00:00This Jeopardy! contestant was finally defeated after a 32-game winning streak.
00:05Neha.
00:06Uh, who is James Holzhauer?
00:08That's right.
00:09After a 32-game winning streak, Jeopardy! champion James Holzhauer has finally ended his reign.
00:15After a two-week break, the trivia champion returned to the game show in mid-May
00:19in an attempt to beat all-time Jeopardy! record-setter Ken Jennings' winning streak.
00:23But sadly, the professional sports gambler's streak came to an end when he competed
00:27against Chicago-based librarian Emma Boettcher during his 33rd game.
00:31Emma, it's up to you.
00:33If you came up with a correct response, you're going to be the new Jeopardy! champion.
00:37Did you? You did. What did you wager?
00:40Oh gosh, $20,000. What a payday. $46,801.
00:46Jennings remains the all-time undefeated champion of Jeopardy! having earned more than $2.5 million
00:52over 74 games.
00:54Holzhauer's daily winnings of $77,000 succeeded Jennings' daily average of $33,000,
01:00and the 34-year-old had already accumulated $2,462,216, so he was just shy of beating Jennings'
01:09record on Monday night. During the episode, Boettcher remained in the lead when they reached
01:13Final Jeopardy! All three contestants answered the final question correctly, but since
01:17Holzhauer unfortunately didn't wager enough money, Boettcher was able to take the win.
01:21She spoke to the New York Times after the win saying,
01:24I don't think I felt like I won until host Alex Trebek said so.
01:28After Holzhauer's loss, Jennings took to Twitter to poke fun at him, all in good spirits of course,
01:32with a photo from Avengers Endgame to show how his reign of destruction has finally come to an end.
01:38Ah James, you played well my friend, you played well.
