Police have busted two syndicates and seized various drugs worth RM4.77mil.

Johor acting police chief Deputy Comm Hoo Chuan Huat said six suspects, aged from 21 to 50, were detained in several raids conducted by the state Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) on May 7 and 8.

00:00Police have busted two drug syndicates in Johor and seized various drugs worth an estimated 4.77 million ringgit.
00:09Johor, Acting Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Hu Chuan Huat, said six suspects, aged between 21 and 50,
00:17were arrested during several raids conducted by the State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department on May 7 and 8.
00:23He said three raids were carried out around Johor Bahru and Maasai on May 7, leading to the arrest of
00:30five local men.
00:31According to police, all the suspects tested positive for drugs, while four of them also had previous criminal records.
00:39Authorities seized a total of 27.54 kilograms of drugs with an estimated street value of 3.65 million ringgit.
00:48In a separate raid on May 8, police arrested a 21-year-old local man at a house in Taman
00:55Purling and seized drugs worth 1.12 million ringgit.
01:00Investigations revealed that the suspect, believed to be a drug distributor, had used the house as a drug storage and
01:07repackaging centre.
01:08The suspect also tested positive for drugs and had previous drug-related offences on record.
01:15Police also confiscated several assets, including cars, motorcycles, jewellery and cash, under the Dangerous Drugs, Forfeiture of Property Act, 1988.
01:26All suspects have been remanded for seven days and the cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous
01:34Drugs Act, 1952,
01:36which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment as well as no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane upon
01:42conviction.
