Gusty winds, dry thunderstorms and low humidity will elevate the danger midweek.
Transcript
00:00As we step deeper into the dry season across the west, wind events like what we're facing late this week
00:06become especially concerning.
00:07We are looking at a significant round of fire danger.
00:10At midweek, even through Thursday, there's a high risk in much of the Great Basin,
00:15but there's a trough that's going to set in into the northwest that's going to actually increase the winds just
00:21to the south of the footprint of the rain showers.
00:23So late this week, the winds will get stronger down into parts of Nevada and Utah and over through parts
00:30of Arizona into Colorado as well.
00:32You'll notice each afternoon the gusty winds pick up a little bit more, some deep purples on the map.
00:37Dew points will remain low.
00:39That means very low humidity, those browns where we have very dry air.
00:43And over the next few days, the winds will increase, especially Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as that trough brings cooling
00:50to the northwest.
00:51The winds increase in the Great Basin, and we actually have a very high risk of fire danger in and
00:58around Utah, western Colorado, northern Arizona.
01:01Lots of danger out there late this week, so be especially careful through the weekend.
