00:06:53government
00:06:54but i think we can get around it i brought back some big traps and nets suppose you give them
00:07:01to
00:07:01your indians and we'll share the problems you know better than ask me to do that man
00:07:07government regulations only allow us to fish with a harpoon maybe a small net once in a while
00:07:13commercial fishing's out
00:07:18you could fix this place up fine with a little more money pete i like it the way it is
00:07:45i didn't know you were back
00:07:56i just got in this minute jane i was looking for you oh matt how i've missed you but i'm
00:08:02never

00:08:08well it's all right with me want to spend a nice quiet honeymoon in jail
00:08:14in jail yeah you know how the salmon runs been this year i made a deal for salmon i can't
00:08:21deliver
00:08:21but they can't put you in jail for that oh yes they can i took a large cash advance they
00:08:26may call it
00:08:27obtaining money under false pretenses how much salmon do you need matt more than i can catch the rest of
00:08:33this season maybe you won't stop catching you know jane i'm beginning to feel i made a mistake staying
00:08:40away so long
00:08:48so
00:08:54so
00:08:57so
00:08:58so
00:09:19Come on, come on, you're not pulling up daisies.
00:09:22What's the matter with you, tiny?
00:09:24Got a bad arm?
00:09:25Oh, I got a bad head this morning.
00:09:27Yeah, you'd better lay off that hair tonic.
00:09:30Look at those babies jump.
00:09:32Pretty as a ballet and as big as whales.
00:09:35What are you so excited about?
00:09:36You're supposed to be in Seattle.
00:09:38That's where I'm going to be in one week from today.
00:09:40That's where I'm going to be, too.
00:09:42Today, I'll meet you at the Diamond Dance, third block from the right.
00:09:46Come on, come on, you guys, holler up.
00:09:49Remember that cannery cruise right on our tail.
00:10:12Better get over to the bunkhouse right away and have Sully look at that hand.
00:10:21He mashed his hand.
00:10:22One of my best men, too.
00:10:23Sure makes me sure to help.
00:10:25That's tough with the salmon running the way they are.
00:10:27Yeah.
00:10:28Say, why can't we close the cannery down and use the crew?
00:10:31Might just as well take advantage of the run.
00:10:33Boy, I'd sure like to get this day over with.
00:10:35Awful anxious to get out, aren't you?
00:10:37You can say that again.
00:10:38And I'm not the only one who's anxious.
00:10:40My whole crew can't wait till tomorrow.
00:10:41That back pay sure burns a hole in your pocket, don't it?
00:10:44It sure does, and it's a nice feeling, too.
00:10:47And while we're on the subject, Matt, I want you to get this straight.
00:10:49I'm packing and leaving for Sitka tomorrow morning.
00:10:52And this time, there won't be any cleanup for Garren's or any of your other excuses.
00:10:55Okay, we're only wasting time talking about it.
00:10:58Suppose Moose and I give you a hand at the trap.
00:11:00Okay, hop in.
00:11:38I'm packing and leaving for Garren's or any of your other excuses.
00:11:56Look out!
00:11:57Go, go, go, go!
00:12:16The End
00:12:50That ought to hold him
00:12:51How is he, Salty?
00:12:53Sure looks like he's busted a couple of ribs
00:12:56Might be bleeding inside, too
00:12:59You'd better send a Sitka for a doctor
00:13:01Why? Ain't I good enough for you?
00:13:04I've been taking care of busted heads and ribs since before you was born
00:13:08Many of the time I've sawed a leg off on a mess table with my clasp knife
00:13:14In a raging gale, too
00:13:15Sure, sure, Salty, you know your stuff
00:13:19But if Matt's bleeding internally, he needs an M.D.
00:13:22Matt's tougher than a sea lion, he'll be all right
00:13:25Just give him an aspirin and a dose of salt
00:13:28That's all them M.D.s ever prescribed
00:13:37How do you feel now, Matt?
00:13:39Pretty bad
00:13:41Why don't you worry about me?
00:13:44You'd better get back to the crew
00:13:47I hate to leave you alone, Matt
00:13:49I'll send one of the Indians in
00:13:50No, never mind
00:13:52I'll be all right
00:13:55You're not running off to Seattle now, are you, Bill?
00:13:58No, I'll wait until the doctor arrives and see what he says
00:14:01Thanks
00:14:04You'll have to take over the cannery, too
00:14:06Okay, I'll get over there as soon as the season closes tonight
00:14:10The fishing season isn't closing for us this year
00:14:14What do you mean?
00:14:15I made a deal with Pete
00:14:16To buy all the salmon as Indians catch
00:14:19But you couldn't feed a dog team on that
00:14:21Maybe yes, maybe no
00:14:24Let's see how it works out
00:14:28Anyway, don't say anything about it
00:14:30Why not?
00:14:32I don't want the government fish patrol asking questions
00:14:35The Indians are allowed to fish for all the salmon they want, out of season
00:14:39I know
00:14:40They're going to do an awful lot of fishing
00:14:43Is that what you had in mind when I met you at the dock?
00:14:46What's wrong with it?
00:14:48If there wasn't something wrong with it, you wouldn't want to keep it a secret
00:14:52Let's not argue about it now
00:15:03How is he?
00:15:04How's Matt?
00:15:05I don't know
00:15:11Matt
00:15:18Are you hurt, Matt?
00:15:19No
00:15:20But that's what I want him to think
00:15:22Gives me a good alibi and keeps Bill in line
00:15:25I get a couple of sore ribs
00:15:28That isn't going to stop us from going ahead with our deal
00:15:32You're pretty smart
00:15:33And you're pretty good looking
00:15:50Keep it going
00:15:53You know that's illegal
00:15:55So what?
00:15:56We've only got a couple of hours left
00:15:57Douse that light, Moose
00:15:59It's behind on our quarter, you know
00:16:01Anyway, we're not the only ones fishing with the light
00:16:03What do you call them, fireflies?
00:16:06You know as well as I do
00:16:07Indians are allowed to fish with the light
00:16:09Now douse it
00:16:23There's nothing like a hot cup of java just before you hit the sack
00:16:27Come on boys, come and get it
00:16:30It's on the house
00:16:32There you are, fill them up boys, fill them up
00:16:34Oh, it's hot, it's red hot
00:16:35It's hot
00:16:36Yes, it's hot
00:16:40Yes, it's hot
00:16:42For me once, only
00:16:43Oh, hello, Moose
00:16:44You don't have to hint, Moose
00:16:46Here, you take this
00:16:49Come on, it's hot, oh boy, it's hot
00:16:54There you are, fill them up
00:16:56All set
00:17:07How'd we do
00:17:09We caught a lot of fish, but we didn't make the quarter
00:17:12We'll make the quarter
00:17:13Matt tell you what we're planning on
00:17:16I'm not interested
00:17:17I told Matt I'd stay up here until they can't up the catch
00:17:19Then I'm heading south
00:17:21I'm packing the first thing in the morning, myself
00:17:23Yeah, me too
00:17:25I'm going to Seattle and get me the best room and the best hotel
00:17:28Better go to a Turkish bath first and get your barnacle scraped off
00:17:32And then I'm going to get me a new outfit
00:17:34A real fancy meal
00:17:37And go looking for trouble
00:17:41What are you trying to start, Mutiny?
00:17:43We need these men for the cannery
00:17:45They pull out, we'll never get another crew
00:17:47The season's over
00:17:48I told you I'm not interested
00:17:56Reports are coming in to know him that a new gold field is opening up north of Fairbanks on Birch
00:18:00Creek
00:18:01Which is one of the subsidi...
00:18:05What's the matter?
00:18:06Your brother's the matter
00:18:08He's pulling out as soon as the salmon are packed
00:18:11Maybe it'd be better if he does
00:18:13He's not going to stand for what we've got in mind
00:18:16Okay, let him go
00:18:17But if he goes, the whole crew goes
00:18:19And you'll have to shut down the cannery
00:18:21How do you know that?
00:18:22Those guys have got a lot of dough piled up
00:18:24And after your brother got through shooting off his mouth
00:18:27All they've got on their mind is Seattle
00:18:30You figure if Bill stays, they will too?
00:18:33Sure, they all think he's a big shot
00:18:35He can talk them into anything
00:18:43Then we've got to keep him here
00:18:46That's a neat trick if you can do it
00:18:48But you can't do it with talk
00:18:49Not this time
00:18:50You can't tie him to the cannery
00:18:52No
00:18:54But a good-looking girl might make him change his mind
00:18:57Ain't a good-looking dame this side of Seattle
00:18:59You're right there, Moose
00:19:01But I've got a gal in Seattle who's got a lot of charm
00:19:09I want you to send this wire to Seattle right away
00:19:30Come in, Helen, please
00:19:34Yes, Miss Reed
00:19:36I have to fly to Sitka, Helen
00:19:38It's urgent
00:19:38Get out in the first plane you can
00:19:40Right away
00:19:41And I want to send a wire to Matt Garroway
00:19:44Chilkat, Alaska
00:20:05Why, there isn't a darn thing the matter with you, Matt
00:20:07Except a couple of bruised ribs
00:20:11You can get out of bed right now
00:20:13Instead of lying there like an old lady with a palsy
00:20:16Just wanted to make sure, Doc
00:20:21Dragging me up here all the way from Sitka
00:20:24Why, I've got patients needing me there who are really sick
00:20:28Doc got out of bed the wrong side today
00:20:33A fella like you, folding up like a fainting woman
00:20:38All you need is an aspirin and a dose of salt
00:20:47Get him on his way before Bill sees him
00:21:11Has the doctor been here yet?
00:21:13He just left
00:21:15What's he say about Matt?
00:21:16Matt will tell you himself, he wants to see you
00:21:22Hi, Junior
00:21:23Hi
00:21:24What did the doctor say?
00:21:26Looks like a long pull, Bill
00:21:28Says I'm busted up inside
00:21:31That's tough
00:21:32But it's okay, you can still go to Seattle
00:21:35I got a nurse coming up to take care of me
00:21:42Hmm
00:21:43Pretty chummy nurse
00:21:44Who's Laura?
00:21:45The girl I met in Seattle
00:21:46What's she coming up here for?
00:21:49Prepare yourself for a shot, Bill
00:21:51I'm getting married
00:21:53Well, aren't you going to congratulate me?
00:21:57Aren't you forgetting something, Matt?
00:21:59What?
00:21:59Jane
00:22:00Jane
00:22:00She's not going to like your marrying someone else
00:22:02Jane
00:22:03Should have more sense than to think I'd marry a half-breed
00:22:07Anyway, what can she do about it?
00:22:09Nothing much
00:22:11Just kill you
00:22:13You let me worry about that
00:22:15I want you to go down to Sitka and meet Laura
00:22:17Me?
00:22:18What about the cannery?
00:22:20Most can handle it
00:22:20You won't be gone forever
00:22:23But you want to meet your future sister-in-law?
00:22:25You won't mind
00:22:26She's not bad
00:22:28Not half bad
00:22:40Nice of you boys to drop in
00:22:41Where have you been?
00:22:42We had to get that tape off
00:22:44So he could get his clothes on
00:22:45The doc had me wrapped up like an Egyptian mummy
00:22:47I think he was getting even
00:22:49Who's in the boat?
00:22:50Joe
00:22:50Joe Taku
00:22:51You know him
00:22:53He loves me too
00:22:54Remember?
00:22:55Poor guy
00:22:56Well, it really is blind
00:22:57You got all the nets in the boat?
00:22:59Yes, everything's ready
00:23:00Let's go
00:23:44Wait a minute
00:23:49I think I hear a motor
00:23:53She's right
00:23:59It's the police patrol
00:24:01You know what to do
00:24:33Hello, Inspector Winters
00:24:35Hello, Jane
00:24:36Hello, Joe
00:24:37Hello, Inspector
00:24:39Fishing pretty late, aren't you, Jane?
00:24:41We thought we could get a better haul
00:24:43Using a light with these harpoons
00:24:46Isn't that Matt Garroway's boat?
00:24:49Yes
00:24:50We have his permission
00:24:52I'm not questioning that
00:24:54I can't say I'm crazy about you using a light
00:24:59That's my privilege, Inspector
00:25:18All right, Matt
00:25:25He won't bother us again
00:25:26Maybe not
00:25:27But we better work fast
00:25:35Matt
00:25:36Aren't you afraid they'll see this net in the morning?
00:25:38Not this net
00:25:39It's got special weights on it
00:25:40To keep the floats under the surface
00:25:42You think of everything
00:25:43Sure
00:25:44When I can keep my mind on my world
00:25:48Let's go
00:25:48Pull me and go
00:26:02I'm sorry
00:26:09Let's go
00:26:32thank you excuse me are you Laura Reed yes anything wrong no no
00:26:39I just thought that go ahead say it you thought I'd be an old walrus oh no you must be
00:26:45the baby brother

00:26:53in bed
00:26:53but he'll live he was pretty badly hurt wasn't he I guess so the car is down here
00:27:07Matt certainly didn't exaggerate this is beautiful country yeah summers aren't bad
00:27:13but once you get snow bombed you lose your enthusiasm now I know what's the matter with
00:27:19you Bill what you're snowbound
00:27:31you better not wake him I'll come back later Laura hello Matt darling are you all right
00:27:42I am now baby anybody who wouldn't get well with you for a nurse doesn't deserve to live
00:27:48I'll see you two later now wait a minute Bill I'll rush off you've got to help Laura get settled
00:27:55oh that's all right I'll manage well you're not a big executive up here you know you don't know
00:28:00your way around give us a chance to be big shots all right I had the natives clean up that
00:28:06cabin
00:28:06near the cannery for Laura you better hire one of the Indian women to take care of the place for
00:28:11her okay I'll have her things moved in right away I'll be back what's the matter with him
00:28:18he's certainly been acting strangely for a brother oh he feels abused he wants to go to Seattle and
00:28:24Kent because I need him here at the canner a little childish sure all he wants is fun no sense
00:28:30of
00:28:31responsibility if I were on my feet I'd let him go in a minute but I can't run the cannery
00:28:36from a
00:28:36bed it's the most selfish attitude I've ever heard I have a good mind to tell him so too I
00:28:41don't think
00:28:42it'd make any difference to him we'll see now let me fix you some breakfast did you get any sleep

00:39:25see she belongs to Bill not Matt
00:39:33there's one of our very best totem poles please notice it not only has a high man it has a
00:39:39low
00:39:39man too well fully equipped very impressive yes and the Indians take the totem poles very seriously every
00:39:48summer before the fishing season starts they dance pray around invoking the gods to send them plenty of
00:39:54salmon and the gods never fail them you know it's a strange thing about salmon they're one of life's
00:40:01great mysteries they're born miles from the sea on the shallow bottom of a river they fight the way to
00:40:08sea and disappear completely for three or four years then in the early summer when they've completed their
00:40:15life cycle they swarm back toward the rivers in millions that's when we're permitted to catch them
00:40:20with nets with fishing traps with hook and line but a lot of the salmon get away which is a
00:40:31good
00:40:31thing or there wouldn't be any salmon eggs they put up a terrific battle on their way to spawn they
00:40:39don't even stop to eat or rest finally they reach the very same river bottom where they themselves were
00:40:45spawned they dig a hole in the sand with their tails then they spawn and die do I sound like
00:40:55a professor
00:40:57sound like a man who knows what he's talking about you're really sold on all this aren't you Bill I
00:41:03suppose I am but you can get too much of a good thing and now that the season's closed I
00:41:09apparently isn't
00:41:11closed for some people Indians the fishing season's never closed for them that's how Matt's getting
00:41:19all these fish now isn't it so he says don't you believe him sometimes he's very hard to believe
00:41:28I just don't understand your attitude toward him Bill the way you talk about him or anyone would think
00:41:35you were enemies instead of brothers could be except that he never lets me forget that I'm his
00:41:40brother but I don't understand I guess I should mind my own business well I think I'll get some of
00:41:51that shut-eye I've been talking about I'll show you back to your cabin oh don't bother I'm in no

00:42:13crew working much longer can't Bill keep them quiet maybe so but he's not trying very hard okay
00:42:21let's make one last big haul suppose we tow some of the salmon traps down to the channel tonight
00:42:26that's too dangerous Matt I know but the way the fish are running those traps will be filled by dawn
00:42:31and then we can tow them back tell Jane the stooge to stand by I'll meet you at the cannery
00:42:36slip right

00:44:49but we're gonna get it
00:44:49pretty much
00:44:49we're gonna throw up
00:44:49the
00:45:05the
00:45:15is
00:45:19Who is it?
00:45:20Moose.
00:45:24Morning, Matt.
00:45:26Just getting myself some real grub before Laura gets here.
00:45:29I'll give you some of that myself.
00:45:34Pour it.
00:45:37I think we're gonna have company.
00:45:39Inspector Winters is down in the village.
00:45:42He just brought Joe's body into the natives.
00:45:44Did you get rid of the gun?
00:45:46Yeah, it's at the bottom of the channel.
00:45:50That hot-headed dame, she's really got us in a jam.
00:45:55Winters can't probe anything.
00:45:57We don't get panicky.
00:46:07I'd better get into bed.
00:46:09You open it.
00:46:17Oh, come in, Inspector. Come in.
00:46:20Morning, Moose.
00:46:21Morning.
00:46:23How are you feeling today?
00:46:24Fine. I'll be on my feet in no time.
00:46:26Morning.
00:46:35Morning.
00:46:37It's kind of confining, staying in bed.
00:46:40You mind have a look over your guns, Matt?
00:46:42Go right ahead, Inspector.
00:46:44All I've got is a shotgun.
00:46:53To me, you used to have a rifle.
00:46:55Yeah, but I sold it.
00:46:56Didn't have much use for it.
00:46:59I guess you heard about the accident that happened to Joe Taku.
00:47:05Moose was just telling me.
00:47:16Good morning.
00:47:17Funny thing.
00:47:17We found one of your new floating traps down by the channel.
00:47:21You did?
00:47:22The coaches must have got a hold of it.
00:47:24That's what I figured.
00:47:27Well, I won't interrupt you boys at your breakfast.
00:47:34See you later.
00:47:41Quite a backlog of salmon.
00:47:42Yeah.
00:47:43They're the only cannery working this late.
00:47:45Yeah, Matt made a deal with the Indians.
00:47:48I figured as much.
00:47:50It's too bad you couldn't have gotten a hold of that trap
00:47:52that we towed away last night.
00:47:53It was full of salmon.
00:47:54Yeah?
00:47:55But they're all back in the channel now.
00:47:57No.
00:47:59Any idea who shot Joe?
00:48:03No.
00:48:04But I will have as soon as I know who he's working for.
00:48:07By the way, we'll have to hold on to that trap for evidence.
00:48:10If you don't mind.
00:48:11No, hold it as long as you want.
00:48:13Matt won't need it until next July.
00:48:15I'm sure he won't.
00:48:16Well, much obliged.
00:48:17I'll see you later.
00:48:50I thought Lemon weren't allowed to watch this ceremony.
00:48:58The Indians must have thought a lot of Joe to put on this death ritual for him.
00:49:03They did.
00:49:06He was in love with you, wasn't he?
00:49:09Yes.
00:49:11He was.
00:49:13Too bad.
00:49:15Nice boy, Joe.
00:49:21Any idea why he was on that trap when he was shot?
00:49:26No.
00:49:28Not very talkative today, are you, Jang?
00:49:35You know, it's a rather strange coincidence that you and Joe should have been on Matt's launch one night.
00:49:42And he should have been shot on Matt's fishing trap the other night.
00:49:48Isn't it?
00:49:51I told you Matt gave us his permission.
00:49:55I don't know anything about the salmon trap.
00:49:58Too bad.
00:49:59I was hoping you'd give me a lead.
00:50:03Well.
00:50:04See you around.
00:50:12You've made a fool out of me long enough.
00:50:14I don't think you're on the level about the salmon, and I don't think you're as sick as...
00:50:18Well, Damon and Perthius, what's wrong now?
00:50:21Matt's all wrong.
00:50:22And before he's through, he'll pull us down with him.
00:50:26Bill's hot-headed as usual.
00:50:29Jumping to conclusions.
00:50:31What conclusions?
00:50:32The inspector from the fish patrol was around checking on the death of that Indian.
00:50:36Bill accuses me of fish piracy and murder.
00:50:38Murder?
00:50:39His own brother?
00:50:41Oh, this is ridiculous.
00:50:51Bill.
00:50:52Listen, Bill.
00:50:53It's perfectly all right with me if you refuse to grow up.
00:50:55But accusing your own brother of murder is fantastic.
00:50:58Why don't you leave him alone?
00:51:01I intend to.
00:51:02All alone.
00:51:03I'm leaving right away.
00:51:04I'm not surprised.
00:51:05That's typical of you.
00:51:06And just when he needs your help.
00:51:09Maybe it's just as well, considering the help you've been.
00:51:12Matt can help himself.
00:51:13He's not as sick as the ax, and if you weren't so blind, you'd see it.
00:51:17If you want the truth, I'll tell you.
00:51:19Matt's taking advance money from a wholesale house in Seattle to deliver salmon.
00:51:23I know all about that.
00:51:25I arranged the loan.
00:51:26Well, good for you.
00:51:28That makes you an accessory.
00:51:30But what you don't know is, he can't deliver that salmon legally.
00:51:34He tried to bribe Pete to make his Indians use illegal traps.
00:51:37Pete wouldn't go for that.
00:51:39Now I'll bet my life Matt and Moose have somebody else doing it.
00:51:41I don't believe it.
00:51:43You're just running Matt down because he's smarter than you.
00:51:45I'm more of a gentleman, too, I might add.
00:51:47All right, if you're so sold on him, why don't you marry him right away?
00:51:50What are you waiting for?
00:51:52Set the date.
00:51:53He's all yours and you can have him.
00:52:04Hello, Laura.
00:52:05This is Jane Costa, Laura Reed.
00:52:08Oh, yes, I met your brother the other day.
00:52:11I just talked to Bill and he wants to leave.
00:52:14I wish you'd set our wedding date right away.
00:52:17Don't let him worry, Laura.
00:52:19He always was bullheaded.
00:52:20Sure, I'll set the wedding date and I'll make Bill keep his promise, too.
00:52:27I wish you a lot of happiness.
00:52:30I've got to leave now.
00:52:32Goodbye.
00:52:33Goodbye.
00:52:37She's very nice, isn't she?
00:52:39Yeah, good kid.
00:52:41She just dropped by to see how I was.
00:52:45Matt, I think you ought to forget about making Bill keep his promise.
00:52:48He's determined to leave and I don't think you ought to stop him.
00:52:52Why not?
00:52:53Oh, because of what he thinks and has been saying about you.
00:52:56Well, I know they're not true, but he's liable to get you into trouble.
00:53:00What things?
00:53:02Just what he told you.
00:53:04That you've taken money for salmon you can't deliver and that you're involved in fish piracy and murder.
00:53:10Let him go.
00:53:11I'll get out of bed and run the cannery myself.
00:53:13But you shouldn't, Matt, not yet.
00:53:15I haven't any choice.
00:53:18Anyway, I'm getting better quicker than you think.
00:53:23What's the matter, baby?
00:53:26Nothing, I...
00:53:28I guess I'm just upset about...
00:53:50What's the matter?
00:53:50Gosh, you certainly are lucky, aren't you?
00:54:04Hello.
00:54:07How old is he?
00:54:08Eight years old today.
00:54:10Today?
00:54:11Well, then we'll have to do something about a birthday party.
00:54:14Hello, Jane.
00:54:16May I have this cake and some birthday candles?
00:54:19The little boy, he's eight years old today.
00:54:21That's nice of you.
00:54:38There.
00:54:40How much is that?
00:54:42Nothing.
00:54:43Oh, but please, I just...
00:54:45Forget it, Miss Reed.
00:54:47That's very sweet of you.
00:54:48Thanks a minute.
00:54:49Good morning.
00:54:55Now, close your eyes, make a wish, take a deep breath, and blow.
00:55:01Blow hard.
00:55:03That's right.
00:55:04Now your wish will come true.
00:55:09Go ahead.
00:55:10Eat it.
00:55:11Good morning, sir.
00:55:24And I thought I'd seen practically everything.
00:55:30I guess you're happy to be getting married soon.
00:55:33Why, yes.
00:55:34Yes, I am.
00:55:36Don't worry about Bill.
00:55:37He's young.
00:55:38He fights with Matt sometimes.
00:55:40But he's a good boy.
00:55:42I won't have a chance to do much worrying about him.
00:55:44He's going away.
00:55:45Won't even be here for the wedding.
00:55:47What are you talking about?
00:55:49How can you marry him if he won't be here for the wedding?
00:55:52Marry Bill?
00:55:54Well, it isn't Bill I'm marrying.
00:55:56It's Matt.
00:55:58Matt?
00:55:59Why, yes.
00:56:02You must have the brothers mixed up.
00:56:04Yes.
00:56:07Yes, I did.
00:56:10The sooner he gets out of here, the better I'll like it.
00:56:13You take over the cannery.
00:56:14Sure.
00:56:15You know I can't keep that crew on the job.
00:56:17They won't listen to me.
00:56:18Well, make them listen.
00:56:20And what's more, we're going out for one more haul.
00:56:23Are you crazy after what happened?
00:56:25There'll be patrol boats all over that channel.
00:56:27We'll use the nets like we did the first time.
00:56:29We've got to do it and most of we'll lose the whole works.
00:56:31We still haven't got enough cases to ship
00:56:33and that wholesale house will be clamping down on us any minute.
00:56:35Well, if the fish patrol catches us, we'll lose more than the cannery.
00:56:39We've got to take the chance.
00:56:41We'll use Jane as a cover up again.
00:56:42Tell her we're going out tonight.
00:56:43All right.
00:57:02You're making me dizzy, Bill.
00:57:04You're worse than a waltz and mouse.
00:57:07Come on over and have a cup of a jacket.
00:57:08No, thanks, Sully.
00:57:32Let's see.
00:57:33Laura.
00:57:35I...
00:57:36I guess you think I'm a heel.
00:57:41Do you care what I think?
00:57:42You know that I do.
00:57:44Have you and Matt set the date?
00:57:45Yes.
00:57:47Early next week.
00:57:49You could send us a wedding present from Seattle.
00:57:52I carry a pigeon.
00:57:54Regardless of my actions, Laura.
00:57:57All the luck in the world to you both.
00:57:59Thanks.
00:57:59You know, I kind of wish it had been an old walrus I had met at the plane that day.
00:58:04Why?
00:58:06Well, then I wouldn't be feeling the way I feel now.
00:58:10Bill.
00:58:11It's a funny thing.
00:58:13For the past three years, I've been beefing about getting to Seattle.
00:58:17Now that I'm going, I've lost interest.
00:58:22Why?
00:58:23You'll have lots of fun.
00:58:25There'll be cafes and people to amuse you.
00:58:29Girls.
00:58:30You won't be there.
00:58:35I'll be leaving early in the morning.
00:58:37So...
00:58:38Goodbye.
00:58:40Let's not say goodbye.
00:58:42Maybe you'll come and see us next year.
00:58:45Maybe.
00:59:05Good girl.
00:59:06We'll need those to pull the patrol.
00:59:10Here's the camera.
00:59:13Okay, we're all set.
00:59:14Let's go.
00:59:17You're pretty spry for an invalid.
00:59:26All right, so you caught me.
00:59:28What difference does it make to you?
00:59:29You're clearing out anyway.
00:59:30It might not make any difference to me, but it'll sure make a difference to Laura.
00:59:34Shut up.
00:59:34So you were too sick to get out of bed.
00:59:37Making a fool out of me and all the men.
00:59:39Get out of here.
00:59:39I haven't got time to listen to you.
00:59:40Worse than that, you made a sap out of Laura.
00:59:43Bringing her up here and telling her you're going to marry her.
01:00:05Stay out of this. It's between Bill and me.
01:00:12Oh, my ribs.
01:00:23Let's go.
01:00:24Heavy, all right? Let's go.
01:00:24Let's go.
01:00:43The next course.
01:00:48Right here.
01:00:56I don't see how you got her all snarled up like that.
01:01:00I'll have to go over the side.
01:01:18Bill forgot to tell you something, Matt.
01:01:19I forgot to tell you you made a fool out of me, too.
01:01:26Oh, wait a minute, Jane.
01:01:28Bill was lying.
01:01:29You were lying.
01:01:30But you'll never marry that woman.
01:01:38What happened?
01:02:02I know how a salmon feels when it's harpooned.
01:02:06We sent to Sitka for a doctor.
01:02:10He won't be in any hurry.
01:02:13I fooled him once before.
01:02:18You know, Laura, you and Bill belong together.
01:02:21You know, I've felt it all the time.
01:02:26The only thing is, I won't be around.
01:02:29Beat him up, he doesn't behave himself.
01:02:32You know, Bill.
01:02:42Skip it, Bill.
01:02:46I want to talk to Jane.
01:02:48Alone.
01:03:08I won't help, Jane.
01:03:13I'm not sorry.
01:03:16After all, I did double-cross you.
01:03:19Oh, man.
01:03:22I love you.
01:03:26We're a couple of bad ones, Jane.
01:03:30Probably meant for each other.
01:03:33But it's too late now.
01:03:38Maybe I wasn't pretty smart.
01:03:43But you're still pretty good-looking.
01:04:07Maybe I did not.
01:04:10Maybe it's too late after the moment.
01:04:11I said, you have a wit.
01:04:12If you ever move, I won't be able to go away.
01:04:13There's no money.
01:04:14You've been soudiant to Agu.
01:04:14You've been soudiant to powerful.
01:04:17You know, you've been soudiant and it's too late now.
01:04:17You've been soudiant to be aγγ plan.
01:04:17You've been soudiant to go away,
01:04:19because you've been soudiant and I'm too late.
01:04:19You've been soudiant to come down now.
01:04:21I've been soudiant on the site.
01:04:23You've been soudiant to have some new things.
01:04:34Matt said that he shot Joe Taku, told me where to find the gun.
01:04:40He didn't do it, did he?
01:04:44I thought not.
01:04:46The police are waiting me out to boat landing with moose.
01:04:49Come on.
01:04:54Just drop by to say goodbye, Pete.
01:04:56You come back next year?
01:04:58Yes, we'll be back.
01:05:00Well, I think maybe Matt would have liked it that way.
01:05:03Pleasant voyage to you.
01:05:04Goodbye, Pete.
01:05:05Goodbye.
01:05:05So long, Pete.
01:05:06Goodbye.
01:05:36You remember when you
01:05:38You told me I was a snow bomb?
01:05:40Yes.
01:05:41Spring is here.
