00:06A woman caught on video dumping a public trash can on the street, then stealing it during
00:11New York City's Knicks Championship Parade, was a director at JPMorgan Chase and was fired
00:17on June 23rd over the incident, the Post has learned.
00:21The viral clips circulated across the internet showing Angie Baez dressed in Knicks gear
00:26dumping the contents of a limited edition blue and orange trash can onto a Manhattan
00:31sidewalk before walking off with a receptacle.
00:34Additional images show her riding the subway with the stolen bin.
00:38Sources say the bank looked into the incident after the video surfaced.
00:42A JPMorgan Chase spokesperson told the Post, this employee is no longer with the company.
00:47Baez was the executive director of Community and Industry Engagement for Card and Connected
00:52Commerce at JPMorgan Chase.
00:54The 40-year-old previously served as the executive director of DEI at a New York-based review
01:00site, which Chase acquired as part of its broader push into lifestyle and experiential content.
01:05Under New York City law, theft of property valued under $1,000 is typically charged as petty larceny,
01:11a Class A misdemeanor.
01:13Consequences are often minimal, typically resulting in a fine, summons or community service for
01:19first-time offenders.
01:20The littering that accompanied the theft could bring additional penalties.
01:24Dumping trash onto the street and stealing public property for your own personal use are both illegal,
01:29antisocial behaviors and not what New Yorkers do.
01:32On top of all that, doing both on camera is incredibly stupid, the New York City Department
01:38of Sanitation told the Post in a statement.
01:41The NYPD said on June 20th it had not received any complaints related to the incident and Baez
01:46has not been charged with a crime.
