00:56It is a work that brings black protagonism.
00:58It is about a boy who came from Africa who was kidnapped, torn away from his roots, and he's an
01:02inventor.
01:03He's a scientist, so he looks at a black person from another perspective, through another lens.
01:09One that escapes what we have seen throughout the history of audiovisual productions,
01:14where black people were always portrayed in roles of submission, always invisible.
01:18And in Amadeu, it is different.
01:19He is an artist, he is deriving for of the history.
01:24With nine Brazilian productions at the festival, and narratives focused on social criticism,
01:31black filmmakers brought new perspectives on Brazil's peripheries.
01:36Among them, Rogério Nunes presented the animated film Heart of Darkness,
01:42set in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, and exploring themes such as inequality and racism.
01:50It is an adaptation of the book Heart of Darkness, a Brazilian dystopia set in Rio de Janeiro, in the

01:58The film tells the story of Lieutenant Marlon, from Rio de Janeiro's military police,
02:05who is tasked with finding a captain, Captain Kurtz, who is lost in the vast outskirts of Rio de Janeiro.
02:12It is a film that speaks a lot about class, race, and prejudices.
02:17There is a very strong social conflict between the poor and the wealthy.
02:22The Brazilian government brought more than 80 professionals from different areas of the audiovisual sector to China
02:29and organized the Brazilian cinema showcase in Shanghai during the festival.
02:35The initiative aims to expand the presence of Brazilian productions
02:39and create new opportunities for filmmakers, producers, and distributors in the Asian market.
02:46Since the first year, President Lula has spoken about the need to take care of our international relations
02:52and expand these relations with new territories and new partnerships.

02:59In the Brazil-China Cultural Year is a major initiative of the Brazilian government,
03:04led by the Ministry of Culture.
03:05This initiative is supported by major Brazilian-owned companies such as P&Ds, Petrobras, and Caixa Económica.
03:13To promote broad cultural collaboration throughout the year,
03:17we have already had actions in music, visual arts, and now we are here in the audiovisual sector.
03:24Even without winning awards, Brazil's presence at Asia's largest film festival
03:30highlights the circulation of small-scale productions in the international scene.
03:36The participation of black filmmakers in a space historically marked by a white majority,
03:43combined with institutional support, expand the reach of Brazilian audiovisual production
