00:03welcome back to wild on the riviera 2002 as you can see the south of france is heating up and
00:09we're going to introduce you to someone who's going to make it even hotter thanks it's a little
00:14thing called showmanship they've forgotten a lot of that here it can't but this year thanks to
00:18patron tequila trauma also upscaled it a bit when they threw a boat party that included a performance
00:23by the international dance group burn the floor and of course we let maria have a go of it as
00:33well
00:36so you can see maria loves to party one of the most important qualifications of any wild on girl
00:45so you can see i've had a pretty wild time here in the riviera brooke thanks for giving me the
00:51opportunity to audition for the wild on host jobs see you later thanks maria you know trauma isn't
00:58the only one making art on the riviera and action meet jeff wadlow he's one of ten filmmakers in the
01:06south of france with a very big challenge in front of them we are here today in a parking garage
01:11in
01:11the french riviera as part of the chrysler million dollar film festival this is the leg of the festival
01:18called extreme filmmaking and uh i'm an extreme filmmaker that means you got no money no equipment
01:28no help and they drop you in france until you make a movie it's called the chrysler million dollar film
01:35festival and the ten filmmakers have to utilize a chrysler automobile somewhere in their film
01:39the other sponsors of the contest are hypnotic and universal films after judging here in can five
01:45finalists will be chosen to share a house in los angeles this summer as they develop their million
01:50dollar production package a winner will be chosen in the fall yeah you ready yeah let's do it
01:56it's challenging enough to turn around a complete five minute film in ten days working in the gorgeous
02:02and distracting south of france can make it even more difficult well if you ever get to see it this
02:08is my
02:09first trip to the can film festival and as you see we are enjoying it taking insights reveling in the
02:17sun
02:18e-zone steve cameco was one of the judges and we'll take you to the screening party later
02:26time to get back to the beautiful people such as mila jovovich she hit the party scene on the riviera
02:32to help promote l'oreal it's a job she loves because it brings her to the south of france
02:40i feel really lucky i mean to be able to have this and not be working is the most amazing
02:47thing in the
02:47world as a beautiful young actress she's very aware of how to dress on the red carpet and can
02:53you know i just try and get creative i brought a lot of stuff with me that i've worn before
02:58to a lot of different events and i just felt like you know if i'm an artist
03:01i don't need to buy new clothes i can just recycle the ones i have and make them look new
03:06and i think a lot of girls will appreciate that because you know you don't need to buy new clothes
03:10all the time you just have to have an imagination lots of other stars made fashionable appearances
03:15and can including sharon stone who always seems to draw crowds johnny depp also had his fans lots and
03:23lots of fans finally the very stylish matt lauer brought his today's show antics to the riviera
03:34and we got up close and personal as he prepared for the show
03:44this might have caused matt to slow down a bit nothing beats a beautiful blonde in a bikini
03:49she's just one of the many unusual sights you might come across in the riviera it's always
03:54been a great place for the paparazzi to come get some shall we say unique photo opportunities
03:59full attention oh kiss me and i will review to my croissant i would spread your pete
04:05i would zoom carrie also knew how to capture our attention check this out elizabeth taylor left this
04:16carrie was on fire in 1994 even having some fun at our own michael castor's expense i was gonna say
04:23wake up man look behind you what's that noise
04:36the riviera is so wild it can make you thirst for more
04:41there that's better these are the hot door awards the riviera's naughty little secret
04:48while the world's most glamorous film festival unspools and can the adult film industry's
04:53biggest night takes place just outside town i think my lips are ready not if i'm right
04:59dressed when she let us pick her out a dress i think it's too clubby a little too conservative
05:06yeah i think this is the one
05:12we win we win and we went along as she swept the hot door awards and celebrated in style
05:21time to get hot hot hot when wild on the riviera returns this is pretty much as good as it
05:28gets
05:28we've got rebecca abisa and some tasty temptations don't go away
05:50welcome back to wild on the riviera 2002 i'm brooke burke we're in the middle of the wildest two weeks
05:56in
05:56the world it's the unofficial can film festival and the stars showed up to party it's hard to beat a
06:03party that includes antonio banderas melanie griffith rebecca romaine stamos and michael douglas
06:08the high-powered turnout was for antonio and rebecca's new thriller femme fatale before they
06:14could party however the stars had to attend the movie's premiere at the can film festival
06:26especially for me i came here back in los angeles some people think some people think it's entirely
06:33different no not for me not for me yeah it's practically almost the same face that i think
06:41it's all part of the celebrity game here on the riviera you gotta promote promote promote
06:46even rebecca's walk across the hotel lobby is considered newsworthy hey we're shooting this
06:51so even we get sucked into it but this is wild on so you know that the best part is
06:57when celebrities
06:57get to party i am just here this uh this evening i'm visiting some friends and schmoozing she doesn't
07:04have any responsibilities today she has been sleeping the whole day in a beautiful hotel room
07:09and i've been working working working that's why yeah i was pissed she was sleeping for five hours
07:18this is pretty much as good as it gets this is i you know exceeds my wildest dreams since i
07:28was a
07:28little girl so i've just i've been waiting for this my whole life you only get to do this once
07:32for the
07:32first time i'm extremely excited one of the best parts of can is the poisette this walkway along the
07:38beach where people gather to hang out and watch the parties and while we love the nightlife we also love
07:43the days the weather on the riviera was absolutely gorgeous and that brought out even more stars
07:53although some had to do a bit of work indoors model turned actress jamie king and american pies sean
08:00william scott met with the press to announce a new project they are starring in with hong kong actor
08:05chow young fat after the requisite photos jules asner got to talk with the stars about the film
08:11and the magic of can you guys been a little overwhelmed or a little you know what it's literally we
08:19you know we were literally just like carted here like that like so fast that you know we literally came
08:25off the plane like went to the hotel you know try to get it i was up for like 36
08:29hours yesterday
08:31straight you know oh no i had like one hour of sleep you know so it's sort of been like
08:35you know
08:35we've just been going straight on through you know so we we've been overriding all it doesn't feel
08:41overwhelming energy yeah like you just kind of like don't stop you ride the waves okay now how do you
08:46guys
08:46feel about working with chow young fat because he is he's god yeah young fat this is his first movie
08:52since crouching tiger so it's quite an honor to work for him yeah first movie it's been two years and
08:59you know there's things that he he does this movie that we've loved since the killer and hard
09:05world and then you know a lot of crouching tiger stuff and you know to work opposite him and you're
09:11to learn from him he's just one of the most amazing people let alone the actors that i've ever met
09:17now who has the moves in the movie who's really got we're supposed to really yeah i mean yeah it's
09:24the the action is pretty insane it's got a real street vibe and real hong kong traditional hong kong
09:31moves and it's really it's really cool thanks for stopping by thanks for having us it was nice meeting
09:36you thank you nice to meet you we know each other we go way back back to you jamie king
09:42wasn't the only
09:43model on the riviera this year meet athena cansino it's her first time in can but she's not scared
09:54feels like a thousand people screaming your name in every direction what where do you want me to look
10:01so it was fun it was great definitely uh an experience a new one athena's got hollywood royalty in her
10:08blood she's rita niece and she's performed in videos with jlo and kid rock even with that experience
10:14there's no way to prepare for the wildness of the riviera i love it it's just beautiful i mean it's
10:20really it's amazing quite lovely sight i would say we turn it over to rachel lee cook when we come
10:28back
10:29i mean really we don't get along at all plus it's bikinis bikinis bikinis bikinis
10:35and it tastes as good as it looks stay tuned
10:56welcome back to wild on the riviera i'm a little beat right now so let's turn the mic over to
11:01another
11:02pro hi i'm rachel lee cook reporting from the can film festival i'm here with uh stars of the movie
11:09what's the movie you guys are promoting here scorch are you happy with it what's the deal you guys
11:15having fun um yeah i mean it's very sunny here in can't rachel lee cook and the cast of scorched
11:22was
11:22getting well scorched in the hot riviera sun as usual the paparazzi were relentlessly in search of their
11:28very own unique shot it's insane i mean i don't know i'm not going to forget my name anytime soon
11:37that's for sure this kind of press event helps promote a movie worldwide in one afternoon even
11:43though it can be exhausting this is rachel lee cook firing myself from reporting from the can film
11:50festival back to you in the studio not so fast rachel you've still got a movie premiere to attend
11:56and that's just what she did joined by her cast and unexpected guest melissa joan hart
12:02this is my first screening actually we were late for the deborah winger one last night we didn't
12:05realize it's going to be really early um you know in hollywood it's always a little later everything
12:10i imagined and more it's so beautiful it's pretty it's pretty surreal but uh it's amazing nothing left to
12:18do except party what else do you expect on the riviera melissa's not in can to promote anything
12:25just to have a good time you can jump around go from party to party and you stay out as
12:31long as you
12:31want go home as early as you want it doesn't matter go back to the hotel there's always people in
12:35the
12:35hotel it's insane here's another star having a good time on the riviera sam rockwell came to the south
12:44of france to celebrate his new movie called welcome to collinwood you want me to smile you gotta you gotta
12:49tell the joke the day started with publicity photos then a round of interviews it's all part of the
12:54game here you've got to sell yourself and your film to the world's press it helps when one of your
12:59producers is george clooney who also takes a small part in the film he's a cut up but you know
13:05the film
13:06we're all playing such losers in this film that you know and we all we had so many fun days
13:10and you
13:11know but george just added to all of that just kind of heightened it and it was thrilling the only
13:16thing
13:16my experience with it was i had this line where he's he's dressed like a rabbi and he's sitting
13:21in his wheelchair and i said to him why are you dressed like a priest and that was his first
13:24day
13:24there and i'm like you know i'm like the new guy on the set everybody else is like this experience
13:28he's like you're an idiot for directors joe and anthony russo working with the entire cast was a
13:34dream come true well you can't help the fact that you're getting giddy when you know one of your heroes
13:39locked into a room the respect that you have for their work and the way you've appreciated them
13:44through the years are just it's like it makes them so much larger than life because they've played
13:48such a like an intimate role in your own experiences and after the film's premiere it was time to
13:55what else the sight of so many beautiful women makes us hungry so we decided to take our own
14:18beautiful jule basner and send her into the kitchen with chef slash wild man mario batelli
14:23hi how are you good to see you my partner joe bascianes we make perfect pizza by making it very
14:30simple we have a perfect dough what we add is a little twist to it by having our stunt pie
14:34team

14:39no it's
14:40just flour and water and yeast and salt and sugar okay okay watch what i do pressure pressure

15:37french just give it a chance like that okay there we go see you're afraid of this aren't you what
15:44i have
15:46no it's a problem here take that last night we were at the hotel restaurant which is palm
15:51door which is actually i heard that that's a nice it's probably the best one but a lot of times
15:54it's just
15:55about the simple food like the pizza here on the coast and the piece saladier and the market called the
15:58marché for view there you go
16:04i'm ready to eat ready let's go we need a pizza okay are you gonna let me do this one

17:12we're not done yet we're not we're never gonna let you go don't go away
17:23wild on exotic locales friendly natives e online travel tips photos wild adventures go to
17:29eonline.com or america online keyword e exclamation point
17:42welcome back to wild on the riviera as you can see everyone's taking it easy around here
17:47but that's not always the case we thought we'd share our two favorite riviera moments with you
17:58it doesn't get much hotter than this or wilder in the year 2000 stacy burke lit up the riviera
18:08and with that innocent question stacy clinton i mean i you know i'm a sucker for the whole thing
18:14you grant knows what he's talking about in 1995 the actor arrived for a photo op only to find himself
18:21upstaged by one very enterprising actress
18:27this scene wins our prize as the wildest moment on the real with you i think it's high camp and
18:33high far and fun it is that's why you'll find adam sandler cameron diaz and leonardo dicaprio all
18:40showing up to do the riviera thing even jack nicholson showed up to wow the crowd nothing will have me
18:48look
18:48at what i want to look at at this age because they don't make those films at least i haven't
18:52seen
18:52them in america jack's co-star from terms of endearment deborah winger was the subject of a unique
18:58documentary called searching for deborah winger rosanna arquette directed the film and she held a press
19:04conference in can with her sister patricia the film deals candidly with the difficulties women have
19:09in hollywood balancing career and family i just wanted to film an experience talking with women
19:16do you find that there's a real competitiveness or that just what the roles you all go for the same
19:22roles and no you feel like there's a camaraderie with the women and you are yeah i feel more that
19:27you know i think steve cameco spoke with rosanna and she explained her motive for making the film
19:32i became a mother and i dedicated a few years to to motherhood and not really my career and then
19:40i came
19:43out back and i was about to be 40 and i saw that the climate for actresses in their 40s
19:51was there
19:53weren't that many roles that were that interesting and and i said god you know what happened to deborah winger
19:58how did it end up in the camp film festival uh what did you submit it to um to jill
20:05jacob um the my
20:07producers did unfinished i was um pretty mortified but then terry frimeau who's it was terry frimeau and
20:16jill jacob do it together uh came to los angeles and i i knew that they were going to look
20:22at it and
20:22i just said i want you to know that you're seeing a basically completely unfinished film and you know
20:30they wrote a letter called me called me back and said we love this movie it's a dream for us
20:34and
20:34so we frantically had to finish it
20:41rosanna got into the can party spirit by spinning music at a local club a fitting way to celebrate
20:51time now to head back to the serious business of can that's right the press needs their autographs
20:58michael keaton took time to put pen to paper before his press conference to announce his new film live
21:03from baghdad keaton was joined by co-star lily taylor and director mick jackson the movie is not just
21:08about how the cnn reporters got to that point with the bombs bursting outside the hotel room covering a
21:14war live from behind enemy lines a journalistic first but um really about the issues involved
21:19how do you cover a war from behind the enemy lines without compromising on the the way you get
21:25information out there's a place now to go make uh uh movies like this not not just because uh and
21:33not
21:33and and not just because of the subject matter but especially because of the subject matter i would say
21:38after answering questions for an hour the cast headed over to a cocktail reception to celebrate
21:43their trip to the french riviera i want to go eat and then i'm gonna go to a party later
21:48sounds
21:49pretty good i just took a sauna and then i emerged so no it's been it's been fun
22:05body of christ you got your attention we hope so because this was one of the major film
22:11discoveries for wild on it's called jesus christ vampire hunter and it's a wacky and very entertaining
22:18horror film directed by lee de marbre who made an arduous trek to be in can the image of a
22:24cross and
22:24the beach and all the yachts behind the cross i i thought of that before we started filming i've been
22:29talking about it for like three years and it was so nice to finally get it up there and you
22:34know it
22:35was nice to see all the press come out it didn't you know attract attention like i was hoping don't
22:39be
22:39offended now this is just the kind of stunt that helps a low budget filmmaker get attention and with
22:44all the low budget movies the actors do much more than just act do the makeup uh acting i did
22:51some of
22:51the soundtrack stunts and stunt choreography like just uh choreographing fight scenes and stuff the film
23:01was in can to be screened for an appreciative group of buyers we spent only 40 000 canadian on the
23:06film so
23:07the production values make evil dead look like ben-hur um that's okay lee those are two of our favorite
23:15films it's time to take a break and refuel we'll offer you a tasty bite when we come back and
23:23we'll
23:23introduce you to more wild on hopeful it's all when wild on the riviera returns
23:44welcome back to wild on the riviera tempted as you can see this eve has the attention of a large
23:53group of
23:53adams meet miss norway inger evil topes the star of the new film eve which is being sold worldwide here
24:01in can for inger the can experience is a unique one it's fun it's great great weather nice to be
24:08here
24:09and i just i'm just such a i take everything at ease and try to enjoy myself inger did what
24:16every
24:16aspiring actress and can does during the film festival pose pose pose pose ease is unique because
24:24there's no dialogue in the film at all i had to show all my emotions with just my body movements
24:32and
24:32through my eyes i definitely loved working with film but i was more interested actually in what
24:40went on behind like behind the camera good luck inger and save a bite of that for us
24:55one of the festival's biggest events each year is the opening of the american pavilion
24:59the pavilion is a home away from home for the u.s press and can and this year actress christina
25:05ricci
25:05had the honor of officially opening the pavilion the pavilion offers a wide array of services to
25:14the press including food prepared by acclaimed chef such as mario batali who was here with bon appetit
25:20magazine after posing for pictures christina told jules dasner why can is so special it's a really fun
25:29glamorous exciting place if you don't get too sucked into it um and it's great as far as an actress
25:37goes
25:37in self-promotion you know millions of photo opportunities and yeah you just try to take full
25:43advantage and then it's a great it's a great festival earlier in the show we told you about the chrysler
25:51million dollar movie contest now it's time to see the results and party with the finalists first let's
25:58meet judge steven baldwin whatever i think is just the coolest film i'm going to vote for it uh so
26:05it's a little bit of luck like like most everything else but uh apparently it's going to be tough because
26:09everybody's supposed to have done a really excellent job so congratulations to everybody everybody's a
26:13winner to even just come here and have fun it can our own steve cameco was also a judge 10
26:19filmmakers
26:19spent 10 days making their five minute movies and from there five were picked as finalists
26:33of course at the end of every day you've got to unwind so our friends at chrysler brought the
26:39british group bond down to can to perform we also talked to some of the happy finalists it's a good
26:46feeling and i love everyone i met here and i've shook a lot of hands with other filmmakers that are
26:51not
26:51going and it feels very good we're very excited and uh it's a great feeling but the screening was the
26:57highlight that was really fun to see 10 films made by 10 people under such incredible conditions was
27:07just so fulfilling
27:10there are a lot of ways to get attention on the riviera
27:23how about putting on a dance show that's what the young star of the new film the biggest fan did
27:29and the fans loved it it's incredible so awesome it's amazing i mean we're among like we're probably
27:44probably the best city to be in at this time of the year it's beautiful the beach and you got
27:48all the
27:48excitement with all these great films out and i mean look at us we're look at that look at that
27:53you can't
27:54get anything better than that it's a great experience it's awesome it was work but then the work was a
27:58lot of fun because we both loved to act and it was our first starring role together so it was
28:02nerve
28:03wrecking but at the same time we were having a great time on the set we were you know chilling
28:07every
28:07five seconds you know anytime we could we were having fun and making jokes and making it a great
28:11experience for both of us the more you do it the more you get used to it you know it's
28:15the same thing
28:15with dance and trying to come up with new stuff and stuff that kids will like you know and hopefully
28:20we
28:20imitate the dance because dream street has a huge fan you know fan base and you know people love you
28:26know they love chris to death so i'm just so excited he got a chance to show it you know
28:31show it off
28:31the group's name is dream street and while their moves are certainly fresh just to ensure you get
28:37noticed it never hurts to have the hawaiian tropic girls show up and lend a hand
28:51we've got our hottest stuff still up ahead on wild on the riviera calm down girls
29:04girls calm down okay we'll shake it up with shannon and arlene when we come back
29:18hi i'm brooke berk berk friday nights it's the brook block two full hours of fun brook style at nine
29:26it's rank followed by an all new episode of wild on it's a date i'll see you at the brook
29:31hey i'm vanessa maniello i'm from sunny southern california why don't you go uh shimmer
