00:02Standing at the bottom, imagining going from the top, it's a pretty nerve-wracking feeling.
00:07The face is so steep and standing up there is scary in the beginning.
00:13I've heard so much about how steep and gnarly it is, I've never seen it in person, but I can
00:18only imagine.
00:19So exposed, if you fall in some places you can actually die.
00:24Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance.
00:28We are live at the Yeti Extreme Verbier.
00:33And a double backflip, can he pull out, and he does!
00:40Look how steep that is, Derek, holy moly, what a run!
00:57And he has got some electricity under his feet.
01:02Massive three, a bit of a backslap, but still continuing down the Bector Ross.
01:07Well, Finn is bringing the intensity here, as he motors in, and a double backflip, can he pull out, and
01:13he does!
01:14Stop!
01:14Yes, Finn Powell!
01:17That's gotta feel good!
01:19There's no rest at the Yeti Extreme Verbier as the Spanish hero, Abel Moga, out of the gate and straight
01:26into it on start one.
01:27Straight into it, and we're just counting the seconds till we see our first frontflip out of the Spaniard.
01:33And here he is, lining up in front of this massive cliff.
01:38And clearing the entire thing, he's going for the Navarro La Bamba double!
01:43He's got it, he's got it, Kenny! Hold on, he does!
01:46Abel Moga getting back into control to launch a backflip!
01:51Whoa!
01:54Back up to the top, we go from strength to strength.
01:57Peak performance rider, Wei Tien Ho.
02:01All right, well, entering this double, going fall line, absolutely picture-perfect skiing so far for Wei Tien Ho.
02:10Finding this windlet, but staying up high on it as he rides down towards the end of this spine.
02:15Huge!
02:15Enormous backflip, clearing the rocks, back in control, fall line off the nose, oh!
02:23Immaculate free ride from Wei Tien Ho.
02:25What a double you can see in his body language, he was so pumped, so excited.
02:32He comes down, there is a piece of terrain below him, named after him, the Marcus Gogan double.
02:40And he is going back to the well that delivered his win.
02:44Look at this, Hadley entering into it, slowly off the second one.
02:49Oh, perfect landing for Marcus Gogan as he goes back again.
02:55All right, well, Max Hitzig in the gate.
02:59Max is able to match that, and we'll see as he enters in with heat into this first air.
03:06Flying over that enormous opening cliff, and Max Hitzig, in his trademark way, just making it almost look easy.
03:14He's going so fast through this incredibly technical terrain, and going way out to the rider's left, above so much
03:22exposure.
03:23He's got this huge cliff launching a backflip, landing perfectly in the powder.
03:27So Max Hitzig starting us off with a bang here.
03:31Bang, and straight into that closeout.
03:34It almost looks like he doesn't take off the way that he lands so solidly.
03:39Setting up.
03:41Transferring over that entire bottom section from that setback takeoff with a 360.
03:48We still have five more men to go, so all still to play for as another German rider, Timo Rolschauvin,
03:57riding for peak performance.
03:58Two comps this year, missing one because of school, and getting fifth place at both, showing that he can just
04:05show up and ride.
04:06And as we see, starting the comp with a 360, high off the venue, and making his way down as
04:13the snow is cascading around him.
04:15Perfect backflip.
04:17Wow. Well, Timo, he is bringing it now, that exposed high move up top, getting into this section where we
04:26saw Joey Leonardo have some trouble.
04:27Can Timo make it work? He does!
04:29Perfect, perfect connection with the transition, and still more to come below from Timo Rolschauvin.
04:35Look how steep that is, Derek. Holy moly, what a run out of this young German.
04:43What the fuck you spent tonight?
04:46That was so clean, man. That was nasty.
04:50All right, well, the score to beat, 91-67. Timo's score going way up a 93.
04:55Timo Rolschauvin taking over the hot seat with that incredible tip down the back.
05:02He can't believe it.
05:04Unbelievable. A big hug from the two peak performance athletes.
05:09The Lezak rider kicking out of start number three and immediately into the exposure as he gets things going.
05:19Coming in fourth overall, sitting in fourth with a massive high-speed double.
05:24And we're gonna see him point at fall line at some point, floating a 360, just managing to hold on.
05:31He had to really get his core engaged.
05:32And Hugo Troubat, another perfect landing, so he is stacking up the line score as well.
05:38We now move into the three riders that can land themselves on the top of the pile.
05:46The first one, Ross Tester, perfect technique, incredible boldness in line selection, incredible freestyle, and Ross getting right into it
05:55at absolutely full speed.
05:58Full speed making these great turns right at the top into this closeout, lofting a 360 with a perfect landing.
06:06Wow, that upper deck. We don't see many people tricking that closeout, but Ross Tester built for this as he
06:13gets over.
06:13Going cork seven over the rocks. Oh, not able to hold it. Looked like he bounced in about the best
06:20possible place that he could have in between.
06:23Oh, and Ross is upset. Coming in, setting up for the seven, clearing the rocks.
06:31I think his feet were just a little too wide and that snow a little too deep and a little
06:37bit not fully finished.
06:39Ben Richards, first, first, fourth. He has had a season. Ben Richards on course now, pushing out of start number
06:47three.
06:48The smoothest rider on the tour, rarely does a leg or an arm go slightly out of place as Ben
06:56lines up this first huge 360,
06:59perfectly stomped as if he was just, you know, booping around.
07:03And getting a 360 off the wind lip above all that exposure, straight into another air.
07:09Ben Richards not even hesitating a bit as he comes into this lower air.
07:14Full speed, he's got, oh, his skis, he's all good. Ben Richards, he is the GOAT for a reason as
07:21he's got this long transfer that we saw Hitzig take, executing to perfection.
07:27Ladies and gentlemen, there is nothing easy about skiing down the Beck at all.
07:34Big hugs down.
07:36So the score already dropping, the judges having their say, 96 points for Ben Richards as he moves into the
07:46hot seat and the crowd absolutely frothing.
07:51The man coming into this event in the lead is in the start gate now.
07:57The pressure is on.
07:59And as he enters his run immediately 360 off that upper feature landing clean and now full speed.
08:08Oh, you can hear the little giggles there.
08:10I love this mic'd up feature that we've got on the riders.
08:13Toby making his way down the enormity of this double below him that we saw Marcus go.
08:22One, two.
08:23And landing perfectly, Toby, just with that little hint of a giggle, coming down now into the apron.
08:38Waiting for the score.
08:40The judges have spoken to 96.
08:42The score to beat, he pops up to a 94.67.
08:46So Toby Rafford into second place.
08:50And we're just anxiously waiting to see the overall Ben Richards taking the Freeride World Tour title as the Freeride
08:59World Tour champion.
09:00Toby Rafford by 750 points.
09:06Incredibly close in the overall there.
09:1520 years old and he's kicking off the Eddie Xtreme Verbier.
09:19He's making his way right onto that face.
09:22The slough starting to white himself out.
09:26Huge first air for the rookie.
09:29As Cesar Baran biting off another big piece right off the nose.
09:34Getting the grab.
09:35Picking up speed.
09:36A little bit of a heel side edge bounce.
09:37But coming out of the powder clouds.
09:39Still on his board.
09:40Still on his board.
09:41You know, this is the kind of venue.
09:43Nice backside three.
09:45Where you really, there's no stopping.
09:47Once your board is in the fall line, you are heading down to this finish line.
09:51And the fans are here in force as the score coming in for Cesar Baran a 73-67.
09:58He's going to take over the hot seat to start things off here.
10:03Shane Blue-Sandblom dropping in from start one.
10:06Dropping in from start one, I think.
10:08What Shane proved this year is how good his mental strength is.
10:12Now, will he use this lip that Camille Armand put in?
10:14A massive backflip.
10:16And Shane Blue landing it perfectly.
10:19Oh, wow.
10:21These rookies, man.
10:22They are riding like veterans on this face.
10:27He was nervous.
10:30Really nervous.
10:30Sasha Belico, 28 years old, sitting in third overall.
10:34He does.
10:35And I think, you know, for your rookie season to have a chance to win the overall, that's
10:40and that's potentially the reason why.
10:43Look at the commitment it took to throw that backflip in such big exposure.
10:47And he continues to ride.
10:50Now with one more opportunity.
10:52Going for a seven.
10:54Oh, not quite making it.
10:56But, you know, I think this is the kind of run where he said, you know,
10:59potentially I've had one of my best seasons as a rookie.
11:04And I want to show that I have even more potential.
11:07We are back up to the top.
11:10The man in the start gate, Liam Rivera, competing in his own backyard.
11:15Yeah, and heading over in the...
11:17Oh, but adding a little bonus feature up high.
11:20High risk, high reward for Liam Rivera.
11:23Off the nose, just launching over that Niagara Falls.
11:26And a perfect landing for Liam.
11:28And he's got a big feature.
11:30Launches a backflip.
11:32Another perfect landing.
11:34So Liam Rivera showing that he knows every inch of this mountain.
11:40Oh, and look at this maze he's coming into.
11:44Precision required.
11:45Precision executed.
11:47Hadley, that was incredible.
11:49Really incredible.
11:49You can tell this man has spent a lifetime looking at this face.
11:54Finding perfect takeoff, perfect landings.
12:00Okay, here we go.
12:01The score goes up, up, up, way up.
12:03Oh, it's way up.
12:04A 96-point run.
12:07So Liam is enjoying that hot seat.
12:10The last man in the start gate now.
12:13Liam Rivera has done his part.
12:14And he has a serious, serious high score that Victor will have to beat.
12:20Whether Victor knows or he's just going to stick to his plan.
12:22I mean, he certainly has a high 90s run.
12:25As you can hear the sound his board makes on the snow.
12:29As Victor Delaruc passing over this exposure.
12:33Backflipping into that absolute high consequence.
12:36No fall zone.
12:38Liam in the corner watching to see.
12:41Nice backside three.
12:43Oh!
12:45With the front punch.
12:46Nose of his board just going under the powder.
12:49Now coming down into the same little maze that we saw Liam go through.
12:53The same level of precision in the landing for Victor Delaruc.
12:58So he is still continuing down.
13:00And you can see there's only the one track in here.
13:03Victor going a really different trajectory and executing perfectly there.
13:07So score of Liam Rivera, 96.
13:10Victor goes up to a 75.
13:12It puts him into second.
13:14So ending up on the podium at the Bec de Ross.
13:18Here we see the result.
13:20Liam with again the highest score.
13:22A 96 ever given to a snowboard man.
13:25Victor right behind with a 75.
13:27And we're going to see now what this did to our overall title.
13:31Oh, so yeah.
13:32So it ends up being a tie.
13:34But with the math that people much smarter than us do.
13:38Victor takes a world champion title.
13:40Liam right behind him.
13:47She said she wants to do something that she will remember when she's an old lady.
13:52That was her goal for the day.
13:54So Justine de Four Lapointe getting right into it off the top.
13:58Great air.
13:59Keeping that ski in the fall line.
14:02And she's improved so much.
14:04And coming into a huge feature there.
14:06Launching off, landing perfectly.
14:09And another big feature looming below her.
14:13As Justine finding her entrance.
14:15A massive feature in the powder.
14:17And she lands it perfectly.
14:19Oh my gosh.
14:21Oh my gosh.
14:2479.67.
14:25That will put her right into first place.
14:29So strong.
14:30So fast.
14:31And not afraid to send it.
14:32Making that air above the exposure.
14:35So as we see looming down.
14:37The only way out of here is in the air.
14:39The closeout.
14:40And Agustina landing beautifully.
14:42There's so much exposure below the riders.
14:46This face absolutely huge.
14:48And Zoe popping in air there.
14:50You can see the wind put a little bit of a skin on the top.
14:53Going double.
14:54Clipping the rocks.
14:55But coming out of it clean.
14:57We go back up to the woman who sits in second overall.
15:01It is Lou Beren.
15:02She's new to the tour this year.
15:04And Lou Beren now kicking out of start one.
15:07And getting things underway.
15:08Hopefully she was able to take the skill.
15:11And the standing of her brother.
15:15Use that motivation.
15:16And saying, you know what?
15:17I'm on my rookie season two.
15:19And I can get on this podium.
15:20As we see her throwing a 360.
15:22Using that wind lip to her advantage.
15:25Yeah.
15:26And she took the top feature as a double.
15:28Where we saw both Agustina and Winter go as a single.
15:31And another 360 off of the cliff.
15:35So Lou Beren really making a strong case for herself.
15:38Coming down this final air.
15:40Finding a clean landing.
15:42So cool to see the progression of women throwing tricks.
15:46Especially on venues like the Bec de Ross.
15:51Judges have already done their work.
15:54And that goes way up to a 95.
15:57A huge score for Lou Beren as she takes over the hot seat from Justine.
16:03That run incredible.
16:06And the crowd loving it.
16:08We're getting the math from behind the scenes that she needs to be either first or second.
16:13She's won on this venue before.
16:15She knows how to do it.
16:16It's intense.
16:18We are really coming down to the final moments here in Ski Women.
16:22Stomping those legs.
16:23Getting them ready to probably land something quite large if we know Sibyl.
16:29Yeah.
16:29Air right out of the start gate.
16:31So that just gets the judge's attention immediately.
16:34As Sibyl going out to the rider's right where there are no easy ways through.
16:39And a huge cliff looming beneath her.
16:42Right off with no hesitation.
16:44Full fall line attack.
16:46Sibyl popping off that next rock.
16:48Getting things under control.
16:49As she is in an extremely exposed section of this venue.
16:54Heading towards its next cliff.
16:56You can hear her breathing in the background.
17:00Making quick work of it.
17:02Clean runs.
17:03Is she missing a pull?
17:04It's a tough day for ski poles here.
17:07Tough day for ski poles but six women down clean.
17:10No crashes.
17:12All showing really good technique and really intense energy the whole way through.
17:19So incredible performance from the ski women as all of them going top to bottom clean.
17:25The score coming in going up.
17:26It's a 78-97.
17:29So she goes into third.
17:31She's going to be on the podium.
17:32But not the top step.
17:34As Lou Barron is going to be the ski women's winner of the Yeti Extreme Verbier.
17:40Lou Barron two 360s bringing her in 95 first place.
17:45Justine with an electric run of massive airs.
17:49Memorable in second.
17:50And Seville rounding it out with third place.
17:53And it is going to be Lou Barron taking the free ride world tour title here.
17:59Seville Blanjean in second.
18:01And Justine Dufour Lapointe jumping all the way up to third place.
18:09You can see the slough just pouring off of Mikayla's board as she gets things back under control.
18:16The powder really helping these riders stay in control.
18:19And really no easy way out of this.
18:22Over so much exposure that whole top section as Mikayla cruises with confidence.
18:27She comes in with a 78 point run to open up Snowboard Women.
18:33Ana Martinez the first goofy footed rider.
18:36Three second places.
18:38Three silver medals this season.
18:40And she is pushing out.
18:42She's so comfortable in the steeps.
18:44She really is.
18:45You know Chamonix riding is all about steep terrain.
18:48There's not that much free ride.
18:49But there is steep if you want it.
18:51And you can see Ana is so comfortable as she lines up this top cliff.
18:56Perfect control right over the board.
18:58As she makes her way down through this absolutely gorgeous snow.
19:02Popping landing with precision between those rocks.
19:05Yeah it takes a lot of good inspection to be able to do that.
19:09To know exactly where you're going to be when you're on the face.
19:13Little bit of a pause there.
19:15But she was lining up something serious there.
19:17Alright here we go.
19:18The score coming in.
19:20The score to beat 78.
19:21Ana Martinez coming in at a 79-6-7.
19:24So that line score holding up for the Chamonix rider.
19:29As she is going to take on the hot seat.
19:31Which means we only have one rider left.
19:34Mia Jones needs to finish in the top three.
19:37To take the Freeride World Tour title here.
19:40Just was so excited.
19:42Like so excited to ride this venue.
19:45I think it speaks a lot to her skill set.
19:47Coming off the back of her snowboard straight into this first air.
19:51The only rider in the snowboard women's category to go out of start three.
19:55The exposure absolutely enormous.
19:58And Mia Jones is going full throttle over here.
20:03You can hear her breathing hard.
20:05This mountain demands full leg strength.
20:08As Mia makes her way down the back.
20:12Catching an air just off the box side.
20:14And enjoying the powder turns.
20:16She's got one more feature.
20:18And now she has a whole blank slate in front of her.
20:21Just such a strong, impressive rider.
20:24And attending Dartmouth on the side.
20:26Yeah, just part of the Freeride World Tour Overachievers Club.
20:30As so many of these riders.
20:31A big hug.
20:32The score coming in for Mia Jones.
20:35It goes up, up, up, way up.
20:3887 points for Mia Jones.
20:41And she is going to take over the hot seat.
20:43There we go.
20:44Today's winner, Mia Jones.
20:4687.
20:47Huge win for her.
20:49Anna Martinez right behind in second place.
20:51Mikaela Davis Meehan with a super technical run.
20:54Jones, rookie season with a solid overall lead.
20:58FWT champ.
21:0034,000 points.
21:02Pretty good.
21:02Anna right behind her in second now.
21:04Naomi Aki in third.
