00:00So I'm the Festival of Ballot and I'm going to talk about the work that we've been doing at the
00:04Festival.
00:05I've been working at the company for two years and I'm really proud and feel privileged to actually work for
00:12Ball Glasses.
00:13One of the main things that I've wanted to do with Andrew is really invest in our portal core, really
00:20invest in the community.
00:22I come from a background we've worked at BBC and the community is a massive thing for me.
00:28When I came to Ballmasters in 2024 there was a number of things which didn't go that well and that's
00:38not acceptable and that's a joint thing that we all take on board.
00:43So we've worked really hard to be good neighbours in the past few years in my role and that really
00:49comes in three ways.
00:51So not only do we want to minimise the impact that the Festival has on local people, on local residents,
00:58local communities, local businesses and also tourists.
01:01But it's also about how Ballmasters can be a force for good.
01:05We are really privileged to help business our home, so how can we leverage our power with the local community,
01:14with theatre, with the council, with local businesses and also collectives as well.
01:19And then the third thing is, how can we actually leverage Ballmasters to be a platform to celebrate all its
01:25arts, all its culture, all its ways of life, all its surfing and everything that Cornwall and the surrounding areas
01:33have to offer.
01:34So this year we are expanding the festival. Music Reserve will always be at the heart of what we do
01:42but we committed to bringing art in last year, we committed to bringing wellness in as well.
01:48So this year in terms of art, we are doing a partnership with Dalmer Cuni in Oceana. They are taking
01:56over the view stage. So that's been reimagined and we are celebrating ocean positivity.
02:02So we are working with 46 students and they are going to show a spotlight on bottom trolling, which I
02:10think there's a bit of myth that bottom trolling doesn't actually happen in oceans.
02:13Because of the way that supermarkets package sort of sourceful fishing up and it still does. So that's something that
02:23we are really pleased with now about.
02:25We are also bringing Ballmasters murials up to sites as well, so we are working with local artists to celebrate
02:33local art as well.
02:34In terms of the work of the local community to celebrate Spanish culture, not only do we work with these
02:43introducing, we have also committed and we will find out who the winner is of the Ballmasters in the Breaking
02:50competition.
02:51They will be a local artist, singer, songwriter, depends who gets chosen, but they will open our main stage on
02:58Sunday.
02:59So to be able to give a local artist the privilege to perform on our main stage alongside Lily Allen,
03:06alongside Xavier, alongside Fat Boy's Thin, which I know the locals are going to love because that Friday is flying,
03:12is an amazing thing to do.
03:14And in terms of the other stuff that we're working on at Upper Watergate Bay, we have a new capacity
03:21and that's going to be a new location and we're really excited to see that come to life.
03:28In terms of fish floor, one of the things that we did last year was bring back skating and we
03:35mentioned that we've upgraded the conversation and fish floor is something that is ball past the soul.
03:41We've been surfing since 1981, not me, but we've been surfing as a business since 1981 and fish floor is
03:52a different event to Watergate Bay.
03:54And we recognize that it's all under one umbrella. So the work that we're doing down here is greater likely.
04:02It leans into the values that Lukey and the Surrounded Areas really support with surfing.
04:09We're bringing family programming down here and we've also got our Ballmasters talk stand.
04:14We're expanding that from surf to art and music and also well-being as well.
04:22In terms of everything else that the festival has to offer, we are committed to being here for good.
04:31We've got our license for maturity, we're sticking to 53,000, but that doesn't mean that Ballmasters is stocking growing.
04:38What we want to do is really diversify what the festival is and really deliver something that hopefully Nukey and
04:46Hall will be stranded in areas that are really proud of as well.
04:49So we just want to bring our friends and also partners together tonight to say thank you to everyone and
04:57to bring everyone together and have conversations before we move on to site on the 13th of July.
05:03We will be busy and we will be busy and just really celebrate all of these beautiful circles, have great
05:09conversations and also shine the spotlight on the great work that the team is doing.
05:14So thank you to everyone that is involved locally in Ballmasters.
05:19We're really excited about this year. Hopefully the weather is good.
05:23I got asked that question about the weather and in my view, having a day not as hot as this,
05:31but 23 Celsius with an ice breeze coming in and a beautiful sunset for five days is something that we
05:38want.
05:39So thank you to everyone and have some food, have a drink and yeah, look forward to seeing you up
05:44in the water at bay or down the festival.
