00:01Kung Lee Seol has built a reputation as one of the most prolific
00:06sharpshooters in the game.
00:07Guess who's taking the three?
00:08It's Kang!
00:09On the money!
00:11She is hot as fire, ladies and gentlemen.
00:13Wow, she's incredible.
00:15Kang!
00:16Another three!
00:18The fans and her teammates are celebrating, folks.
00:22And so it proved again earlier this year when firing Korea
00:27to its 17th straight FIBA Women's World Cup.
00:32Kang set a qualifying tournament record with eight three-pointers
00:36in a win over the Philippines,
00:38one that secured Korea's place in Berlin this September.
00:41Three ball goes up!
00:43And the record is finally broken!
00:47And across her five games, she launched an incredible 65 triples,
00:53connecting on 41.5% of them
00:55to finish with almost 19 points per game
00:58and lead all scorers in Lyon-Wirban.
01:04Coach Park always tells me to shoot whenever I get even a small opportunity,
01:08Kang said during the tournament.
01:10Many of our set plays are built to help shooters get open shots.
01:14Because the team and the coach trust me that much,
01:17I try to take more shots and work harder to make more of them.
01:22The Koreans would finish with an impressive 3-2 record,
01:26also beating Colombia and upsetting five-time reigning FIBA Women's Afro Basket
01:31champion Nigeria, a quarter-finalist at the Paris Olympics less than two years ago.
01:41And by wrapping up qualification with a game to spare,
01:45Korea will be headed to Berlin,
01:47where Kang will look to build upon another historic performance from four years ago.
01:52Kang Lee Soon has the green light here today.
01:57At the 2022 World Cup in Sydney,
02:00she dropped 37 points to lead her team past Bosnia-Herzegovina
02:04for its first victory at the tournament in 12 years,
02:08her seven long-range hits in that game being the second most of all time.
02:17But Korea is showing its improvement even beyond Kang's heroics.
02:21At last year's FIBA Women's Asia Cup,
02:24when she exited the tournament after just one game due to injury,
02:28the team dug deep to finish fourth.
02:32The Koreans will need to show more of that fight this year,
02:36opening up with a rematch against a Nigerian side looking to avenge its defeat in Lyon
02:41before taking on Olympic silver medalist France
02:44and rounding out Group B play against Hungary.
02:49But if Kang's history and Korea's form are any guide,
02:53they will be ready for the big stage.
02:56Kang, top player, feeling it.
02:59She's in the zone.
03:00She's locked in.
03:01Every time she touches the ball, she's being aggressive.
03:04For all the latest on the road to the FIBA Women's World Cup 2026,
03:08head to FIBA.Basketball.
03:10Trying to create space.
03:12Could it be triple number seven?
03:13You've got to be kidding me!
03:15Oh my gosh!
03:16This is unreal.
