Twin powerful earthquakes measuring magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck northern Venezuela less than a minute apart, killing at least 235 people, trapping hundreds beneath collapsed buildings, and leaving thousands homeless. Rescue teams continue searching for survivors in Caracas and La Guaira as hospitals struggle with the growing number of casualties. In the hard-hit La Guaira region, AFP journalists reported that at least one supermarket was looted, with men and women seen leaving the partially burned store carrying bags filled with goods. Rescue personnel, humanitarian aid, and emergency support have been deployed by Mexico, El Salvador, Switzerland, Chile, Ecuador and the United States as international relief efforts continue.
