Frank The Tank | Frank Walks
Transcript
00:00All right, here's a special episode of Frank Walks.
00:04You know, recently I was joined by a group of fans as we walked over to Brooklyn Bridge for my
00:101,000th consecutive day.
00:12And you know, of course, I had my no bull shoes on, and it was an easy walk on Father's
00:18Day, and it was a great day.
00:20Let's take a look.
00:21And I think when you had that fever, and you showed up to the Nutley St. Patrick's Day Parade,
00:28and they sent your ass home, and then still walked in the rain, that's when I knew.
00:33It's like, this isn't, this is not a fad.
00:36This is not going anywhere.
00:37Frank Walks, Frank Walks, it's time for Frank Walks.
00:43Frank talks while Frank Walks, it's time for Frank Walks.
00:53All right, you guys ready for a nice little walk?
00:57I don't know where we're going to stop, but let's get ready.
01:02Let's walk 1,000, starting in September 2023.
01:10And I've been, I've walked Grand Canyon, I've walked the Vegas Strip,
01:17I've walked by Motor Gate Park, now we're going to walk over to Brooklyn Bridge.
01:22So, let's go, as we head to Manhattan, and let's see where we stop.
01:27Between, like, maybe Strawberry, Schwarzenegger, or maybe somebody else,
01:32who was maybe, like, a white whale for you, or somebody that you were, it was surreal.
01:38Well, getting Strawberry and Good were obviously tremendous.
01:41JJ Watt, of course, started it.
01:44You know, Mike and the Mad Dog were good walks, you know, those were, like, notable ones, you know.
01:49And we had, we still have a lot of white whales out there.
01:52Okay.
01:53We still have a lot of white whales.
01:54You want to shout one out right now?
01:56Martin Brodeur, Mike Piazza.
01:58I mean, these are guys that have been really great walks, I think.
02:03Frank, do you ever think about how many people you're affecting
02:07when they see you at one point couldn't walk 100 feet without being totally out of breath?
02:13Felt like you couldn't do anything.
02:14You know, you were so limited in every aspect of your life.
02:18And now you're, like, a kid running around doing whatever the hell you want, like, reborn.
02:23Do you know how much that's inspiring people?
02:26I see it. I see it.
02:27Yeah, we got Don, we got Aaron, you know, these guys always talking about it.
02:33Dan, you know, all these guys.
02:35And it's incredible, I think.
02:37Ten years ago when I was 530, I would have, you know, I just didn't care.
02:43Yeah.
02:44I didn't care.
02:46I remember you tweeted, somebody tweeted at you that you should stop drinking soda.
02:52And you were like, it's one of the only things I enjoy, I'll just die.
02:56That was a dark tweet, Frank.
02:58It's like in the Hall of Fame now that you're healthy.
03:00But my God, that was dark.
03:01That kind of represents where your head was, right?
03:03Yes, it was.
03:05Join walk 1,000 with Frank Fleming, Frank the Tank.
03:091,000 straight days.
03:12What do you think was our hardest walk, Frank?
03:14Hardest?
03:15For me, I think it was the Hoover Dam.
03:17Remember how hot it was at the Hoover Dam?
03:22I would say it was that night walk.
03:25The night in the woods in Ohio?
03:26Yes.
03:28That was another moment in time when I was like, yeah, this guy's a freaking lunatic and
03:34this streak is never going to end.
03:37Frank, once we get up here, you actually need to slow down for everyone else.
03:41You're exhausting everybody.
03:43It's the one of my proudest ones.
03:46Everybody else is like, why the f*** is he walking so fast?
03:49And I know it's because it's on an incline, right?
03:51So you're just powering through it?
03:52Yep.
03:54Okay.
03:56Let's, I don't know if we should.
03:58What does it say on the lock?
04:00Walk 1,000.
04:02Good.
04:03No one will know.
04:06No way to track who can put that there.
04:08Woo!
04:11Franky!
04:151,000 days.
04:18You know, walk 1,000, you know, every day.
04:21You got to do it every day.
04:22You got to be consistent about it.
04:25And look at this.
04:26Look at how you're getting watched.
04:27It's a nice day.
04:28Walking over to Brooklyn Bridge.
04:30This bridge is 143 years old.
04:36And, you know, you just got to keep doing it every day.
04:39And that's how you do it.
04:41Start slow and build up.
04:43And, you know, you never know where you're going to stop.
04:47Awesome.
04:49All right, hands up.
04:50Woo!
04:52Yeah.
04:55What do you think was the closest to the streak breaking?
05:01The days I was sick and the day I cut my foot.
05:04Yeah.
05:06The fact that you hobbled around on crutches is pretty insane.
05:21So, I just want to thank everybody for coming for Walk 1,000.
05:25We had a great little group here.
05:27Thanks again.
05:28Big congratulations to Frank.
05:30And I think the most important thing from this whole story is that this guy used to not be able
05:36to walk 100 feet without being out of breath.
05:39And now he's inspiring people to actually exercise and walk.
05:43And he started at 47.
05:45So, it's just never too late.
05:47I'm in better shape at 50 than I was at 30.
05:49And his legacy won't be yelling and cursing about New Jersey Transit and the Mets.
05:56It'll be this.
05:58So, congrats, Frankie.
05:59Thanks.
05:59Great job.
06:00Good job, Frank.
06:01By the way, you got 11,000 so far for today.
06:04Let's see how much further I can go.
06:05Let's go.
06:06Let's go.
06:07Let's go.
06:07Let's go.
06:07Let's go.
06:09Let's go.
06:09Let's go.
06:09Let's go.
06:10Let's go.
06:10Let's go.
