00:43:48I'm Bruce.
00:43:50Let's shake hands.
00:43:52Bruce and Lady Scientist shake hands.
00:43:55Lady Scientist
00:43:56Wow, you almost broke my hand with that handshake.
00:44:00You are definitely a tough guy.
00:44:03She is impressed with Bruce's strength.
00:44:05She looks at his large biceps like they are delicious pieces of ham,
00:44:09but she doesn't want to eat them.
00:44:11Lady Scientist
00:44:13Here is the knife.
00:44:15The Lady Scientist hands Bruce the knife.
00:44:18It looks mostly like a knife,
00:44:20but also like a time machine,
00:44:21because it is both a knife and a time machine,
00:44:25but Bruce doesn't know that yet.
00:44:27Goons break through the windows and shoot the Scientist's lady.
00:44:31She dies.
00:44:33Scientist's lady
00:44:33Avenge me!
00:44:35Bruce
00:44:36Okay.
00:44:37Bruce kills the goons with his legs by doing lots of kicking at them.
00:44:42They are dead real quick.
00:44:44Bruce
00:44:44Looks like I got a leg up on you guys.
00:44:48The audience probably laughs here,
00:44:50so Bruce waits to deliver his next line for around five seconds,
00:44:54so everybody has calmed down.
00:44:57Bruce
00:44:57What is so special about this knife?
00:45:01Bruce stabs the knife into his chair.
00:45:03The chair disappears.
00:45:05Bruce
00:45:06The chair disappeared.
00:45:08He looks at a picture on his wall,
00:45:10which is a big photograph from 1932,
00:45:13with lots of people from 1932 in it.
00:45:16Bruce's chair is in the picture.
00:45:19Bruce
00:45:19Interesting.
00:45:21My chair traveled back in time to 1932 when I stabbed it.
00:45:26When I stab things, they travel through time.
00:45:28That explains why this knife looks like a knife,
00:45:31but also like a time machine.
00:45:33Because it is both.
00:45:35Bruce's real goofy friend from across the hall runs into the room.
00:45:39He trips on something on the floor.
00:45:41His name is Slabo.
00:45:43He isn't as fat as his name sounds.
00:45:46Slabo
00:45:47That is Slabo's catchphrase, and he says it in a real funny way.
00:45:53Scientist lady
00:45:54Bruce, you saved my life.
00:45:57The scientist lady was only faking being dead.
00:46:00Scientist lady
00:46:01Are you married?
00:46:03Bruce
00:46:04Only to my job.
00:46:06Scientist lady
00:46:07I find that attractive, but also respectable.
00:46:11She kisses Bruce's cheek.
00:46:13Slabo
00:46:14Ah, what about my cheek?
00:46:16Ah, man!
00:46:18That is Slabo's other catchphrase,
00:46:20which he says in a different but equally funny way.
00:46:24Bruce waits a few seconds for the audience to stop laughing before speaking.
00:46:29Bruce
00:46:29Wait
00:46:30Those lips were man lips, not woman lips.
00:46:33Bruce pulls off the scientist lady's wig.
00:46:36She is actually Bruce's boss, Paul Marine.
00:46:40Paul Marine is a douche.
00:46:42Bruce
00:46:43My boss, but why?
00:46:46Paul Marine
00:46:46I wanted you to kill those guys because they wanted me dead.
00:46:51I knew you were real tough so you could kill them easy, but I don't respect you as an employee,
00:46:56so I always make you do the shitty jobs even though you've been working at my company
00:47:00more than most of the other guys and are real smart.
00:47:03Also, I don't like you because my girlfriend finds you sexually attractive.
00:47:08Bruce
00:47:09Now I understand.
00:47:10Paul Marine
00:47:12Give me my time knife back.
00:47:15Paul Marine snaps his fingers and 73 goons surround Bruce.
00:47:20Paul Marine
00:47:21You can't kill 73 goons, so just give up.
00:47:25Bruce
00:47:26I don't have time for this.
00:47:28Bruce
00:47:29Bruce stabs himself with the time knife and disappears.
00:47:32Slabo
00:47:33Ah, yeah!
00:47:35He time-traveled using the time knife.
00:47:38Bruce
00:47:38Opens the door.
00:47:40Now he's twice as jacked.
00:47:42Paul Marine
00:47:43You're even more sexually attractive.
00:47:45How is this possible?
00:47:48How is this possible?
00:47:48I stabbed myself and traveled to the past, then trained in all kinds of martial arts to
00:47:54become even stronger.
00:47:55I also strapped explosives into everybody's boots in the past, so that when I press this
00:48:00detonator, you will all explode.
00:48:03Slabo
00:48:04Ah, yeah!
00:48:06Bruce
00:48:06I'm glad I have stocks in this company.
00:48:10Paul Marine
00:48:10Why?
00:48:11Bruce
00:48:12Because business is booming.
00:48:15Bruce presses the detonator.
00:48:17All 73 goons blow up like eggs in a microwave.
00:48:21Paul Marine doesn't explode.
00:48:23Luckily, I used my metal detector this morning and found the explosives.
00:48:28So, I switched boots with somebody else.
00:48:31Say, Slabo, whose boots are you wearing?
00:48:34Slabo explodes.
00:48:37My best friend.
00:48:39You'll pay for this.
00:48:41You don't want to stab me with that time knife.
00:48:45Why not?
00:48:46Because I am actually you from the future.
00:48:50That doesn't make sense.
00:48:52Yes, it does.
00:48:54Remember that the time knife is also a time machine.
00:48:57I am you from the future, but I stabbed myself with the time knife in order to come back here
00:49:04and do all of this.
00:49:06But we don't look the same.
00:49:09That is a good point, and I'm glad you brought it up.
00:49:12First, I time-traveled 700 years into the future, to a time where humans have created advanced
00:49:18technology that allows surgeries that completely change people's faces and bodies.
00:49:23I had this surgery performed so that you wouldn't be able to recognize me, but I am actually
00:49:30you in disguise.
00:49:32I can prove it because I know many things about you.
00:49:59Paul lifts up the left leg of his pants, but there is no birthmark.
00:50:04Instead, there is an ankle holster for a gun.
00:50:08Paul pulls out the gun and aims it at Bruce.
00:50:12I was lying this whole time.
00:50:14I'm not actually you.
00:50:16I was just saying all of that so that I could get my gun.
00:50:20Son of a bitch.
00:50:22Also, in the future, I melted the time knife and turned it into bullets.
00:50:28Those bullets are now in this gun, which means that I can shoot you, but also send you through
00:50:34time all at once.
00:50:36Finally, you will be out of my way so that I can marry my girlfriend So Fine later today,
00:50:43before you are able to tell her that I'm a real shitty guy.
00:50:47I didn't know you were getting married today.
00:50:50I know.
00:50:51My girlfriend So Fine made an invitation for you because she admires you and thinks you're
00:50:57attractive, but I destroyed the invitation and then lied to her and said I gave it to you
00:51:03at work, but now I am here to give you a different invitation.
00:51:07To your funeral.
00:51:10Paul Marine shoots at Bruce.
00:51:13Slobo jumps in front of Bruce.
00:51:16Slobo wasn't actually dead.
00:51:18He jumps in front of the bullets and is shot several times.
00:51:22Now he's actually dying.
00:51:25Avenge me.
00:51:27Okay.
00:51:29Bruce goes to attack Paul Marine, but now Paul Marine has disappeared.
00:51:35He's gone.
00:51:37Slobo is dying on the ground, covered in blood.
00:51:40His body is red, like a hot dog covered in lots of ketchup.
00:51:45You must stop the wedding.
00:51:49You are totally a better guy and clearly more attractive than Paul.
00:51:54You should be dating his girlfriend So Fine.
00:51:59Slobo dies.
00:52:01Bruce just sits there next to Slobo for a while, because many people will be crying at this point.
00:52:08He eventually gets up.
00:52:10Looks like I'm going to a wedding, after all.
00:52:14He holds out the time knife.
00:52:18Somebody's got to cut the cake.
00:52:20Cut the cake means he's going to kill Paul.
00:52:23The audience will understand because of the way the actor says it.
00:52:27It's a real intense moment.
00:52:30Bruce puts on his shades.
00:52:33End of Act 1.
00:52:36Amy, you okay up there?
00:52:41Shit.
00:52:41October 9th, 2016, 7.41 a.m.
00:52:47From Martin Hatch, re, Next Steps, to Clarice Ogawa.
00:52:54Nothing changes.
00:52:56We move forward.
00:52:57The university fallout was a setback, but we can use these complications to our advantage.
00:53:04Paul is focused on Phase 3 of the plan.
00:53:07He is questioning if there are traitors within Monarch, but I am confident that he does not know where to
00:53:13look for them.
00:53:14I will make sure to shift the blame elsewhere.
00:53:17The gala is going ahead tonight.
00:53:19That is when we make our next move.
00:53:22You take care of the preparations.

00:53:46Subject, re, Next Steps.
00:53:49The university operation gathered far more attention than we expected.
00:53:54How does this impact our agenda moving forward?
00:53:57I'm concerned that Paul Serene will be paying closer attention to our actions.
00:54:02Perhaps we should delay making our move until things calm.
00:54:23It's locked.
00:54:24There's got to be another way to get through here.
00:54:40Jesus!
00:54:42Close one.
00:54:44HQ, we just heard an explosion near the harvesting perimeter.
00:54:48It'll take a while to guess who that could have been.
00:54:51Charlie, get off the line.
00:54:52Striker team, take defensive positions around Ground Zero.
00:54:57Roger.
00:55:04I recognized Will's workshop as soon as I saw the old billboard on top.
00:55:08The area we refer to as Ground Zero.
00:55:12It was clear that the workshop was at the center of the Monarch operation.
00:55:16I wanted to see what was in there.
00:55:17And it seemed to be the only way to the dry docks, answering.
00:55:22Got the word.
00:55:23Safeguard squad's checking out that explosion.
00:55:25Striker team is establishing a defensive perimeter.
00:55:28Hostile!
00:55:32Give up.
00:55:33Give up.
00:55:56That was close.
00:55:59Backup approaching green zone.
00:56:01Engaging target.
00:56:16Striker one, we're experiencing signs of the incoming stutter.
00:56:19Vanguard, I want choice contained before that stutter hits.

01:03:01Clearly that's not the case
01:03:04How do I know she's unsupervised?
01:03:07Because A. she's in the goddamn security station
01:03:10And B. she's digging through sensitive Monarch files and transferring them to a USB stick
01:03:16No big deal

01:03:32The guy you were supposed to stop from turning our entire operation into a clusterfuck
01:03:37Maybe get on that while we still have an operation left
01:03:41Can you just act like this was your natural environment?
01:03:45You know, like a high school locker room

01:05:24Fiona
01:05:26I share your concern
01:05:28Paul's treatments are becoming increasingly ineffective
01:05:31And I hypothesize that the onset of the fracture
01:05:34Will increase the Cronin Syndrome's rate of progression exponentially
01:05:38I've been trying to take a more calculated approach
01:05:41At finding a permanent cure for Paul's sickness
01:05:44But Martin Hatch has shifted all the necessary resources
01:05:47Into our tech division instead
01:05:49I'm beginning to question his behavior
01:05:52Every attempt I've made to discover a cure
01:05:55Has been met with Martin's red tape
01:05:57Just between us
01:05:59I do start to wonder if Martin even wants Paul to be cured
01:06:03I've looked into Martin's past
01:06:05He began work for Monarch in 2001
01:06:08But I couldn't find any records about his past
01:06:10Or any aspect of his life before then
01:06:13It's almost as if he just appeared out of nowhere
01:06:16He was the only one present during the accident
01:06:19That claimed Dr. Kim's life
01:06:21I don't want to jump to conclusions
01:06:23But I do wonder what his agenda truly is
01:06:27Regarding your question
01:06:28Unfortunately, there is nothing of value in Dr. Kim's lab
01:06:32Aside from Paul Serene's treatments and confidential files
01:06:36That would be of no use to your research

01:09:16Did he reveal the location of the countermeasure?
01:09:18You said you could get Jack out of there
01:09:20What happened?
01:09:22Interesting developments over here
01:09:24With the team focused on the university op
01:09:26I managed to dig through an old email correspondence between Paul Serene and Dr. Kim
01:09:31The content of the messages is very cryptic
01:09:34But before he died, Kim was running some kind of tests from his lab
01:09:39And William's research and a device related to this were somehow connected to what he was doing
01:09:44Did he know about the countermeasure?
01:09:47I think I need to get into Dr. Kim's lab and find out more
01:09:50But that place has been unrestricted access since he died
01:09:53Not a lot of choice though
01:09:55If Jack and William are in custody, then that lab may be our only lead left

01:11:14Sir, given the very recent events at the Dry Docks, I now see exactly what you mean
01:11:20Clearly, you were right about Burke's loyalties being more fickle than they appeared
01:11:26Of course, we have plenty of unanswered questions about how it came to this
01:11:30To begin with, I don't see why Burke would be involved with Joyce
01:11:35There's no way he did it out of some kind of an altruistic urge
01:11:39There has to be more to it
01:11:40We know Burke didn't divert Joyce's transport
01:11:44Since whereabouts at that time are accounted for
01:11:47So there has to be somebody else involved, too

01:12:09Clarice
01:12:10I understand why you consider Mr. Burke an asset to our future plans
01:12:15Unfortunately, while he is an exceptional individual
01:12:18He is less suitable for the kind of duties you have in mind than may be immediately obvious
01:12:24I'll explain
01:12:26Yes, he's been trained as a striker
01:12:28But Mr. Burke was disqualified
01:12:30And for good reason
01:12:32The men we have chosen to be strikers have strict physical requirements
01:12:37A certain moral flexibility
01:12:39And the kind of killer instinct you have to be born with
01:12:43Cultivated to a fine degree
01:12:44A ferocious knack for survival
01:12:47Mr. Burke certainly has those qualities
01:12:50He wasn't disqualified from the striker program because he lacked them
01:12:54Or because he couldn't wrap his head around the technical aspects of operating the technology
01:12:59In fact, his performance was exceptional
01:13:02So I fully agree with you that he's an impressive operative
01:13:06But strikers, by their very nature, have to be made aware of Project Lifeboat and its purpose
01:13:12At least on a general level
01:13:14And that means they have to be able to accept its implications
01:13:18Unfortunately, Mr. Burke has a deep attachment to his wife
01:13:22And the fact is that even if we brought Mr. Burke in
01:13:26That wouldn't guarantee a spot for her in the program
01:13:29To be blunt, we don't need any more nurses
01:13:33And we're already at capacity overall
01:13:35We need Mr. Burke
01:13:38But we don't need his wife
01:13:39Mr. Burke would never accept that
01:13:42Particularly now that Mrs. Burke is pregnant
01:13:45Therefore, it's vital that he doesn't understand the nature and scope of the threat we face
01:13:51As for having him play a role in other aspects of future developments
01:13:55I suspect that despite his seemingly amoral nature
01:13:59Mr. Burke may have other qualms he's not consciously aware of
01:14:03If he ever has to make a true choice between conflicting loyalties
01:14:08He may take a stand on principle
01:14:10And elect to act against his own best interests
01:14:13That's not a chance I'm willing to take

01:14:29Liam Burke's Status
01:14:31Sir
01:14:32I've been thinking about Liam Burke
01:14:35I know you've worked closely with him for a while now
01:14:38And he's been useful
01:14:39But there are assignments we can't use him for
01:14:42Because of his insufficient security clearance
01:14:44For instance, having to keep him in the dark
01:14:47About much of what will happen at the university
01:14:50About the stutters we're expecting
01:14:52About where it'll lead
01:14:54Makes him a far less effective field operative than I'd prefer
01:14:57And causes quite a bit of logistical difficulty
01:15:00Given that he's still going to be part of the operation
01:15:03And frankly, it feels like wasted potential
01:15:07I'd like you to consider the possibility of bringing Burke into the fold
01:15:11He's completed most of the striker training
01:15:14And even though he didn't finish the program
01:15:17He made an impression on me as a tremendously capable asset
01:15:20His service record is exemplary
01:15:23And he has a well-earned reputation as somebody who gets things done
01:15:27No questions asked
01:15:29By the same token, I would love to include Burke in our long-term plans
01:15:34We could use a man like him in our corner
01:15:37And I could deploy him far more effectively
01:15:40Let me know what you think
01:16:13Martin, first of all, I have to again register my objection
01:16:17What you are having me do under the guise of a psych evaluation
01:16:20Is a blatant violation of Liam Burke's doctor-patient confidentiality
01:16:24And the only reason I'm doing this
01:16:27Is because you leave me no other choice
01:16:28Now, I recognize that in the world to come
01:16:31Our current rules and legislation
01:16:33Even our standards of morality
01:16:35May no longer be applicable
01:16:37But we aren't there yet
01:16:39You and Mr. Serene are placing the long-term mental well-being
01:16:43Of hundreds of individuals in my hands
01:16:45And I'm telling you right now
01:16:47If they don't trust not only me
01:16:49But the system that put all of us in our particular positions
01:16:52There's no way we can recover from it
01:16:55On to Burke
01:16:56It is my considered professional opinion
01:16:59That the man is a bit of a powder keg
01:17:01For all his calm exterior, he's under tremendous pressure
01:17:04I understand your reasoning for pulling him out of the striker program
01:17:08But what you have essentially done is instill in him a sense of encroaching doom
01:17:13He doesn't know the specifics, obviously
01:17:16He didn't make it far enough in the program to be briefed on that
01:17:19But he knows that we are preparing for a future threat that is somehow related to the flow of time
01:17:24being interrupted
01:17:25And that there are dangers out there
01:17:27Dangers that we have specifically been training the striker units for
01:17:31There are men who are content to merely follow orders and let others worry about the consequences
01:17:37Burke is not one of them
01:17:39He is willing to commit acts of violence without asking why
01:17:43But don't mistake that lack of qualms for blind obedience
01:17:46Burke needs agency
01:17:48He has a fundamental need to feel in control of his life
01:17:51And you have put him in a position where that's no longer possible for him
01:17:55He's good at seeing patterns and drawing accurate conclusions from the facts available to him
01:18:01And he has deduced, quite correctly, that he was being trained for a specific scenario that Monarch believes will happen
01:18:08He is also painfully aware of the fact that if and when that scenario arrives
01:18:13He will not be a part of the solution
01:18:15He understands the nature of the striker suits
01:18:18That they are only useful in a zero-state situation
01:18:21And he understands that in such a situation
01:18:24A man without a striker suit is essentially dead
01:18:28He doesn't know about the lifeboat protocol, obviously
01:18:31But if he did, he'd then also know he's not a part of it
01:18:35Either way, the bottom line is that he's in a hopeless situation
01:18:39He fears that the end of the world is coming
01:18:41And he knows that if it does, the only way he could survive is with the technology Monarch has denied
01:18:47him access to
01:18:48He doesn't understand the details, or even the exact nature, of that end of the world
01:18:53But that just makes it worse
01:18:55Fear and lack of understanding breed tremendous anxiety, Mr. Hatch
01:19:00He may not show it, but believe me, Burke feels it for himself, and for his family
01:19:05It may interest you to know that his wife is pregnant
01:19:08You can understand how that adds to the pressure
01:19:11To be honest, given the parameters we're operating under, I don't know how to resolve this
01:19:16In Burke, you have a tremendously efficient operative, but you've put him in an impossible position
01:19:22I believe he will remain effective as long as he has reason to believe the scenario he fears is imminent
01:19:28But once he believes it has arrived, all bets are off
01:19:32That is, unless you can give him hope of survival
01:19:35But at this point, resentment and suspicion are starting to turn into paranoia
01:19:39And frankly, I'm not sure he would trust either of us
01:19:44And speaking of trust, I recommend you think about what I said in my opening paragraph, Martin
01:19:49Our greatest challenge and greatest assets in the subjective years to come
01:19:54Won't be technological, but all too human
01:19:57Don't make the mistake seeing people as just entries on a spreadsheet

01:20:15From Charlie Wincott, Amy Ferraro
01:20:19To Ground Zero Okol
01:20:22What up, fools?
01:20:24So, I looked up Amy Ferraro
01:20:26She checks out pretty much how you'd expect
01:20:29Good grades
01:20:31No student loans because daddy's got money
01:20:33Popular
01:20:34The classic, I'm better than you because I care so much package
01:20:38Not studying anything even remotely useful in a world where you gotta work for a living
01:20:44She's into this whole activist lifestyle
01:20:47Always protesting this or that
01:20:50And generally just hugging every tree and saving every whale she sees
01:20:54Yawn
01:20:56On average, she signs two petitions a week
01:20:59And generally spends half her life sticking her nose in other people's shit
01:21:04Credit where it's due, she's pretty good at it
01:21:07Also, she's got a lot of friends who are all into this stuff
01:21:10And she seems to be real good at getting them coordinated
01:21:14Kind of makes her perfect for our purposes
01:21:16Cause if you can talk her into saying what we want
01:21:19There's a lot of folks who are going to listen
01:21:22No boyfriend or girlfriend
01:21:24I don't know which way she swings
01:21:26Why doesn't she put that on the internet?
01:21:28Doesn't she know that's what it's for?
01:21:30But there's that family of hers
01:21:32Looks like she's got real close ties
01:21:35So if we need leverage, that's where you'll find it
01:21:38You may want to make sure she stays on our side though
01:21:41Like I said, she's pretty popular with the rest of these people
01:21:45And if they get the idea she's been screwed over
01:21:47They just might get pretty mad
01:21:49You know how these neo-hippie, bleeding heart hipster types are
01:21:53Always up in arms about something
01:21:56Holy shit, I'm glad I'm not in school anymore
01:22:00Charlie
01:22:20Sir
01:22:23Pa
01:22:24Stop! I'm back, dammit!
01:22:28Don't
