Police have dismantled a drug processing and distribution syndicate following the seizure of narcotics worth approximately RM9.7 million and the arrest of two suspects in Penang.

State police chief Commissioner Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng said the raid uncovered large quantities of MDMA, ketamine, ecstasy pills, Eramin 5 and liquid methamphetamine believed to be intended for local distribution.

00:11and the arrest of two suspects in Penang.
00:14State Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Dennis Lim Kuang Keng
00:18said a 35-year-old man was arrested at the parking area
00:21of a condominium in Butterworth at about 2 p.m. on June 19.
00:26Following the arrest, police raided an apartment unit in the same condominium
00:31where a 40-year-old woman was detained.
00:35A search of the premises uncovered a large quantity of drugs and equipment
00:39believed to have been used for processing and packaging narcotics.
00:43Among the drugs seized were MDMA powder, ketamine, ecstasy pills,
00:49aramin-5 pills and liquid methamphetamine.
00:53Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate had been operating
00:57since January this year, using the rented apartment
01:00as a processing, storage and packaging centre
01:03before distributing the drugs to the local market.
01:06Both suspects have been remanded for seven days until June 26
01:11to assist in investigations under Section 39, Subsection B
01:16of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
