00:15Following the success of artist-driven films about Elton John and Queen's Bohemian
00:19Rhapsody, the studio is now creating a scripted anthology series based on Billy Joel's
00:24music titled Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. The show, which takes its title from
00:29Joel's favorite song from his sizable catalog, will feature episodes based on the lyrics and
00:33characters from his iconic songs. And judging by the show's title, you can probably count on
00:38Brenda and Eddie being there. MGM-TV President of Development and Production Steve Stark
00:42spoke to THR in regards to the news saying,
00:51The series is going to focus less on Billy's life and more on the stories inside his catalog
00:56of classic songs. The musician has had a wide range of hits throughout his notable career,
01:01including the likes of Piano Man, Uptown Girl, The Longest Time and New York State of Mind.
01:17Joel is licensing his entire music catalog for the series, where it'll be reimagined and rearranged
01:22by the singer's music team with his input. The show is currently being shopped around to
01:27different networks and is being created by Law & SVU's Kevin Fox, who's producing the
01:31series alongside Joel and his longtime producing partner Steve Cohen.
