00:00You're watching Cyclery TV.
00:06An open loop is one of the most demanding technical tricks in BMX.
00:10George and Tavutian just took it to a new level, launching between two moving boats
00:14crossing paths on the open water.
00:16From the drop-in to the take-off, George had a window of exactly three seconds to read
00:22the wind, gauge the wave chop and commit to a moving target.
00:25The platform was moving forward, reducing the backward momentum George needed.
00:31The only solution was to ride fast and send his backflip blind.
00:37Normally a loop offers fixed reference points, but out here your take-off platform was moving
00:42forward while the landing boat was travelling in the opposite direction.
00:46How difficult was it?
00:47Pretty much the biggest challenge was the timing.
00:49So I had to pretty much forget everything I might typically do and do something new.
00:56It just happened.
00:58Yes!
00:58I got it!
01:01What goes through your head when you have to deliberately drop in before the ramps are
01:05even aligned, trusting a target you can't even see yet?
01:07I had to see where the landing is when I was upside down before taking off.
01:12I need to go sooner.
01:13When I was in the air, it was behind me.
01:15So it was so, so scary.
01:17Let's go again!
01:18Woo!
01:21That was fun!
01:22You cemented your legacy as the loop master back in Greece.
01:26Why did the Netherlands feel like the right place for this world first event?
01:30I have a very special connection here in the Netherlands because I did my first ever backflip
01:36here.
01:36Yes!
01:38Yes, buddy!
01:40That was it!
01:41Yeah, buddy!
01:42Yeah!
01:44You cemented!
01:45That was it, man!
01:46Returning to the country where he landed his first backflip as a teenager, the Greek loop
01:50master has rewritten the rules of what is possible on a BMX bike.
