Which Tube line is hottest? We put it to the test
Transcript
00:03Another heat wave has hit London so today I'm asking the age-old question which tube is the
00:09hottest? I'll be hopping on every single underground line with this infrared thermometer
00:15trying not to melt in the process. So I've done the first two tube lines and ended up here at
00:24Moorgate station. The northern line came out to 33 degrees flat whereas the Bakerloo line was at
00:3036.4, our hottest so far. That was a much-needed cool break from the rest of the tube lines.
00:41Only
00:4122.6 degrees on the Elizabeth line. I'm here at Farringdon and that makes it the coolest so far.
00:50So I'm outside Great Portland Street having been on the Metropolitan line which
00:54essentially uses very similar trains to the District, Circle, Hammersmith and City lines
00:59and they all run on a very similar track across central London. It came in marginally hotter than
01:05the Elizabeth line at 22.7. Still a lot cooler than a few of the other lines.
01:14I've made it to Waterloo now having been on the central Piccadilly and Jubilee lines. The Piccadilly
01:20line came out at 33.7 degrees and the central line topped out at 39.4, almost 40 degrees.
01:29Unsurprisingly, barely anyone was on the train. We were on the central line train and the Jubilee
01:34line came to 37.2 which comes in at the second hottest so far.
01:43Finally, that was the Victoria line which came to 33.6 which is an ice bath compared to the central
01:50line.
01:50So this is our final ranking table with the Lizzy line at the bottom at 22.6 degrees and unsurprisingly,
01:58the central line almost topping out at 40 degrees at 39.4.
